Toytale Short Story: One Kids Toy, Another Kids Treasure

Frisk pulled the needle out of Toriel ears and put it back in again, attempting to repare her ripped ear. They had run out of white cloth, so they had to use bright orange. While they were making the repairs, someone had snuck into their room. They grabbed the Asriel doll and left without a sound. Frisk finished with Toriel ear and placed her back in the Doll House. When they went to grab Asriel, however he wasn’t there. Frisk looked around their room in all the places they could think of, and a few places they didn’t think he could get into, but there was no sign of him. Frisk thought of the only other place he could be: Chara’s room.

Frisk stared at Chara’s door. The door knob had scratches on it and the wood around he doorknob was cracked from repeated slams against the door frame. ‘Go Away’ and 'I’m busy’ signs were all over the door making it very uninviting, but Frisk knew they would have to go in there to save that toy. Frisk balled their hand any was about to knock when they heard laughter coming from inside. Chara only laughed if someone, or someTHING was in pain (or if they pulled of a prank or a really bad joke.) Frisk listened more and heared cloth tearing apart. They might be too late… Frisk knocked on the door, a little panicked. “Chara?! Is Asriel in there? I was going to fix his shoulder, but I can’t find him…” The laughter and tearing came to an abrupt stop at the sound of Frisks voice. Frisk heard a small chuckle before Chara responded. “Go away, Frisk! He’s /my/ toy anyway, /not/ yours!! Go fix your own toys!” Frisk frowned as they heard more tearing and not as loud laughing. “Chara, I can hear yo-” the door swung open unexpectedly. “Hear me what?!” Chara stood in the doorway blocking the view inside. Despite their efforts, Frisk could still see fluff scattered around the floor. “Uh-” “Go. Away. Frisk. He isn’t here.” Frisk frowned again and looked down at the floor. They turned to leave and took once final glance at Chara. They were smiling and had one hand hiding behind their back. Wait… Frisk turned backed around at an alarming speed to see Chara holding Asriel behind their back. He was ripped and torn in several places and one of his button eyes was down by his mouth. “ASRIEL!” Frisk grabbed him as Chara grabbed him by his arm. “NO! Azzy is MY TOY!!” Frisk tugged back. “Your HURTING HIM!!” Chara tugged with twice the force. “We’re just PLAYING!” Frisk tugged with thrice the force. The arm started to rip, but neither of them noticed. “Your playing TOO ROUGH!! LET ME FIX HIM!” The arm was almost completely ripped now. “I’m not TOO, ROUGH!!” Chara made a final attempt to get their toy back, but instead ripped his hand off and littering the floor with fluffy cotton. They both almost fell backward, but caught themselves. Frisk stared open jawed at the mess. Chara looked distraught, which wasn’t a new emotion for them, but this time they looked more sad than usual. “WHAT ARE YOU TWO YELLING ABOUT!!” Their mom was a little mad that the bickering kids were disturbing the newest episode of The Kardashians. Frisk jumped when the loud noise rang through the house at them. “Uh, NOTHING MOM!” They could hear their mother huff as she turned the show back on.

Chara stood there looking distraught. Frisk felt bad for Chara, as they often did, but this was different. Asriel was Chara’s favorite toy, despite how rough Chara tended to play. “Chara, I’m-” “Shut… Up…. Go away. Fix him if you want, I don’t care. Just go away.” Chara didn’t move when Frisk tried to look them in the face and failed. “I’m-” Chara’s head swung up toward Frisk, and Chara’s eyes seemed to glow red. “JUST GO AWAY!” Chara turned into their room and slammed the door in Frisks face. “CHARA, WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT SLAMMING THAT DOOR!!” After a moment of silence, their mom sighed and the television show resumed again. Frisk didn’t realize now, but Asriel had gotten dropped on the floor after his arm ripped off. Asriel had run away without their notice. The fluffy cotton had turned to a small pile of dust as well.

Frisk walked back to their own room and suddenly stopped when they got into the doorway. They felt a strange emptiness in their hand… Frisk flinched with realization to why their hand had felt so empty. They were no longer holding Asriel! Frisk peeked behind them, but there was no sign of him. They looked down the hall, but there was just some dust there. No Asriel. Frisk searched around their room, but couldn’t find him. They even searched the toy box, but couldn’t find him in there either. Just another strange pile of dust among the flower slinky toys in the castle. Frisk sighed and accepted defeat. Chara probably swiped him from the ground after Frisk walked into their bedroom. They let them be, mainly because Chara looked like they were about to kill them right there in the hallway, but also because they looked genuinely sad. Frisk tried to think about something else more positive, like their birthday next week. Frisk was hoping for a new toy, like last year, except they wanted something different. Like… A wooden soldier! Those are adorable.

Less than a month left, barely 3 weeks to go before the winner is chosen!

My AU is called Toy-tale where all the monsters of the Underground are children’s toys. This is due to the Mages, instead of sealing them underground they cast a spell on them turning them into toys. They did not think they would come to life how ever. My Sans in this au is a air toy because Sans can deal hard hits but dies in one hit, just like air toys. Papyrus is a toy solider made of wood because; 1: he wants to be a royal guard member why not look the part. 2: He looks adorable in that style~! The characters from my AU I’d put forward would be my Undyne who is a porcelain doll and Papyrus who again is a toy solider. Undyne is a tough bad ass warrior woman with hard punch! Even though she’s made of glass she’s anything but fragile. And Papyrus… My Papyrus is sweet a sugar and major phobia of fire, he’s not too good as a fighter but he knows more about healing magic then he lets on. One of these two I’d have to choose. (Plus Papyrus’s is going through a redesign soon) I hope you like my au~!

So, let’s host a contest to celebrate nearly a year of developing UNDERFELL!

I figured, why not? It could be fun! So, here’s what you can win, first and foremost!

This competition is planned to end on APRIL 30TH, 2017.

GRAND PRIZE

• Your Sans/Papyrus/other character (maximum of two characters) from you/your friend’s AU will be put into the game as a fully-voiced follower! This does not include an Echo world and they will both be considered an “Echo Mercenary.” Don’t know what an Echo Mercenary is? Read up on that here. If you do not have an AU, you can suggest one or use a friend’s AU as long as they give permission! You will likely see the Mercenaries in the full game.

• You will be credited in the Special Thanks section in the game and on the Tumblr!

• You will work with me DIRECTLY to ensure I get whichever followers you want to put in are put in correctly and accurately to their given lore!

• Special role in our Discord server to show off that you’re the big winner!

My AU is called Toy-tale where all the monsters of the Underground are children’s toys. This is due to the Mages, instead of sealing them underground they cast a spell on them turning them into toys. They did not think they would come to life how ever. My Sans in this au is a air toy because Sans can deal hard hits but dies in one hit, just like air toys. Papyrus is a toy solider made of wood because; 1: he wants to be a royal guard member why not look the part. 2: He looks adorable in that style~! The characters from my AU I’d put forward would be my Undyne who is a porcelain doll and Papyrus who again is a toy solider. Undyne is a tough bad ass warrior woman with hard punch! Even though she’s made of glass she’s anything but fragile. And Papyrus... My Papyrus is sweet a sugar and major phobia of fire, he’s not too good as a fighter but he knows more about healing magic then he lets on. One of these two I’d have to choose. (Plus Papyrus’s is going through a redesign soon) I hope you like my au~!
