*there goes your heart*
worldclasscoward:
Finally, the “friend” was brought up directly, the thing that lingered at the back of Ricochet’s mind the whole time he’d been sitting there. “Well, you can’t poison an exo, so I think I have a few points there.” He joked, with the hint of a smirk. His suspicions as to what happened coming to light, though it felt like there was a pretty good chance he was right about what happened.
However, almost right after he said that, her knife appeared pretty much out of nowhere. Ricochet’s red eyes brightened a bit as he looked at the blade. “You can, however, still fuck an exo up in other ways…” He said, eyes flicking back up a bit. He wouldn’t pretend that there wasn’t a shred of him that was absolutely fucking terrified of Nova, both in general, but especially as the conversation kept going on. But…
“Though, not all of those ways would be so bad, probably.” He added, perhaps pushing it just a tiny little shred. It’s not like he actually wanted to get violently hurt or anything. But, at the same time, it was like a game, one that could be enjoyed to a point.
Though, still, a game he probably shouldn’t be so eager to play.
“Ah yes, my poor ‘friend’ didn’t have the right immunity. Or the antidote. A shame that his particular business in a certain market will crumble because of this.” The comment was a little sarcastic, but she smiled, proud of her successful venture. She was, honestly just screwing with him. Her sick sense of humour made her giggle at his reaction to the knife she played with. “You are cute, I’ll give you that.”
She, of course enjoyed the game she played. It was a much more interesting game then that of patrolling the city walls. “I’m not sure you want to be tangled in this spider web, miel. Not that I would mind.” Nasreen shifted closer to Ricochet, twirling the knife between her fingers before the butterfly knife whirled shut in her hand. “Think you can handle me?”
worldclasscoward:
Of all the directions that the conversation could go, the last thing that Ricochet would have expected was for Narseen – Nova, as she’d introduced herself – to bring up Dev. His face flickered with a strange since of confusion, before he managed to push that back down, a smile replacing it.
“My husband…” He repeated with a small laugh. Ricochet didn’t especially put out there that he was married, but he wasn’t about to deny it, either. It was more of a thing he just didn’t bring up because there wasn’t often a good enough reason to. “So you’re beautiful, dangerous and you’ve learned all about me since I last saw you?”
But after he joked, Ricochet made sure to say, not wanting to seem like he was being dishonest or anything. “He knows I’m here.” He added. “And to be honest, he’s used to me making questionable decisions.” Leaning forward just barely, the exo gives Narseen a questioning look up and down.“The biggest question is, though, will I regret this particular one?”
“Por supuesto que tengo miel. Regret though? Why on earth would you regret it? Unless you’re thinking of my poor ‘friend’.” Nasreen, of course watched his with her almost predatory eyes. Her smirk grew and she giggled rather innocently. “I have nothing against you, cariño. You haven't crossed that path. I wouldn’t dare dream of making you regret.”
With that she drew a knife, twirling it between her fingers before holding the blade to her lips playfully. “Unless you fancy for a ride yourself.”

worldclasscoward:
His eyes traveled back and forth for a moment, between the woman and the seat that she was patting for him. There was still the smallest shred of ‘you-shouldn’t-be-doing-this’ in his mind, but Ricochet had ignored it so far, and he continued to do so as he let himself sit down with her.
There was a small laugh from him, before he answered. “It was a bit confusing at first, but I’m glad I figured it out.” He said, not mentioning the fact his ghost had been the one to actually figure it out. Ricochet probably never would have thought to scan it on his own.
“Honestly, I never thought I’d see you again. You seem…”He paused, searching for the correct word. “Mysterious.” Not quite there yet – no. The elephant in the room felt huge then, and he added one more word, easing into the topic of what he’d seen after she’d left the club. “Dangerous.”
Nasreen herself, didn’t seem to notice the elephant in the room, much less be bothered by it. However, she’d indulge him in her own little way. Why not? There was a gleam in her eyes upon hearing his select choice of words. “Ah, you noticed? I do give off that sort of vibe don’t I?”
