Ok ok, I got a Nintendo Theory, specifically about Smash 6
So, Switch 2. Been doing pretty alright. Got some sick exclusives, got some fun DLC/upgrade packs for old games. But it doesn't have a Smash Bros.
Walk with me, walk with me, hear me out; we're NOT going to be seeing Smash 6 this year for tomorrow's direct (June 9th, 2026).
Not only has Sakurai been on sabbatical from the franchise since Fighter Pass 2 (& the themes of leaving things behind in Ultimate being very palpable), he's been busy with Kirby Air Riders, I doubt he's had time to also direct Smash 6 if it's even happening.
But that's the thing. We got a new Kirby. "Spin off", sure, but it's so high budget & made by his papa it may as well be mainline. Who else have we gotten new games for? let's consult the graphics.
Hm. Curious. Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus, the aforementioned Kirby, Pikachu (if you count any pokemon game for the yellow rat), and Yoshi.
And who else is confirmed to be getting new games this year or at least sometime soon?
Fox McCloud, Pikachu (again, if didn't count Pokopia you surely count a mainline game), and Link (if you believe the rumors of the Ocarina of Time remake. I know there was also Age of Imprisonment, but that's like the one Zelda related game without Link in it to my knowledge)
Now, let's consult the original roaster of Super Smash Bros for the N64.

I think Nintendo's trying to gear us up for a revamped Smash Bros
Show us some of the base 64 fighter's newer iterations, new design quirks, prime us for Smash 6 by taking a look back at its foundational fighters, who will probably (hopefully) be receiving all new, tuned up move sets like everyone's been wanting.
If the Ocarina of Time remake happens, I think we can expect new 3D Mario & new Kirby sometime next year alongside Pokémon Winds & Waves, plus maybe a teaser at the end of the year for Smash 6 for some time in 2028.
"But wait what about the unlockable fighters? Or the newcomers?!", I see two routes for what they might do.
One, the rest of the 64 cast will be receiving new games announced in this direct, Luigi's Manion 4, Mother 3 in the west or Mother 1 remake, something Pokémon related (probably announced in next year's Pokémon Presents), and SOMETHING with F-Zero
or Two, what more likely is the case (imo, mostly based off the fact Mother 3 in the west is more cope than Deltarune Tomorrow), we will be getting a different cast of unlockable characters based on some of the other Recent & Switch 2 Releases. Splatoon Raiders for revamped Inkling/Octoling/the Mechanic, someone from that upcoming Fire Emblem; Fortune's Weave game, maybe Pikmin 4 rep?
Of course, there is in reality 4 ways this could go, one where they do all of the above games I'm gaslighting myself into thinking come true predicting, or just no OoT remake so this entire theory falls apart, but I think this is where the road leads.
Do I have any concert evidence other than "vibes"? Of course not, what do I look like, I'm a Deltarune Fan & wholeheartedly believe in the copium of Deltarune Tomorrow Specifically due to the absence of that damn Spring Newsletter. I'm just making predictions :P
