Kakashi enjoyed summer time, despite the fact that he was usually layered up with his mask. Summer was a time of happiness, relaxation, vacations…what wasn’t there to like? It also provided some of the best weather for a walk, or private picnic for himself. He enjoyed the solitary time with a book.
Apparently so did others. Someone he recognized was sitting in his usual spot, though he could hardly believe his eyes. Itachi? Kakashi watched from afar, unsure how to approach. The man seemed to be reading his own book, enjoying the cool breeze cutting through the stifling heat. Kakashi wished that he was the one under the tree. Alas, he’d been too late to nab his favorite spot.
So, Kakashi merely approached Itachi, his hands in his pockets. “Itachi.” He greeted. “What are you reading?”
He kept his surprise well hidden, turning to look at the other man with an impassive expression. Itachi couldn’t say he was expecting Kakashi to approach him so casually, and he decided to play along, giving him a greeting nod before answering the question.
“An old romance called Shinju. Have you heard of it?” He asked, calmly, marking the page he was currently reading before closing the book.
It was not polite to have a conversation with an open book, and while the other person was standing, so he gestured to the spot beside him, offering the older man a chance to sit if he so wished.
