Because of his leg, Harrison hadn’t had the time to be active. But now that the doctor took off his cast and gave him the go signal, he hit up Atticus for a bit of one-on-one basketball game. When he learned that he had a brother, he wanted to get to know him better. Harrison grew up alone with no siblings. Meeting Phoebe and getting to know her was an interesting experience. He was himself around her, so sure he’d be the same around Atticus, right? 

Harrison sat on one of the benches near the basketball court waiting patiently for his brother. A grin appeared on his face when he saw Atticus walking towards him. He stood up ready to greet him. “Are you generally a late person or were you debating on whether you’d want to get your ass kicked at basketball?”

I’m feeling extra generous so you can get a head start.” Anya tilted her head to the side, chuckling at the mental image of him hobbling along at full-speed. “As much as I appreciate your company, I would like to live out my fantasies with my future doctor spouse in a Harrison-free zone. I don’t think I could compete with your charm anyway so you can take your cock-blocking abilities and dodgy leg elsewhere.”

“How generous of you,” Harrison said sarcastically. It was a pity that he won’t be able to run as he used to for a few more weeks. His powers did depend on his ability to run. He did try it before though, running at full speed. He ended up in the Emergency Room again. The look on the surgeons face when she saw that it was him again. “Yes, my human abilities - cock blocking. I’d have to thank my mother for that. Apparently, it was one of her best abilities,” he admitted. “Me not in your future? Thank fuck, it’s only a fantasy. But also, a doctor spouse? Really?”

Did you forget that I have the personality of Red Bull and Cocaine’s love child?” she asked in disbelief. “I’ll do my best to resist evening you out with a break of the other leg,” she teased as she rolled her eyes as they began heading toward the bakery. “So handsome, got any other juicy gossip for me besides the Minotaur attack? Been behaving yourself?” she asked curiously.

“You’re probably the last person who’d turn down money,” Harrison replied and chuckled. He had his fair share of hyper Ivy. He still remembers his first encounter with her. He thought she turned down him down when he offered her cake for dietary reasons. It turned out that she avoided sugar mostly for his and other people’s sake and not hers. “Sugar-free. You’re getting the sugar-free. I’m sure Phoebe has some. I need sanity right now. That’s what I need from you. Sanity,” he emphasized. “Don’t you dare,” Harrison said as he pat his left leg and wiggled his index finger at her. “Well, you’re gonna be in for a shock. First, can you believe that I haven’t had sex since the incident? And second, I have a brother. His name’s Atticus. I’m not surprised though. Hermes was a ladies man. I’m assuming I got that from him.”

With a grin she scrunches up her nose. “My name’s Charlie and you know, I bet my number sounds nicer than yours. Want to hear it?” She questions with a smirk pulling at her lips. “It’s probably just twisted, but be my guest.”

Harrison smirked when she made an attempt to flirt. Atleast she was willing to flirt back, he thought. “Harrison,” he introduced himself. “And only if you put it on my phone,” he replied with a smirk. He bent down and touched her ankle. Coming from a varsity background, he certainly had a fair share of sprained ankles. “Your foot seems fine. No bruising which is a good sign. If it hurts, nothing a little ice can’t fix. That’s what I always do.”

“And there it is: another sufferer of the inflated ego. No wonder you two got along so well.” Theo clicked his tongue, shaking his head disapproving. “For someone who is such an advocate for inner beauty, she sure is shallow. I always knew her taste was questionable but this takes the cake.” There was a teasing undertone to Theo’s words as he spoke. He didn’t know Harrison well enough to judge him. The only information he knew about him was relayed through his cousin and she wasn’t the most reliable source at times. He had never heard her utter so many profanities about one person in such a short space of time. After that, he learned never to ask about Harrison. Theo took hold of Harrison’s phone, a surprised yelp filling the air. “I stand by my statement. One Harrison is enough. We really don’t need a baby-faced version gallivanting around too. Those curls though. I’m starting a petition for them to make a comeback.”

