This little guys is always by my side when I’m studying or just hanging out. It’s always comforting to hear him purring away as I have late nights studying.

Two midterms tomorrow and a meeting with my program chair about my honours thesis and another outreach project for my program! It exciting to see things coming together. These last two years are going to be the best - I’ll make it so.

These are the books I’ve ordered few weeks ago, I’m already excited! I also joined an online book club and our first read of the month is a classic by Ovid, the myth of Icarus and Daedalus from the metamorphoses (book viii). I knew this poem already because I’m a Greek-Roman mythology enthusiastic but I’ve never read it before now and I admit it was such a good reading! I’m gonna buy the physical book soon because I can’t wait to read more of Ovid’s poems.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Not that I haven’t been productive in that time but I’ve definitely not been *as* productive.

And that’s okay.

We all hit pitfalls. What matters is getting back to it, not beating ourselves up when we fail, and remembering that every fall is a chance to build ourselves stronger and learn as we get back up.

I’ve been doing a lot of falling recently. But I’ve gotten back up every time, and now we’re back to it. My grades are improving, my mental health is stabilising and my business is starting to grow.

Onwards and upwards.

The daniel caesar concert I went to last night was insane omg 😭 yesterday overall was a good day because I balanced life with studying, sleeping, eating, aNd relaxing ,,,why can’t everyday be balanced like that

Snagged some prime study space in the nice library today for my super long break between classes. Got an assignment finished that’s been staring me down forever. After this I’m over halfway done my accounting course and never have to look at it again.

Having somewhere comfortable to hide away is so comforting when surrounded by people all day, every day, as an introvert. Sometimes I prefer this even to being at home.

Yeah, I know I’ve been slacking more than I should have for the past week. Trust me, the crushing anxiety on my shoulders is more than enough karma and I have no one but myself to blame. I try to be disciplined, to set deadlines for myself and get I never fail to just avoid opening my planner. Really I’m avoiding the disappointment that I haven’t stuck to my plan 100%. Some days, the anxiety feels like it’s crippling but I still have to push through. So here I am at midnight working on assignments, knowing that when I wake up tomorrow I’ll still be so far behind I’d have to skip multiple nights of sleep just to catch up. Let this be my friendly reminder to myself and to you that it’s okay to breathe, to relax, to not be perfect. None of us are - and striving to be will only burn you out. Here’s to the small improvements, and each day being better than the last.

I know multi tasking often isn’t nearly as productive as single tasking, but some days it feels like that’s the only way I get things done. Unfortunately, feeling productive isn’t the same as being productive

I spend long days (sometimes twelve hours) at school or between school and work. Being prepared is essential for me to stay productive throughout the day - food, water, books, and in this weather, warm clothing are all essential to making it through the day. I have a new blog coming out today that talks about planning - useful both for your projects and for fitting everything into your life. Plan to prepare and prepare for your plan. Things might not always work out, but you’ll at least have a hot beverage with you to chase away the winter blues.

In the midst of the insanity that is daily life, it’s important to remember that we’re allowed to relax. For me, that’s playing video games or reading a book - anything to let my brain escape to a fantastical world. Unwinding lets me come back to my tasks with renewed determination and focus.

I still write most of my notes by hand - and then rewrite them by hand. Even my manuscripts are often written largely by hand. Something about the act of writing is soothing, and helps the ideas flow so much easier. Increasingly, though, time constraints demand I wrote a lot of my blogs and other short pieces - even my novels - directly onto digital paper. Trying to strike a balance between the mediums is an ongoing learning experience

I spend a lot of time studying at school, largely due to the atmosphere but also due to my late classes this semester. I’ve been trying to remember that it’s also important that I spend time where I’m comfortable, and sometimes that means studying on my bed with chill jazz playing in the background.

We’re all busy and it can be hard to find time to relax so I try to work some comforting things into my work routine