The woman hummed, grazing her nails over her lips with a little smirk. “I shouldn’t have been surprised to find someone like you calling back.” There was a pause and her dark eyes flicked up toward’s Ricochet’s optics, one brow raising at her next question. “Don’t you think your husband would be worried about you hanging out with someone like me?”
worldclasscoward:
Baby had been the one to figure out the card wasn’t blank like Ricochet thought, seeing it sitting on her guardian’s nightstand and just happening to notice the engraved number. After that, the exo had spent a long time debating on whether or not to call. After that man had dropped dead, after being pretty sure Nova was the cause, he knew it was a bad idea.
But Ricochet had no impulse control. And he contacted her anyway.
He arrived at the location she’d told him. A place he hadn’t been before, which was a bit unusual for him. Out of his element. He’d dressed simple – dark and tight clothing. Nothing that really stood out, but fit his sleeker, hunter form.
It only took a short minute to find her, surprised to find her in the VIP section at first. But the surprise quickly passed. Of course this woman was in the VIP section.
Ricochet was almost nervous as he approached, but he tried to hold his head high. Stride right up to the booth. Speak with a shred of confidence. “Just as gorgeous as I remember.” The back of his mind reeled, remembering what had happened. But for now, he waited to see how she reacted to his greeting. “Hey, there.”
She looked up from her phone and upon seeing the exo, a bright and playful smile emerged on her features. “Hmm, Hello again.”
The edge of her lip curled into a cute little smirk and she ran on hand through her long ponytail. “And you are just as cute as I remember.” she chimed playfully before her hand, reached over to the seat beside her and patted it. Beckoning him to sit down with her.
“I must say, hearing back from you was a little more surprising then I thought. Liked my little card?”
worldclasscoward:
Her words were a bit disappointing, but Ricochet felt like he was up for a challenge – until, of course, she immediately told him that she had to go, putting an end to any hopes of something happening tonight.
The exo watched with a frown as she went up to her ‘friend’ again – kissing him, and he was pretty sure she was side-eying him the whole time. Was she just messing with him? Trying to make him more jealous? If so, maybe it was working a bit, because there was a small swirling disappointment that he wasn’t the one who got that kiss.
Ricochet watched as she disappeared after, his attention finally turning back to the card that she’d slid him. Picking it up, holding it in his fingers with a sense of confusion. It seemed blank to him. Worthless. But he still found himself sliding it into his pocket for later. A reminder, he supposed.
He ordered one more drink, figuring that he’d go after. Sitting on the stool, mind wandering – thinking about what had happened. And that’s when the screaming began.
Of course, his attention tore from his own thoughts, seeing a crowd beginning to gather nearby. Curious, he slid of the stool… wondering what was going on. Was someone fighting? Or something else? He managed to get his way into the crowd, eyes finding the source of all the commotion.
Him. The guy Nova had been with – laying on the floor, twisting and foaming at the mouth.
“I think he’s been poisoned!” Someone shrieked. Someone else, yelling to call someone. A voice saying for people to get back. All of it mixing together and pushed to the back of Ricochet’s mind.
Ricochet stared. His mind slowly processing. She had kissed this man only minutes before. Something about her had seemed a bit strange. Dark.
There was a flutter in Ricochet’s chest as he looked up, in the direction he’d seen her go off in. There wasn’t any real, logical way to know for sure, but in that moment, he just felt like he knew she’d done it.
Shit. He’d almost tried to make out with a murder.
And – shit.
He still wanted to.
Assuming he had eventually figured out the near invisible, encrypted number she had given him, Nasreen was surprised to find him contacting her one day. Not that she had doubted his ability, but she didn’t often get a call back.
Of course she wouldn’t mind meeting up with him. She wasn’t lying when she said she found him cute. Admittedly, she loved how he almost melted when she got up close and personal.
So she told him to meet her at a little place near the outskirts. A bar that was popular in that part of the district. It was early evening when she told him to meet her there.
Nasreen would be seated in a little ‘VIP’ booth in the back of the bar, eyes down at her phone. Sporting herself, in a nice black halter top with leather pants, hair pulled back into a neat ponytail. She was waiting for him to show up, quite unaffected by the event that had fallen at least a few days ago.
worldclasscoward:
He was surprised when Nova’s finger traced his face, but he of course allowed it, not daring to pull away from the light touch. Her question was also unexpected – but he gave a short laugh, maybe a bit nervously with how things had taken a sudden, slightly-intimate turn. “Well, now I’m thinking the answer might be no.”
