In case it isn’t clear, that is literally the last bone of a cat’s toes attached to those claws. If you thought only the claw was being removed during declaw surgery, you are unfortunately mistaken. It’s an amputation.

Get claw caps instead! They stay on pretty well and your cat can walk around normally. You can take them off whenever you want. This is great for house cats. They don’t need their claws for defense but they need them to walk the way we need toes. This keeps them from scratching you or furniture and keeps them happy and healthy. It’s a win for everyone. Plus your cat will look like it got a kitty manicure.

its quite literally, animal abuse. if you kept scratching your mom on the face when you were a baby (we probably all have) and your mom just fucking cuts off your fingertips, thats abuse right? it isnt diffrent for cats. the above nail caps are a good solution to what ive seen. getting kitty towers with scratching posts and getting cardbord scratching boards are a way your cat gets to scratch without messing your furniture up! (they’ll use that over the furniture) and cats wont scratch yout unless you’re scaring, angering, or hurting them. my mom clips my cat’s nails when they get long; she wraps him in a towel (harmless but he gets pissy) and cuts his nails that way. you can also take your cat to a groomer that will cut the nails for you, if thats your thing.
