I’m so so done...
... being sick AND 32 weeks pregnant is no joke...
And that’s not even the entirety of the troubles I’m having.

Baby kicks. Longer update coming soon, it’s been a rough couple of weeks.
23+5
Another doctor appointment over and done with. Well two since my last post.
1. I’m on full time sick leave until my maternity leave now. It sucks, but it was the right decision to make. My pelvis is hurting and I find that I can’t do many things in one day, before I “pay” for it the next day. I was worried about being sick and out of work for so long (I probably won’t be back to work before January/February 2021 !!) but my doctor (regular GP) dismissed that and said I had to prioritise myself and the baby. And that it’s only 2 months before planned maternity leave, so I should go home and knit 🙈
2. At my 8week + 20week appointment they found glucose (sugar) in my urine. It’s a sign of gestational diabetes. So I’ve had extra bloodwork done and measured my blood sugar 7 times a day at home for two weeks. Saw a doctor at the maternity ward today. None of those test results indicate diabetes. I have to measure for two days again before my 28week check up (and scan) in mid-November.
Pelvis is particularly bothersome right now. I’ve been to the hospital and then had a quick lunch at McD. Then home, took the trash out and put on a load of laundry and now it’s painful to walk. So I’ve collapsed on the couch to rest, as prescribed by the doctor.
Newton is back from dental surgery. He’s tired and groggy, but that’s to be expected. Now he’s home resting in bed with the rest of the house.
My pelvic pain is only getting worse. I have made a doctor appointment for tomorrow to talk about being full time sick until my maternity leave. My physio says I need to be careful. I’ve only worked two days this week and has spent most of the time since, resting to ease the pain.
Feeling biiiiig and bothered. Pregnancy related pelvic pain/instability is only getting work. Only been to work two days this week so far ... and had physio today. Still kinda confined to bed as it’s the place I have the least amount of pain... ugh.
Gotta wait and see about work tomorrow...!
It’s even prettier than I thought!
Some sunshine after a week of tears
The last week has been rough, physically and emotionally. I’ve never felt quite so alone nor quite so scared in my life!
Tuesday I left for England, heading towards Halifax to see Shibden Hall and other places related to Anne Lister (HBO/BBC’s Gentleman Jack). The trip went smoothly. Wednesday I went to see Shibden and it was as magneficent as I had hoped.
But.
Wednesday evening I discovered that I was bleeding (20+6). I was taken to the Maternal Assessment Centre. They found the foetal heart beat but did no other examinations as to see where the bleeding came from. I did tell them that my placenta is situated low and right against my cervix.
I was planning on travelling home Saturday, but changed my plans and flew home Thursday. I needed my family close by.
Upon returning home I discovered that my cat had been injured. Slack tail and a broken tooth.
Friday I went to see my midwife, she too found the heart beat of the baby and reassured me as I told my tale. She wondered why they hadn’t scanned me, but was glad I had called my local maternity ward and they had scheduled a scan Tuesday.
Went to the vet Friday. Cat needs the tooth removed. As the weekend passed the swelling and discolouration of his backside and back end lessened and I was pleased to learn that his area works, even if all the nerves of his tails don’t.
Today, Tuesday I had the scan. Everything looks perfect. He’s gained weight since my scan at 20+0. They think it’s the placement of the placenta. I can still work, but be watchful of new bleeds.
So here’s to breathing freely. Here’s to my awesome family! Here’s to daring to hope and wish again.
Week from hell...