Don’t let the situation slip away. His mind reeled a bit, and he found himself daring to bring himself just a bit closer to Nova, letting his voice become quieter as he spoke. “Well, if you’re not interested in him…” He said. “Que hay de mí?”
Her cute smile glowed under the dim lights and there was a gleam in her dark, playful eyes. She looked over him and tapped his chin a couple times. “Quizás. No soy tan fácil, cariño.”
Nasreen reached into her jeans pocket, producing a small card and a pack of gum. She slid the card forward on the counter towards him, before popping a piece of red gum into her mouth. “I'm afraid I must disappear now, cariño. Hit me up, if you want to hang out.” Nasreen took her hand away from his chin, poking his lips as she walked into the crowd, towards her ‘friend’ who had just appeared from the back of the club. She pulled him into a deep kiss, watching Ricochet from the corner of her eyes with what could be considered a little grin on her lips. When she pulled away, she bid her farewell to him and disappeared in the crowd entirely.
The card was seemingly blank, with a smooth film over it that gleamed in the light. It was strange but if his ghost would look at it, it seemed to have an encrypted phone number written in some special ink.
It wouldn’t be another ten minutes before her so called ‘friend’ collapsed and began to foam out the mouth, people shrieking in response.
worldclasscoward:
“Jealous?” Ricochet repeated the word, his voice just a little higher than normal. Quickly, though, he tried to recover. “No– no, I just –”
A pause. He forced himself to stop talking, realizing how badly he was tripping over his words. “I just think that I could be a lot more interesting tonight.” He finished. From what he’d noticed, this guy just seemed to walk around with Nova, barely even appreciate her.
If she told him to go, he would. But Ricochet couldn’t help but give this one last, small chance.
His reaction to her teasing remark made her giggle in a rather cute manner. Nasreen had to admit, he was pretty cute with how he tripping over his words.
Leaning closer to him, enough to talk in a quiet tone, she reached to him with one elegant hand, tracing the exo’s jawline with her sleek fingernail until she got to his chin. She rested her finger under his chin to direct his attention towards her. “You think I’m actually interested in that niño bastardo?” Nasreen almost grinned as she said this, on the verge of a laughing fit even.
worldclasscoward:
Ricochet watched the scene unfold before him with a strange sense of unhappiness in his chest. But, more than just obvious disappointment – there was something he just didn’t really like about the way the man called her over, put his arm around her, acted almost like he owned her.
He tried to say it wasn’t any of his business, but the more he mulled it over, the more he felt like… he wanted – no, he had to talk to her again. Despite the fact it was probably a bad idea.
He went about his night, but every once in a while, he found his eyes scanning for the woman again. For a while, she was with this man, her ‘friend’, but one time his eyes fell upon her and she was finally alone again. Downing the rest of the drink he’d bought in the meantime, he found himself making his way over to her. The well-dressed man didn’t seem to be around for now.
“Your ’friend’ seems pretty boring.” He found himself saying, sliding up to her. Ricochet knew that bothering her may be a risk, but… he supposed he was feeling a bit risky that night.
Nasreen had leaned on the bar, alone again after her friend had slipped away to do his business in the back of the club. She had been peering down at her phone when Ricochet slid up.
Perking up, the screen went black and she looked to Ricochet. He was back? That was a first. “Hm? I suppose you’re right.”
She smirked. The woman didn't seem to bothered by it. What was with her? “You’re jealous?” Nasreen asked playfully, tapping her finger nail against her lip, leaning a little closer to him.

worldclasscoward:
Ricochet’s eyes followed her gaze, taking a second to find who she was talking to. And then, he sees the man – tall and businesslike. Attractive. Eyes slowly shifted back to Nova, looking at her with a slightly unsure expression. “Him?”
Damn, if those are the people she came with, Ricochet was surprised this woman was giving him the time of day. But he tried not to let that stop him from talking to her as he asked.“Not the kind of friends I was expecting.” He admitted, having been picturing other women with her at first. It didn’t seem like it was right, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “How do you know him?”