Harrison scoffed. “Excuse me? I’m sure there’s more to me somewhere in this hard exterior. You need to keep your voice low. If she heard you, we’re both dead. Who knows where she is right now. She’s one of the few who easily gets hold of gossip. Do you think it’s because of the wind? You think it carries words in the air and just whizzes through her ears? I’ve always wondered, but I never bothered asking.” Harrison never did ask Anya. He never knew her mood when they’d meet up, but one of his favorites was she when she sexually frustrated. Theo was definitely the opposite of her. But whenever he’d ask Anya about him, her answers were curt. In the end, he decided that it was best for his well-being (and sex life) that he didn’t ask any further. "Man, I’d be surprised as well if I did have a kid. I’m amazed that no one has gone up to me and told me that I have a kid. Can you imagine? I’d be terrified. There’s a reason why I keep my hair short, Theo, and it is because of that,” he said as he put back his phone in his pocket.

Harrison knew people like Genevieve — heartbroken, in pain, and feeling hopeless. But what no one knew was that he also used to be like that, so he understood her pain. Because pain was pain and it is a part of life. He had to constantly remind himself to conquer the pain, and not let it conquer him. He hoped that Gen would do the same. Her face was warm in his hand. “You’re still Genevieve. The Genevieve now and the one that I met years ago is the same person who’s a lot wiser and tougher.” He nodded when she mentioned his presence during her most difficult time and gave her a reassuring smile. “Hey, it’s okay. We’re here for each other, no matter how fucked up we all are individually. Hayden was worried. We all were. You’re not a bother, Gen. Never a bother. We got your back. We’ll be here no matter what. I’m no matter what, okay?”

“But goats are the best part!” she whined playfully. “But fine, if that is what I must sacrifice for my travel buddy, then so be it,” she theatrically placed her arm over her head as women in the old days did before laughing at his joke. “Oh yea, okay, Mr. Love Child,” she teased. “Cherish it, my dear, because you and I both know that  thoughtful isn’t exactly in my repertoire, and I usually charge extra for costumes,” she joked, “But for you i’ll make an exception.”  Her eyes darted from the wreckage to Harrison at the mention of cupcakes, “You willingly going to load me up on sugar? Homie they should have checked that head a second time,” she teases as she walks closer to him. “Sounds good to me! You need any help?” she offered, wondering if it would be easier for her to help him get around or if he’d prefer to do it on his own.

Harrison shook his head when she wined. Goats, fascinating creatures as they are, were terrifying especially when they’ve gone crazy. He’d seen enough of goat videos to know what triggered them. “Extra charge for the costumes? Deal. I’ll probably even slip a bill or two in that pocket”, he joked back. “Why does everyone ask if I hit my head?! You’re like the twelfth person to ask that to me. Is it that really hard to believe that I’m fine?” Harrison asked, shaking his head in disbelief. Was he really that different from a few days before? It seemed like everyone doubted his words now. “t’s okay. I got it. Thank you for offering, but I think I can walk with one leg and crutches. Well. so long as no one breaks the other leg, then I’m good.”

“You sure about that? We’re awfully close.” She teases with a laugh as she blushes lightly and looks down, examining her ankles. “No, I don’t think I di-” A squeak escapes when she turns her right ankle. “I’m fine.”

Harrison let his head down and let out a chuckle before answering. “I’m sure I can do something about it,“ Harrison said with a grin. “That doesn’t sound fine to me. Do you mind if I check your ankle?”

Anya scoffed, scrunching up her face in disgust. She could pretend to hate Harrison all she wanted, but she still had a soft spot for him— one she wasn’t very good at hiding. “Pffft crying. Sure. In your dreams, Harrison. Your lonely comatose dreams.” His teasing elicited a drawn out sigh to fall from her lips. “Be careful or I’ll break your other leg. Then I’ll proceed to crash all your appointments so I can hit on the doctors.”

“Let a man dream once in a while. Give me a little something to hope for,” he replied, trying to stifle a laugh, his grin widening. “I expect nothing less from you, but please don’t. I would still like to be able to walk. My powers are pretty much useless when I can’t stand on both feet. What about you not break my leg and we get a doctor between the two of us? Now that’s not a dream, that’s a fantasy. A fantastic one, i might add.”

Adrian smirked at Harrison. It was a good thing nothing happened to his face at least, since it was one of his assets in this industry. He never really understood what it was with the demigods who tried to charge at the minor with no armor or weapons like they had forgotten that they were all still mortal. Maybe it was a convoluted sense of patriotism, or a quick fight-or-flight response from an imminent threat to their (and their loved ones’) lives. Whatever it was, he didn’t think he’d ever have that drive to risk his life like that if he didn’t have anything to gain in return. What good was he to his future patients, dead, anyway? “I stayed out of trouble, as you should have had,” he admonished with a raise of an eyebrow. “I tried to help from a faraway distance, but when it got to much, I ran off to safety,” he explained, crossing his legs and leaning on the bar table. “You and a whole army of people, really,” he said, as he smiled and nodded at the idea of going upstairs. “Yeah, I could use a Chef Emil special.”  

