First time I watched this, I thought it was just a funny subversion of the whole “Companion in love with the Doctor” which has been with every female companion since the revival, bar Donna. It’s made even more funny when you remember that Twelve is hearing this from Cyber-Bill.

Only recently on rewatch I realised the emotional significance. Bill isn’t out to her foster mother. But she’s been open with Twelve about her sexuality from the start and he’s never batted an eyelid. He’s the closest she has to family and he adores her. Theirs is the closest to a paternal or teacher/student relationship since Seven & Ace. When she says ‘glad you knew that’, she’s not teasing him with some possible secret crush, she’s saying ‘thank you for knowing the real me and accepting me’. I love them.

hi everyone i’m not dead! i got really caught up in school and other personal stuff and then the pandemic hit so i was really stressed and wasn’t feeling very motivated to make any content and eventually i just lost interest in giffing entirely. i still love doctor who and torchwood though :) and i’m really surprised that i have pretty much the same amount of followers as i’ve been gone for almost two years, so i wanted to say thank you for that!

Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you take requests? I made a comment on your gift comparing 9 and 12 vs a dalek a while back (sorry for the negativity--I hadn't read your bio) which got me into analyzing Doctor Who (my blog's slippingbetweenthestars) I'm making a long post analyzing 9's character development and I can't find any gifs about the moment right after he says "Maybe it's time" in the Parting of the ways.
