Looking for motivation? Get your own slogan!
Have you ever noticed that many successful companies have their own slogan? For instance, if I say ‘Just Do It’ - you know - it’s NIKE. But why is it that companies do that? Why is a slogan or a motto so important?
The answer is quite simple: a slogan helps you to remind yourself of your overall vision. Besides, it is also an important tool to connect to that vision. If decently chosen, a slogan can motivate you and supports you whenever you have to make tough decisions along your journey.
If you want to stay inspired and motivated while striving for your goals - get your own slogan. It will serve as a personal mantra that reminds you of the great things that are ahead of you. The good thing about? You do not have to pay a media agency to come up with a slogan that fits you.
How do you find your personal slogan? Luckily, there is not just this ONE way how to come up with your own motto. Possibly, one of the following ones will work for you:
Scan your thoughts. There are thousands of thoughts running through your mind each day. Some of them you will never see again, some of them come over and over again. If you pay attention you will quickly figure out what thoughts and desires repeat. Use them as an inspiration to find your slogan.
e.g. Work hard - play hard
Add value. Many people do not know what their core values are. But if you belong to those people that do, I suggest simply using one of your core values as a slogan for yourself. As values are very personal and unique to your personality there’s possibly no better slogan available that reflects you and your aspirations in life. You can add more meaning to your value slogan if you simply add a verb that determines how you want to live on that value.
e.g. Prioritize happiness
Consider your future self. Who is that person you want to be in the future? Sometimes it is easy to find a slogan if we think about the future that we envision for ourselves. That is why a motto can be found if you ask yourself who you want to become.
e.g. A year from now you may wish you had started today
Connect to your vision and goals. What is it that you want to achieve? When choosing a motto it might help to link it to your vision and/or goals. Thereby, your motto will motivate you to do the things that are best for you.
e.g. Each one - teach one
e.g. You don’t have to go fast - you just have to go
Use a quote. Quotes can be very inspirational. Furthermore, they have the power to motivate you. Pick a quote that speaks to you. Ideally, it should be short. Thereby, you can remember it more easily.
e.g. Whatever you are - be a good one (Abraham Lincoln)
Be a minimalist and chose one word. It is not always necessary to find a fancy phrase to get and stay inspired. Sometimes one word might be enough especially if it has a special meaning to you. Just pick a word that is 100% you.
e.g. Adventure
Once you have found your personal slogan, you can use it as a mantra, pin it over your desk or use it as a background on your phone. It’s up to you whether you want to share it with others or not. Change it as you wish, keep it as long as it serves you. It is your gentle reminder to stay true to yourself and pursue your goals - or as a famous sporting goods company would say - ‘Just Do It’ what you want - I’m sure you know which one I mean by now.
GAH I’m so stressed. I’m rewriting accounting notes with a more, minimalist approach. I don’t usually go overboard with doodles and banners and such but these are rly just bare bones titles/subtitles with bullet points.
Sorry for the image quality tho, a combination of writing in fluorescent colours and dim, fluorescent lighting is not a good one for the sake of taking pictures.
Any and all business students, pls don’t be a bystander, ya girl needs help. We can help eachother I just rly need to get through this semester
some sloppy income statement and balance sheet data that i need for my big project that’s due on sunday. all those errors were arising because the company’s annual report said one thing and a financial website said another.
maybe my notes will become neater, but then again where’s the fun in that?
finally have my desk all organized and ready to go for studying, taking notes, and of course posting my notes!!
yesterday my second online class of the summer started yesterday and the workload for it is very intense but i can’t wait to emerge in it!!
my favorite item on my desk is the flowers that my grandma made by hand!! what is your favorite part of your desk setup?
it’s only the second week of school and i’m already stressed out with my workload. but i made so many new friends which are making this semester already the best one yet. i also realized that finance and tax truly do interest me and i’m glad that i’m in this field as corny and boring that sounds! how is everyone doing with their schoolwork??
