Snape being a potions prodigy means that his potions book is not his prized possession. It is a dumpster fire full of “this is bullshit” margin notes because he’s smarter than the writer, whom he would strangle if they ever met.

Recounting his substitution of the DADA class:

- We do not see the first 10 minutes as Harry is late, but in can be healthily assumed it is full of chatter unrelated to class topics, and more in line with "what the fuck is Professor Snape doing here?" Thus, assumedly, Severus spends time to quiet the students. At which by this point, it can also be assumed Severus is already drained, considering he now has to teach Potions AND DADA

- When Harry arrives (10 minutes late) Severus takes 10 points for his tardiness ("bUt iT wAsn'T hArRy'S fAuLt!" Okay? How is Severus supposed to know? Besides, whether or not Harry was at fault, he is still late to class)

- Harry asks where Remus is, and Severus explains he is ill. He tells Harry then to sit down (for the second time, mind you)

- Harry refuses, and asks further questions about Remus. Severus, in response to Harry not following instruction, takes another 5 points (which is FAIR. This is now the THIRD TIME that Severus is having to ask him to sit down)

- After this incident, Severus is continuously interrupted when trying to begin the lesson. Once by Dean, once by Parvati, and THRICE by Hermione (no shit, this is going to piss Sev off. Especially combined with the unseen beginning of class, and Harry's mild case of defience)

- He takes another 5 points after Hermione's third interruption (FAIR), and insults her in the process (well ... kinda. The insufferable bit wasn't the nicest, but the know-it-all bit was a statement more or less. But that being said, in Sev's shoes, Hermione is indeed being insufferable soo ...)

- Everything comes to a head when Ron speaks up about Hermione ("You asked us a question and she knows the answer! Why ask if you don't want to be told?" Well, Ron, I'm glad you asked! It's a simple explanation! Severus was seeking other student's answers. He ignored Hermione's hand in the air because she is *always* answering, and it is completely fair to want to see another student answering instead), at which Severus gives a detention (scrubbing the bedpans in the Hospital Wing)

And yk, rereading this scene, not a single ounce of this screams unfair treatment.

Severus, as much as people will hate to admit, is actually a shockingly patient teacher for the shit he has to deal with!! The amount of teacher's I've had over the years that would have snapped or given multiple detentions for the same shit!! Like -

No. Black Snape will make the marauders actions blatantly obvious to the point where not even marauder stans can pretend to ignore/ be oblivious.

Black Snape will be a stand-in metaphor to visually portray how vulnerable Snape actually was, because some of y'all like to ignore the fact that Severus Snape was a poor kid from a mill town that came to Hogwarts with the hopes and dreams of a better future and escaping an abusive alcoholic father and a mother that refused to leave the man that abused them both, therefore failing him too, only to be singled out on the train to said safe haven just because two privileged rich boys didn't like the fact that he existed. The same privileged brats that went on to not only bully him, but several other kids, attempted to murder him and then sexually assaulted him, all because was sorted into a house with a bad rep, and had to fit in with people he didn't necessarily agree with but protected him to a degree/ accepted him because they were trying to groom him into a cult.

Marauder stans refuse to see how a vulnerable child, (because yes, he was a CHILD) was forced to create spells to defend and protect himself because the administrative system (read: adults responsible for him) not only failed him so horrifically, they silenced him when he was almost murdered, did nothing about the bullying and SA, and even sided/ protected his abusers/ bullies.

What marauder stans refuse to accept is that dark magic is not inherently evil, the same way a gun isn't an evil weapon unless the wielder uses it so. Severus knowing dark magic at the age of eleven DOES NOT MAKE HIM EVIL.

You wouldn't look at a nerdy, shy, genius kid and call him evil just because he knows too much. That was Severus. Forced to use his genius to protect himself and then condemned for it, not only by his own so-called friend, but also m-stans who would rather bite their own hands off than admit that Severus Snape being played by a black actor strips away all delusion of Snape being evil and not just the imperfect victim that he was.

if the rest of the Harry Potter characters were judged with the same logic Snape haters use:

Molly Weasley didn’t kill Bellatrix Lestrange until Bellatrix threatened Ginny. So Molly was fine with Bellatrix murdering and torturing everyone else just not her own daughter. Selfish.

Harry Potter was a violent, anti-social terrorist from childhood. Remember when, at thirteen, he attacked and blew up a defenseless old Muggle woman (Aunt Marge) like a balloon and tossed her out like trash? If the Ministry hadn’t stepped in, he probably would’ve killed her.

Minerva McGonagall should’ve been tried for discrimination. She deliberately crushed the spirits of poorer students like Ron Weasley by gifting Harry a fancy broom, proving she only cared about stroking her favorites’ egos.

If James Potter really loved Lily and Harry, he would never have married Lily or had a child at all, then the prophecy wouldn’t exist, Lily wouldn’t have died, and Harry wouldn’t have grown up an orphan.

Sirius Black literally killed James and Lily, if he actually cared about James, he would never have doubted Remus Lupin, and never suggested Peter as Secret Keeper. The Potters would still be alive.

Sirius Black didn’t care about Harry either, he only saw James in him. If he truly cared, instead of drowning in booze and self-pity, he would’ve dealt with his traumas properly. Maybe then he wouldn’t have done something so stupid as running off to the Ministry to get himself killed.

Harry deserved to get killed by Draco’s curse in that bathroom. that’s what you get for stalking and obsessing over another student like a creep.

I agree with you that we don't have the necessary evidence that Snape actively took part in Death Eater activities. In fact, he spent his days polishing Voldemort's handsome feet and groveling as a lackey for the purebloods. Isn't that awful and fitting? He was already treated like that at Hogwarts by the high and mighty Slytherins.

Yes, it’s actually quite common for vulnerable teenagers who are desperate to be accepted into a group —just to feel safe and like they belong somewhere— to become overly compliant and devoted, especially when they believe it’s their only way forward.

That’s something you learn when you work with people who have no resources. I guess classist people just don’t get it and rush to judgment. Thankfully, I’m a fairly educated person, so I don’t have that problem.

Okay. You know, I often had to defend victims of sexual crimes or crimes against human dignity (when I was interning as an assistant prosecutor (not sure what it's called in English)) and the first thing I noticed when I came to the Harry Potter fandom was that the Marauders fans, their fandom, say LITERALLY WORD FOR WORD, EXACTLY QUOTE THE SAME thing that rapists and their lawyers say when they try to get away with it (even if they raped a child).

Now when I talk to someone in the HP fandom and they say that they like the Marauders, I understand that if someone close to them committed a crime against someone else's integrity, these people would be the first to start defending the rapist.

Stay away from such people.
