Heads up for researchers using AI to search museum, archive, and library databases:

My work has been receiving requests for records that don't exist. We have also been testing AI to see how it responds to certain requests and it not only creates historical documents that don't exist, but also seems to think that database numbers are interchangeable.

If you are using AI to "help" you do basic research, it's giving you false info and making your work harder than if you just used the search function yourself.

Also, we (the staff who manage these things) know that you're using AI, and it makes you look stupid and lazy.

The infuriating part is that people apply the pop-psychology definition of "trauma-bond", but apply the actual psychology judgement of it, as in, "obviously bad, duh, everyone knows that".

The number of times I've been given shit for my relationships being "trauma-bonds" specifically cause I date fellow disordered people for the mutual understanding, is fucking astonishing.

The country they are currently immigrated to does not allow mutual aid, so this will be our only opportunity to crowdfund. S’ brother, L, is returning home for a week to arrange paperwork for their mother. Once he leaves, I will remove this fundraiser for S and her brother’s safety. Thank you so, so much.

Hello everyone, I am posting this on behalf of my three cousins, who are requesting mutual aid from the people online in more fortunate circumstances. They are three immigrant workers from the global south and medical refugees in a country in West Asia. Currently, my cousin S is fighting stage 4 breast cancer, and due to a deeply upsetting and misogynistic situation, she, alongside her brother and sister, all working class, were forced out of the home they were staying at.

My aunt recently had the opportunity to come and help S with her illness; Unfortunately, while there, she suffered two heart attacks. I am gathering funds to support S in three ways. First is to extend our aunt's visa as she is in no condition to return home. Second is to alleviate their food and housing insecurity, as their combined income is eaten away by S’ cancer treatments and rent. Third is to pad their emergency funds, as S’ chemotherapy is unavailable in our home country and only available in where they are currently immigrated to. Again, we are so grateful beyond words for all the help!!

Hey everyone, an hour after I published this 4 days ago, ko-fi temporarily unpublished the page so I could verify some information with them. Today Ko-fi approved, and donations can be resumed. We are currently 10% of the goal, I also wanted to share some more verifying information on S' situation here, here and here. please note the pathology reports are from 2 years ago, and her illness has progressed since, but I was told by her doctors her prognosis is still very good/ she is very responsive to treatments.