“I get that a lot.” she replied before making a little giggle towards the exo’s reaction. “Friend of a friend.” Nasreen said, nodding slowly before she sipped her drink.
She cleared her throat for a moment. “I’ve become his little eye candy he keeps in his pocket from time to time.” Nasreen almost treated it like a normal thing.
Ricochet wouldn’t get much of a word in however before she perked up upon seeing the man turn his gaze to them. The look he gave her and the exo made her look away for a moment before, shifting in her seat to stand up. “Sorry, cariño. Looks like he wants me. Nice talkin’ to ya.” The woman offered a cute little wave and a wink. She even made a little kiss in Ricochet’s direction!
With that she got up strode over to join her ‘friend’. It was apparent as she came close to him, that they were more then friends, seeing his hand snake around her waist like that.
worldclasscoward:
Ricochet took note of what she said, though in his mind, he legitimately couldn’t believe that anyone would abandon this girl to be on her lonesome. He wasn’t just playing it up to be flirty; he really thought she looked gorgeous.
“No one but you.” He said, simply, with a smile. But then gave a more legitimate answer for her. “I came alone, I usually do.”
Ah, so he was a regular. This was only, perhaps the third time that she had been to this particular club. Nasreen had just been warming up to this place, before she peered up and soon spotted a certain man standing by the bar.
She looked to Ricochet and flicked her eyes in the man’s direction. “See him? One of my ‘friends’.” The man was a tall gentleman, light skin, dark hair and eyes, sleek, nice jawline, neatly groomed. He seemed like some sort of business man. Who knew of what. He was standing with a bunch of other similarly dressed men. Nasreen looked back to Ricochet, one brow raised with a half smile.
worldclasscoward:
Nova. There was still a hint of a smile on his face as the name settled over his mind. Nova. It suited her. He’d make sure not to forget that.
“I think so. Put on trial for blasphemy, even.” He joked with her, leaning forward just barely then so he could rest his head against his hand, propped up with his elbow. “There’s obviously something wrong with them if they’d leave you behind.”
She ran her free hand through her ponytail, hair settling over her shoulder as she did so. “Yeah, they aren’t exactly good friends.” Nasreen said, pursing her lips.
Nasreen seemed rather salty towards her apparent ‘friends’. “You here with anyone?” she asked, first scanning the crowd for a moment before laying her eyes back onto the exo beside her.
worldclasscoward:
As Ricochet sat down, he made sure to leave some space between them, at least for now. He didn’t like to push it. Didn’t want to be a creep. But he smiled at her words, tilting his body slightly so he was facing her. “More like… I just saw a beautiful distraction.” He said, nodding his head in her direction.“And thought it would be a crime not to give her some company.”
He gave that a moment to settle, before he said. “Name’s Ricochet.”
Nasreen found herself smiling at just how corny that was, letting out a soft laugh. She felt playful tonight. “Nova.” she stated off her nickname, preferring it in this situation.
One finger came up to her lips, nail tapping her bottom lip. “This beautiful distraction doesn’t mind. Maybe my friends should be arrested for that crime.” she almost chuckled as she sipped at her drink. Seems her friends abandoned her.
"What do you think, Ricochet?"
worldclasscoward:
He’d seen her from across his spot at the bar – almost cliche in the way his eyes zoomed in, and in that moment, no one else in the club seemed to matter. Quickly downing the rest of his drink, the exo pushed himself off of the stool and weaved his way over there.
“There’s no reason someone so gorgeous should be sitting alone.” Ricochet said, his eyes moving to the spot on the couch next to the woman. But he didn’t move to sit, not yet, motioning and asking for permission. “May I?”
Dark brown eyes gazed down into the electric blue drink settled on the drink in her hand for a time, enjoying the beat of the club, being away from the current crowd.
Nasreen’s red lips parted a moment, gazing up towards the robotic voice, soon finding the exo standing before her. She debated for a moment but decided, why not. Her eyes flicked to the spot, with a soft nod as if granting permission. “You may.” she said in a smooth tone. “Tire of the crowd, stranger?” she asked now in her heavy accent, crossing one leg over the other.