Harrison grinned at him. He always liked the smart guys, but if he was being honest he had no preference other than them being into him. That was his only requirement to all of the people he’s been involved with. As for Adrian, he was just one of those people that had some sort of aura that appealed to Harrison. A slight bad boy aura maybe. The boy did know how to work his charm, that’s for sure. He would’ve accepted him immediately as one of his dancers, but Ava beat him to it. Even the woman saw something in him. “Alright. I’ll keep that in mind for next time just for you. But maybe next time, just say that you actually care,” he suggested, raising a brow as he finished the drink in his hand. He placed the glass on the bar counter and signaled to the bartender to bring them drinks in one of the rooms upstairs and to tell Chef Emil to bring them food as well. “Follow me.” Harrison led him up the stairs and into one of the private rooms, a darker and more secluded part of the club. The room had wide glass window that would still let anyone and everyone see the main entertainment — the dancers. Harrison gestured to his special guest the sofa facing the glass window as he took a seat. “Adrian, I don’t mean to pry, but I did hear that you knew my brother. Does the name Atticus ring any bell?”

“Cultured in the literal sense perhaps, but not in the Disney sense. Can’t have it all, I guess,” he shrugged. “So defensive, Harrison. What she saw in you, I will never understand.” Theo tsked loudly with a grin. “No one is ever too old for Disney shows. But I will suggest trying to keep your sanity for as long as you can. Wait until you have a kid who refuses to watch anything else but the same Disney movie over and over.” He wrinkled his face up in mock disgust. “… A mini version of you? Oh god, that’s terrifying. Please do the world a favor and never procreate.”

“What do you mean you don’t understand? I thought looking at me was already the answer.” Harrison grinned, but groaned when Theo mentioned kids. Growing up alone, it definitely put Harrison at a disadvantage when he would talk about siblings. He was always the lone wolf. His late mother was also an only child, so he had no aunts, uncles or, cousins. Most of the people who he now calls family were friends that he bonded with and trusted for a long time. “It’s not that terrifying, Theo. Okay, maybe a little terrifying. But imagine a handsome face like this on a small child. You haven’t even seen my baby photos. Don’t judge too quickly now,” he defended, quickly getting his phone, pulling up a picture of his and his grandparents, and handing it to him. “Excuse the hair though. The curls never really worked for me as a kid.”

Harrison laughed when Hayden defended himself. When they first met, Harrison instantly knew Hayden was someone he could bond with easily even with the six-year gap between them. “Oh, please. True, I can have you anytime, but no one wanting me is just incredibly difficult to imagine. I’ve seen girls and guys line up just to have a little taste of this. I can’t always give them what they want except for the best night of their entire lives,” he argued. He took the plate from him and took a leg from the box, smelling it before taking a bite of the freshly cooked chicken. “4 months, give or take. I’m sure I can find some demigod with a healing ability who’d be more than willing to help. I might even compensate them with the best night of his or her entire life.” Harrison sighed when he heard Gen’s name. “I haven’t, man. I left her a couple of messages. She’s also not answering you, too?” he asked and took another bite of the chicken before getting another piece. “I think i’ll head to her apartment after this. ”

A laugh escapes as she cranes her neck to look over at the man. “We are best friends actually, we’re inseparable.” Charlie remarks as she takes his hand. “Oh, that’s very kind of you, thank you for that.” She says as she gets up and dusts herself off.

“Well I guess I’ll have to be the one to do the separating,” Harrison said with a smirk. He lets his eyes check her out as she dusts herself off. He was never good with guessing people’s age, but he’d say she’s in her mid-twenties which made his flirty comment acceptable. “Happy to help. You didn’t twist your ankle or anything, right?”

Well, I’m the only son of my late mother. I don’t think she had any, oh god. I do have siblings on my father’s side. The thing about being demigods is that you’re probably not the only child of some god or goddess.

The waves, especially at night. For context, I traveled to Fiji a few years back right before coming to Icaria, and I just remember not sleeping well on the first night. The next night, I decided to open the doors of the balcony that I was staying at and the waves crashing was just so relaxing. I didn’t fall asleep at first, but I eventually did.
