Red is the type of guy who can cheerfully panic and keep doing his thing. All the physical symptoms are there, but his affect is in opposite. His voice just keeps getting more and more strained, and his sarcasm meter goes through the roof. The worse a situation is, the more he will throw out words like "stupendous" or "magnificent" to describe it. The more scared he is, the more manic he will seem.

He doesn't scare easy but he has certain things that will send him spiraling in a way that's very obvious to everyone except him (he's the one wondering "why can't I breathe all of a sudden? Why is my face damp? I'm crying???) He'll insist he's fine and laugh about it.

He's claustrophobic and gets skeeved out by rats. He hates being alone but fears vulnerability and emotional intimacy, which he deals with by being a funny guy and pushing people away when they get too personal. Its just jokes and deflection and redirection all the way down, and if he's truly panicking hard, he will self-isolate and come back when he's better.

#first time someone sits with Red through a panic and treats him like his emotions matter he is extremely ???? about it #what are you doing? this isnt important. we have a job to do we cant waste time on whatever bullshit this is

Veilguard is infinitely better without fast travel. You miss out on so much just jumping to whatever place on the map. I'll admit that the crossroads fights get tedious, but you can run right past them (I was playing immersively so I fought them every time, generally do not recommend, but it will get you very buff very fast). I explored and discovered so much more on the playthrough where I didn't use fast travel. There's so much ambient dialog out in the world. If you're fast traveling everywhere in this game, you are missing a lot.

#datv #honestly i understand how people were so dissappointed if they were inadvertantly skipping all the content #this is very much a game that punishes players for not spending time with the world around them #it gives you the option to skip right to the thick of it but at the cost of experience #all the small moments are the point actually theyre what give you the strength to do the big things #and you missed them all because you didnt care enough #you didnt spend enough time #you didnt listen #hmmm who else does that sound like?#if you act like solas in this game you will get the same bad result he did #if you lean into rook's strengths and do what solas never could #you will win #also honestly very fun to just jog around and enjoy the scenery

Rook obviously lacks critical thinking skills because they *checks notes* trusted their friends' word and their own damn experience over the opinion of the trickster god of lies. Wild.

Red has a "technically not a pet" seagull named Pearl. It turned up on his ship injured, and he nursed it back to health, and it decided to stick around. Its a ratty, sick looking beast. He doesn't claim ownership of it. It harasses anyone and everything. It's a menace at the lighthouse: steals food, shiny things, teaches Assan the joys of swooping down at peoples faces... and Red cheerfully denies ownership and pretends he does not see any of it. It's a wild animal! Are you telling me you can't handle a measly little bird? Sounds like a skill issue.

He also takes Pearl with him whenever they go back to Rivain and tosses it towards the other seagulls hoping it will rejoin its kind. It never does, which is good, because he would be actually devastated if anything happened to that scrungly little bird.
