I've been watching Ouran High School Host Club and it struck me that Haruhi is, like, a reverse manic pixie dream girl. She's the only person in the show who both a) has three whole brain cells and b) has touched grass in the last year, and it turns out that is exactly what every other major character needs to fix them. I think we all know why they regress.

Julie voluntarily regresses (age dreams) for fun, she paci is for sensory reasons, and because she thinks they’re cute! Especially when they match with her outfits! Her little age would be 4-8

Frank age regresses as a result of his autism. He doesn’t notice when he’s regressed most of the time, and he’s usually much older than Julie when regressed (10-12 years old)

Him and Julie play a lot when they’re regressed, but Frank feels more like he’s babysitting a younger sibling rather than having a playdate sometimes.

My headcanon for Fiona is that she’s a perma regressor, but only really leans into it when she’s at home alone or with cake! She spends a lot of time in her bed when she’s regressed, and loves to nap.

For Star, she mostly a teen regressor/dreamer, it’s rare she’s ever this little! She regresses to make up for lost time she spent fixing her family’s generational prejudice and to destress.

Mao Mao regresses involuntarily to around 3-6 years old. At first he was very secretive and embarrassed about it, so much so that he would suppress it. It started becoming harder to suppress at some point and subtle signs were starting to become noticeable to his friends. The give away was a paci he had hidden in their attic or something. He had it since he was little and secretly kept it, and suckled it for a few seconds when upset or angry, but only when he was sure that he was alone in the attic. Inevitably, there came a time where he was not alone in the attic. Badgerclops found out, (and after laughing at him hysterically and teasing him for a bit) he understood that it was something Mao Mao needed to do to deal with the outrageous behavior of his fathers past actions. Adorabat was fine it too.
