The Road as a movie
Getting to watch the The Road as a movie is wonderful! I’ve been loving it so far. I usually enjoy book to movie adaptations if they do it right. So far I’m pleased with how the movie is going and they did switch some scenes but I like it. I also like how we get to see their Post apocalyptic world.
I totally agree! I was really happy at how they showed what the world looked like and when they got to the shore it was all grey. I really liked this movie!

The movie was great! Even though it wasn't exactly like the book it was still a good movie. I was kind of upset that the train scene wasn't in the movie that was a really important part of the book, but still they depicted the son and the father well. Yet still i think the son was honestly too go ahead and lets do this, when in the book he was scared as heck about everything.
Always on the road
The Road is a fascinating book that has such powerful imagery for the reader. I’m eager to finish the book and find what happens the father and son and how the story itself ends. I would definitely read this book again and recommend it to someone.
Completely 100% agree i cant wait to see how this ends, and i would most definitely recommend to anyone.

This book is by far my favorite! It really is intriguing and makes me want to keep reading. So far i honesty feel sorry for the son because he doesn't know what it is like to not live in a world besides this. Yet the son has that as an advantage, he doesn't have to remember the world as it should be or everything that he could be doing besides running for his life. As for his dad is haunted by this because he has lived through both faces of the world. I can honestly say that I can't wait to see how the story ends!
I have really enjoyed reading The Road. I absolutely love post apocalyptic novels! I eager to finish the book already. And I the soda scene was just adorable to me. The son was also cute in how he wanted to share the hot chocolate with his dad. I also like how there is no chapters and how McCarthy doesn’t give names to any of the characters. It was interesting thing to do.
I totally agree with you! I Love the no chapters and this scene was just too cute. I also love the photo you got for it too, it really describes to you what they actually looked like, and what the world would look like if it did end.

As much as I was dreading this book, I'm glad we started it! The book so far is really good, i wasn't expecting it to be like this. The way that the book is constructed is great. I never noticed how weird it is to not have chapters, yet it doesn't even bother me. Plus only having 2 characters to worry about it pretty nice considering "A visit from the goon squad" who had like 45.
Not a fan of getting my hopes up in a story then having it end and reading a completely new chapter and story. Mrs. Clark said that in chapter 12 it will tie everything together as much as it can but i’m left a little confused still, guess this is where the classes analysis will come in and help...
You are so right, i was really hoping all the characters would tie in at the end. Hopefully today we can figure everything out. Most postmodern book are not that bad but for some reason the way this one is constructed is just horrible and confusing. I really hope the Road is better.

This book is just confusing. It makes sense in some parts but others I'm just utterly confused and have no idea what is going on. To be honest i really do not like this book. I can't wait for us to be done with it. What i really don't like it the jumping in the timeline. Normally I don't mind but in this case its just bad. Yet even though i don't really enjoy the book i can't wait to find out how it ends.
I have really enjoyed reading A Visit From The Goon Squad. The storyline is interesting so far even if the time jumps can be confusing at first. I find it interesting that we get to explore all these different characters in different time periods in their life. It is like flashbacks between some chapters.
And the picture that I have is great for figuring out how each person is connected another person(s) and so and so forth.
wow this picture actually explains a lot haha. At least now we can see how they are all related! I like the flashbacks too but the book is just too slow for my liking.

This week we started A visit from the goon squad. So far to be honest the book is really boring. I don't know why it think its probably because of the structure of the book. Yet certain chapters are not that bad. I really enjoyed chapter 6, 7, and 8. Those were really interesting to read. Especially the chapter with Bennie and his wife where her brother comes home, looking into Bennie's early-ish life. That was a great chapter except for the fact that he cheated on his wife (not yet confirmed). Yet, it is still kinda boring and i hope it picks up soon!

I actually enjoyed reading Generation X. I mean it was just funny because who can come up with a story like that?! This story was just funny how he thinks he got space poisoning and somehow on a meteor with this family. It was just a fascinating read haha, the story was overall a good one! IMAGO was really weird but still intriguing. Who has tentacles for hair?! I'm really glad we got to read these, we need more of these stories to read. Yet I'm excited to start our next book!
I am so glad that we got to help choose the questions for our midterm. It definitely makes studying a lot easier than just trying to guess what will be on there. Working in groups helped a lot too because we got to work together and make sure that we knew the right answers to our questions before...
Yes!making our own questions is so much better because then you know what will be on the test and make it more bearable.

This is really late but hopefully i still get full credit haha. This week has been fun, yet i still don't know which one to put for the matching in the review she sent out, anyone know? Also I can honestly say I've loved my group this week!
When I read the part about the mystery key belonging to a safety deposit box I was so irritated. All that time searching for what the key unlocked and that was it! Then I started thinking more about what Professor Clark said, and I have to agree with her. I do not think anything the author wrote for the key to unlock would have satisfied me at that point. I mean unless it unlocked a secret time machine that could help save everyone on 9/11, but let’s be realistic here. All together I enjoyed this book a whole lot more than “the things they carried.” I like how real it was, how that is exactly what a child would feel like under the circumstances presented.

When i found out that we never find out what was inside the safety deposit box i was upset. 300 and some odd pages of a book and we never find out what is inside. Yet you're right no matter what he said was inside i would have just been like it doesn't even matter. I'm just glad we read the book so I actually can say i read an incredibly cool book with 1 word pages.

Extremely Loud and incredibly close was actually a good book. I was honestly surprised with it. I really enjoyed the ending how you found out that his mom knew all about what he was doing and called ahead to everyone. It really shows you that the mom loves Oskar more than he thought she did. That was my favorite part of the entire book, it made me laugh at how she played her own son like that. After watching the movie and the book i can say the book was way better than the movie.

I can't wait to see what his dads last hunt for him was! I have to agree with you on how it started off just soooo slow, but I'm glad I kept reading. I feel like the ending is either going to amazing or I am going to be so mad at how it ends that I'm not even going to want to see the movie haha.

Extremely loud and incredibly close has been an amazing read! It is quite confusing but for some reason I still cant put the book down! I honestly feel really sad for Oskar. He loved his dad more than anything in this world and all of a sudden one day he was taken from him. I understand why he is trying to hide the answering machine from his mom, he might not show it much but he really does care for his mother and loves her to death. I can't wait to finish this book and see where the key fits into all of it! I'm really glad we decided to read this because it has been one of the most interesting books I've read in a long time.
