Okay so like, petty fandom arguments and other bs aside, can we all just generally agree that- objectively- MalleYuu is fucking hilarious?

Like I’m pretty sure Yuu isn’t even a registered citizen and it’s debatable if Ramshackle even has a working shower. And then they just. pull the heir to the strongest kingdom known within the lore. that’s fucking peak.

Also all of the bullshit with the Senate just makes the mere idea of them as a couple ten times funnier. Like they SEETHED at Lilia and Maleanor FRIENDSHIP as well as the fact she married a lesser fae. Not even a non-fae species. Just. A guy whom was slightly lesser.

The Council of Briar Valley: Ah yes, the heir to the throne. Since our princess had committed the CARDINAL SIN of marrying and having a baby with a LESSER FAE, we shall carefully watch over and monitor Malleus, to ensure the same mistake does not happen twice!

yuu most certainly began feeling the slightest twinge of fear towards malleus post-overblot. let's be fr. the vivid memories of being trapped within the brambles alone after awakening from the dream state, thorns digging into their ankles, the fire raining from the heavens, the black dragon in the sky and lilia's lifeless body is all just ... so much. too much, for someone like the child of man to handle anyway.

it feels like a lot of the fandom forgives malleus too quickly or narrows down the complexities of who he is for the sake of malleyuu. if you're gonna write post-book 7 malleyuu, platonic or romantic, you need to make it hurt. make him realize what harm he has caused yuu, make him suffer beneath his guilt and regret. make him grovel at the prefect's feet, make him begin to shed his pride and arrogance and search high and low to find a way to earn back their trust, their affections. make him beg.

of course, i don't think yuu would abruptly stop being his friend after the matter, not at all. there is still empathy, there is sorrow that is felt for what malleus endured to cause him to go into such a state. at least i understand it. but even so, surely there is an air of caution now that lingers in the air between them. build on that !!! malleus has made mistakes, and far too long has he been sheltered from their consequences. don't keep sheltering him.

tldr if you're gonna write malleyuu stop reducing malleus to just a dark sexy fae prince and make that bitch yearn a little
