Bleachers + Dreams
There are dreams when you're sleeping and dreams to accomplish when you're awake. So much of their discography is centered around the tragic loss of a young sibling. Our narrator clings to her in dreams while they drown in grief. Did that loss ruin any chance of pursuing dreams of a successful music career? Does pursuing those types of dreams mean they'll forget her or betray her? Which dreams do you keep alive when you can't have both? But over time dreams of a successful career are replaced by love and dreams of building a life with someone else. And sometimes you meet a person who sees through you and knows you need to hear the reality - that there's nothing wrong with moving on. It's not a betrayal to no longer drown in grief. And while the grief will always be there, hearing that and feeling that belief from someone else can lift the crushing weight of it all.
