i hate how "being a girl's girl" has replaced feminism. I hate that enforced conformity has replaced genuine compassion for and solidarity with other women. I hate how women call each other "pick me's" for not conforming to femininity or for daring to critique something other women like. I hate how we just keep finding new socially acceptable ways to bully other women for being unattractive or outspoken or difficult or complicated or weird or ambitious or for not performing femininity. I hate those front facing camera "comedians" whose whole thing is making up a straw-woman to make fun of. I hate the obsession with "girlhood" and clinging to being a girl instead of a woman. i hate "the girl version of the roman empire" and "girlhood" and it's just consumerism and I hate the characterisation of girlhood as passivity, niceness, sweetness, helplessness and frivolity and I hate the revival of gender essentialism even as a joke!!!
Men get epidemics with their social issues. Loneliness, mental health, being single, doing badly in school. It’s expected that men & women work together (read: women do all the work) to solve the issues for the good of the world (read: so they won’t hurt us).
For women, our real epidemics are cast off and questioned and no one really cares. When’s the last time you saw a man talk about femicide?
Feeling an incredibly weird specific nostalgia but what piece of media defined 2020 for you (as in you spent that year with it) mine is mtv's catfish
Sorry for sometimes using media to escape the constant anxiety of losing loved ones and possibly becoming jobless and houseless and dying as an essential worker
Black Friday is such a joke nowadays. “Don’t miss out on 30% off” don’t piss me the fuck off. People used to hit each other over the head for a microwave that’s how low the prices were. People literally died. We used to be a country
Been off tumblr for 2 months, what’s new?
I’d love to make a radfem writers group
Something to be said about how often butch lesbians are drawn with narrow hips and barely any tit as compared to drawings of femmes and osa women.
It just doesn't feel progressive to me, sorry.
The idea that hip and breast size are tied to sexual identity or preferences is misogyny and homophobia and this is a great example!
The idea that liking women, not performing femininity, or being butch means that you must look “like a man” is just as silly as thinking women with large breasts have inherently large libidos.
Butch lesbians are women and that means that many of them have large breasts, wide hips, and other COMPLETELY NORMAL biological markers of being female.
If you have trouble with this, you should think about decolonizing your views on the community 💕
(sorry to add to this epic post) but I think it also perpetuates the idea that women's sex characteristics are accessories to an aesthetic and not just neutral parts of our bodies. You'll see teenagers on tiktok talking about how "my boobs dont match this outfit" and whatnot.
This line of thinking is something people with dysphoria and body dysmorphia need to root out. Female bodies are not commodities that you can purchase upgrades or modifications for. Your natural body does not need to be modified according to "suit" your preferred style of dress. It's super harmful to GNC women. Women's bodies "match" every type of expression because men don't own board shorts, tank tops, and crew cuts. You're disrespecting butches when you say they do.

I feel like at some point it became necessary to get a masters. Everyone I know who’s doing well has a masters. When did everyone get the memo
Got a food sensitivity test done and the main thing they say I can’t eat is gluten.
Fun fact! Having a job every day is actually a fairly new thing.
In olden times, people had daily chores and other things to do but their workload/ daily working hours was actually much lower than it is today. Even in farming communities.
The concept of working super hard every day actually comes from capitalism, which in turn comes from Puritanical ideology.
The Puritans believed in salvation through work and in no play.
Early capitalists adopted this ideology because it meant higher productivity and therefore more money if their factories were running near constantly.
The idea of needing to be continuously productive in order to be useful/ allowed things like food and shelter, is actually quite an insidious ideal that is deeply rooted in the American culture.
4 day work weeks have actually proven to be more productive than the 5 day week. But corporations won't adopt it willingly because it means less of a stranglehold on their workers.
Emily Jo Gibbs - Horse chestnut bag and purse in silk dupion with copper wire and silk satin.
The actor with a houseboat that I lost my virginity to now has a massage therapy biz. I don’t know what to do with this information. So I’m going to put it here.
“That’s why high school, or a crappy job, or any other restrictive circumstance can be dangerous: They make dreams too painful to bear. To avoid longing, we hunker down, wait, and resolve to just survive. Great art becomes a reminder of the art you want to be making, and of the gigantic world outside of your small, seemingly inescapable one. We hide from great things because they inspire us, and in this state, inspiration hurts.”
