I thought the movie was good too.  And yeah I also noticed a few things that were different from the book.  I liked the book better because of all the little details that were included to make the story better.  I thought I was going to hate this class too honestly but it has turned out to be my favorite this semester!

It's so crazy that we're almost done with classes for this semester!  I think this semester just flew by.  I really enjoyed watching the movie in class this week.  Parts of it were how I imagined it would be.  Other parts of it were a little different than what I had pictured in my head.  All in all, I thought it was relatively similar to the book but I did notice a few things that were left out after I went back and looked in the book.  I am not so sure how well I will do on my paper because I am gonna be honest, I do not think it is very good.  Hopefully that is just me being too hard on myself.

I am not even sure what to write since we only had one day of class. However, I am excited to watch the movie in class this week!  The Road was such a good book so I am looking forward to seeing how they took the book and interpreted it for the movie.  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.  I am still trying to finish my paper.  Like Trent said, it has been a busy week.  I have been trying to motivate myself to get it done but it just has not been working out very well!

A little late on this post, it’s been a busy week. Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and a safe time Black Friday shopping. Not much to talk about since we only had one day of class, and haven’t read anything. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the movie....

The book the Road was a very good book. I wasn’t so sure I would like it but it was the best book we have read all semester. The ending of the book was very sad i was hoping that the father and son would have found a place where they could live forever. I’m kind of looking forward to watching the movie but I’m not looking forward to the gross parts.

The Road has been such a great book! I'm a little surprised at how much I like it because honestly I was preparing for it to not be good. I'm not sure if I would go so far as to say its my favorite out of the ones we read but it ranks pretty highly! It took a while for me to get into it because it just started off so slow. It's just one of those books that you really have to motivate yourself to read and I'm glad I could find the motivation to do so. I think the father showed true courage by staying strong for his son as long as he possibly could. I was so impressed with him. The soon really surprised me by how strong he was too. I think he just wanted to be strong for his father and he used that as his motivation.

The Road hasn't turned out to be what I thought it was going to be so far. I like the fact that it is a linear story and doesn't jump around to different points of view every chapter. I've noticed that the author will sometimes not use apostrophes when he uses a contraction but I haven't found a pattern to it yet. Overall this book is a fairly easy read, it just took a while for me to really get interested in it. I never have been interested in many post apocalyptic novels but this one is one of the better ones that I have read!

A Visit From the Goon Squad was definitely my least favorite book so far. It is so confusing the way it jumped from different points of view during every chapter.  I could not keep up with who's point of view it was from and it was very confusing trying to figure out the time period that the story was taking place in each of the chapters.  This book definitely did not turn out the way I thought it was going to.  It was hard to figure out the way the characters were related in the book but as the chapters went on it got a little easier to figure that out.

Can you believe that the semester is almost over! It seems like it just started! The reading the week was… different (I’m beginning to notice a theme here, haha postmodern is a bit…different.) I hope that “A Visit From The Goon Squad” turns out to be a good read. For some reason i have this feeling that I’m not going to like it. My hunches have turned out to be true for the last two books, so we’ll see how it goes this time.

It does seem like the semester is flying by!  But yeah postmodern is definitely a bit different to say the least.  From what I have read so far, I think A Visit From the Good Squad is going to turn out to be a good book but I don't know, it might turn out completely different than I'm expecting so it's hard to tell!

Generation X and Imago were not my favorite stories to read.  I just don't like sci-fi things all that much.  I understand how the authors were trying to relate back to fairytales and things like that but other than that it was just really hard for me to read.  I'm looking forward to starting A Visit From the Goon Squad though, it seems like it is going to be a good book, so hopefully I can get into reading it.

Not too sure what to post since we just did the midterm review this week. But I have to say I enjoyed getting into groups and reviewing the stories and novels and making our own test questions. It was definitely enjoyable way of studying.

I wasn't too sure about what to post either, but I just kind of went with it!  I definitely enjoyed getting into groups too, it made the process of writing questions and getting answers more enjoyable!

I am so glad that we got to help choose the questions for our midterm.  It definitely makes studying a lot easier than just trying to guess what will be on there.  Working in groups helped a lot too because we got to work together and make sure that we knew the right answers to our questions before we left the class.  I am not as worried about the midterm now as I was because I know what kind of questions are going to be asked and I feel as if I have the right answer to the majority of the questions.

Lost count of what week this is...

I loved this book! I loved the 3 different perspective and how the author didn’t tell us everything that we needed to know when we would have liked to have known it. I enjoyed the visual effect that the pictures had on the story. Also has anyone seen the movie? I enjoyed it and thought it was really good even though it wasn’t exactly like the book.

I loved the book too, although it did not end the way I was thinking it would. I thought it was really neat how it had the three different perspectives too, I think it really enhanced the storyline.

Week 6

Honestly, I was almost mad at the way Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close ended!  It definitely did not end the way I thought it was going to.  I also thought that the key would wind up being more significant than just being the key to a safe deposit box.  All in all though, it was a very good book once I really got into reading it.  The author does a really great job at getting the reader to hold on to something they think might happen in the book.  I think that is why I enjoyed it so much, because there are not many books like that today that force you to think of all the different things that could happen over the whole course of the book.

I’m loving “extremely load and incredibly close” waayyyyyy more than “the things they carried.” It’s an interesting story and I like how the author doesn’t give us all of the information that we need but makes us wait and piece it all together on out own. It’s making me not want to put the book...

I love the fact that this book makes us figure things out for ourselves.  It is not like many other books that I have read.  The fact that it is written from Oskar's point of view just makes it that much better because kids do notice things differently than we do, so it is interesting to see the way Oskar has really handled this whole situation.
