And this is what you get when you watch anime.

It's short, it has less of a "Shion" feel, Nezumi is more serious here (in the novel he's much more cheerful and friendly, which surprised me when I read it); there's great music and action - all of this makes the anime seem more serious and darker to me than the novel.

As for the "difference" in the explanations in the finale, you know, after the trick with Shion's father and the gold deposits around the city, which are in the materials of the novel, it seems to me that anything is ok
