The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (1961) Directed by Karel Zeman
If you EVER think Anthony Head is anything less than an angel then you’d best remember that I have always been a huge fan of his and we’ve always had a little contact over the years and he heard I’d come out as Trans and was having a hard time and that I was kind of sad that the photos I had from conventions with him were of me with long hair and no binder and they were all signed to “Sarah” and so he invited me to spend the day with him at his farm and he picked me up from the station and we just hung out and had lunch and he insisted on paying and took loads of photos and had them printed on photo paper the same day so he could sign them to Jay, along with other photos of him as Giles and Uther and he literally spent five hours chatting with me and got all of the pronoun stuff right every time and then he dropped me off at the station, gave me a final massive hug, waved me through the ticket barrier and insisted I message him when I got home so he knew I got back safe. (More HERE)
Feel like now is a good time to remind people of this.
Stills from one of my favorite films that is available to watch for free on YouTube. It layers live action with stop motion animation, and illustrated backgrounds that are inspired by Gustave Doré.
The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (dir by Karel Zeman, 1962).
🌙
This delightful Czech adventure movie revolves around the enigmatic Baron Munchausen whose imagination gets him to wacky endeavours. If the settings look familiar to you, it's because they used etchings by Gustave Doré to blend 2D animation with live action. This is an absolute gem that I highly recommend!

if you dont decouple your drive to create from your desire for attention you will go insane. simple as. you will never feel satisfied b/c you will always want more and you will feel perpetually bitter that you did not get what you are “owed”
It’s an unpopular opinion but it is absolutely and completely true. I’ve never seen someone who creates for engagement happy with the engagement they get. I posit they can’t ever be happy that way because it will NEVER be enough
I agree with OP and Manka so very much.
You have to rest in your own desire to create.
But, because I see statements like this turn into a sort of general notion of “it’s bad to want validation or attention or engagement”, and to me, that’s not what this means.
It’s perfectly valid to want people to like and engage with what you create. In a general sense, when you create anything, you do it to share with other human beings. Art, craft, food, anything you create is a way to connect with others through our shared humanity.
And wanting someone to like you fanart or read your fanfic is part of that.
the words used by OP is decouple, and this is important. Nothing wrong wanting engagement. But it cannot be tightly coupled with the drive to create.
Figuring out designs...
I am happy with dogged's portrait, I think it captures how I pictured her quite well! But I feel that timmer should be a little more disheveled, I made them too neat and pretty
Giant Evil Horse I love your terrible noises, treasonous nature, and hyperviolent ecological defence strategies
*nervous laughter* hahaha what a strange coincidence...

the nametaker: hey, check this shit out. alexa, play despacito [rotting corpse starts shrieking] pretty cool, eh? why don't you ask me how much it cost. go on. i know you want to.
