âWe are the only family we need, right?â
Throwback to my last pregnancy with @drevilspxwn â€ïž
âWhat I wouldnât give for leggings, a sweater and a tub of ice cream right now.â She sighed and took another sip of her drink. Rosie chuckled softly at her momâs words. âHonestly, it was more of a rhetorical question. I never thought youâd actually say yes - but here we are.â
âYou only have a couple more hours Rosie.â Jo smiled at the young girl before she kissed her head. âWhatâs got you so down anyway beautiful?â She asked her daughter before she took a sip of her own wine glass, looking intently at the young girl.
Rosie looked down bed replying. âJust a tough week at college.â She admitted softy, taking another sip of her drink.
Jo frowned. âYou know you can talk to me about anything, right sweetheart?â
there was the loudest crash, something that logan would later describe as the sound of the initial big bang, as a pitcher dispenser filled with some sort of fruity drink went crashing to the floor. and in a panic, he ducked behind the nearest person to his right. âshhh! act natural. iâm not here, i didnât do anything, you havenât seen me all night!â
Jo heard the crash but felt her son go behind her then the squeak of his voice. She chuckled. âWhat did you do?â She turned around to look at him. He really was his fatherâs son - getting into mischief. âI mean, how did you manage to knock the pitcher down?â She asked him, frowning.

Jo blushed at her husband. Whenever Alex even looked at her she would get butterflies - even after all these years. She knew he was the one. She paused at the wine table, grabbing a glass before she offered one to her husband. âYou donât look so bad yourself.â She grinned, before she nodded. âThatâs very doubtful, but sure. I really hope the cupcakes are good..â she mused before walking with Alex towards the banquet table.
âi can dress up occasionally,â he responded with a smirk. alex hated suits, but it was a formal event and he didnât want to get yelled at for not wearing âappropriate attireâ. âi know itâs doubtful, but itâs free food, so it canât be too horrible.â yes, it could, but he was trying to convince himself otherwise. âthe cupcakes are the best part.âÂ
âYou sure dressed up at our wedding.â She chuckled at him. âI already promised Rosie pizza on the way home and cinnamon sticks so Iâll stick to the sweets.â She grinned before letting his hand go to grab a chocolate cupcake. She put one of her fingers on the icing then she called to Alex. âAlex.â She smirked, evilly before she smeared the icing on his nose, laughing. âI love you.â She grinned before licking off her finger.
âReally?â Rosie laughed. âThanks mom, this can stay between us.â She promised before picking up a glass of white wine and taking a sip. âDonât look so shocked, we both know this isnât the first time Iâve drank.â
âI only came cause itâs once a year, and Iâm required to by work standards. I would rather be watching a movie with sweat pants and a t-shirt.â She shrugged. âIt better. Iâll get in trouble with your father if he finds out.â She winked at Rosie before she took a sip of her own wine. âI know. Iâm just surprised because you actually asked.â
âI canât believe I actually have to be here. Like, I know the stories about it are legendary and everything, but I have a cold and I look like shit and all I want to do is go home and have the ultimate pity party.â
âJust stay for a couple hours Rosie. Then you can go home, okay darling?â Jo smiled at her firstborn. âIs that too much to ask?â
âOkay.â She sighed. âCan we at least get pizza on our way home? The last time I had food here I got food poisoning.â
âYes. Pizza sounds great. We can even get those cinnamon sticks you like?â She suggested, hoping it would cheer her daughter up.
âItâs actually busier than it was at the last gala.â Jo mused as she took a sip out of her wine glass - realizing it was almost empty. She wandered to the wine table to grab another glass. âEveryone does look good though.âÂ
âit is a lot busier.â alex agreed with his wife, walking over to the wine table with her. âthey might look good, but you look great,â he told her, offering a smile. âyou hungry? we can go check out the food - maybe it wonât all be crap.âÂ

âthere are a lot of people.â she nodded in agreement. âeveryone looks amazing, but i canât say that Iâm exactly thrilled to be here.â It was no secret that crowds and fancy dresses really werenât her thing. âbut you know what would make this evening more tolerable? alcohol.â
âWe have that in common baby girl.â She smiled at Rosie. She looked to Rosie, a shocked look coming to rest on her face. âAre you actually asking if you can drink?â She chuckled. âGo ahead but donât let your father see.â

Arizona grinned at the woman before her before nodding her head, âyeah, I can be your replacement Alex until he gets here,â she agreed before laughing. âYou do too, I like your dress.â she complimented softly with a smile before taking a sip of her own drink. âAre you having a decent time?â
Jo grinned at Arizona, looking at the blonde. âWhereâs Callie?â She asked as she nodded her head. âThank you. Iâm not really a dressy person so that makes my confidence skyrocket.â She really wasnât. She would take sneakers and jeans over a dress any day. âItâs so much fun, plus itâs great for the kids. Are you having a good time?â
Izzie wasnât sure this was the best idea sheâs had in the last month⊠in the last year, even. A part of her wanted to fly back out through the door before it was too late, but there was another part of her that wanted to stay. A part of her that had honestly and genuinely missed not only this place, not only the city but the people she got to know here. The people she hadnât seen for years. For some of them â even decades. Taking a deep breath, with a half-finished glass of wine in her hand, Izzie walked towards the banquet table, scanning it through. âYou know,â she spoke when she felt a figure coming close from behind her, âitâs been over twenty years, and I still donât know if I trust half of the food on this table.â
Jo smiled as she wandered around the Gala, looking around at everyone. Wandering over to the buffet table, she grabbed one of the cupcakes before looking to the blonde woman. âTwenty years? You mustâve been an intern with Alex then.â Although Alex had told Jo about Izzie, she had never seen a picture of the blonde. âAnd yeah, thatâs why I stick --â She gestured to the cupcake in her hand âto the chocolate cupcakes.â She smiled at the blonde.Â
âYâknow â now that Iâm thinking about it, the last gala I went to created such a downward spiral for everyone involved. This oneâs already a better time, no closet drinking so far,â Arizona hummed softly as she took a sip of her wine. âThough, if someone asks me one more time what a pretty lady like myself is doing here alone, I may have to throw hands. The hottest of us sometimes just have their spouses have to work.â Not that she was complaining.Â
Jo chuckled, coming to stand beside Arizona. âYou're not alone.  You're with me.â She smiled at Arizona. âIf thatâs cool? Alex isnât here yet and you're like the only one without their spouse here as well.â She shrugged before she took a sip of wine, before eyeing Arizona. âYou look beautiful!â

Gala 2017
Ditching || Rosie and Jo || Closed RP
She should not be doing this. She was an adult. She shouldnât condone ditching class - or work but she missed her Rosie. She hadnât had any mother/daughter time with just Rosie in months and she needed this.Â
Everything at the hospital had quieted down and she sort of used a sick day to get into her car and drive to Rosieâs college campus and just sat in the car after she parked.Â
She pulled out her Iphone, pulling up Rosieâs contact info and shot her a quick text.
Jo: Iâm outside. Grab your stuff and letâs go.Â
Jo: Oh, and donât tell your father. Iâm supposed to be at home sick.Â
She sent the text, before pocketing her phone and just waited for her Rosie to come out.Â
âI canât believe I actually have to be here. Like, I know the stories about it are legendary and everything, but I have a cold and I look like shit and all I want to do is go home and have the ultimate pity party.â
