Wait- so like, I need to give myself more context. Where was I going with this? I hardly leave ideas so short in my notes app. Digging up the archive of my brain (a convo w/ my sister maybe?). I’ll probably yap about my other notes later.

D-16 and Orion Pax slip out of the mines for a day somehow without alerting Darkwing or any of the other supervisors. The only reason D-16’s willingly going along with this scheme is because apparently “Somebot just slipped me two coupons for the spa that’s only a few blocks from the miner’s quarters!” coming from Orion’s vocal box doesn’t set off any alarms.
The two manage to find said spa after a few kliks of trial and error with decoding the vague directions “somebot” had given Orion. D-16 is surprised the coupons are probably legit and that Orion isn’t dealing with shady figures hiding in dark alleys that like to lure unsuspecting bots into their torture dens with vague promises of fame and fortune.
A receptionist greets the bots as they walk in. They take the coupons and leave D-16 and Orion hanging for almost an entire breem, which is a reasonable amount of time to set up a room for their use, but Dee’s obviously not even sure the coupons are valid. It seems like a stretch to Dee that some stranger would just give away two coupons for a high quality polishing, waxing, and paint touching up to a cogless miner that was sneaking around dark alleyways in the middle of the night. Apparently he was wrong, they were valid coupons and Orion had somehow conned him into getting pampered all day instead of working, which they will definitely get in trouble for when they go into work the next day. Orion wouldn’t let him think about work though, they were here to “relax” and “just have a quiet day together.”
It was a spectacular experience D-16 and Orion would have never expected to have thrust upon them. As they were polished or waxed or repainted, they talked about everything and nothing and sometimes their attendant would comment on whatever it was they were conversing on. No bot had been discriminating towards them either, they even came across a few fellow cogless bots that work as janitors or fellow masseuses. Dee and Orion’s armor had never been so well polished and all the grime that had built up in places one could never reach on their own without the proper tools was long gone.
Dee would never admit how much fun he had that day, Orion would though and he would dream of going again. Their supervisors will reprimand them harshly for their tardiness and be booted back two levels. They don’t mind, as long as they’re together everything will be fine.
Orion Pax was planning on saving as much shanix as he could to take Dee again someday, but things happen. Things get in the way. And bots get shot all the time.
At least that’s how Optimus comforts himself as he stalks past that now abandoned spa and only lets himself reminisce for a few nanokliks before remembering he was in a war, fighting the only bot he had ever loved so deeply.
happy august, take an OP painting i finished a while ago. ahh it was a rushed photo, i should’ve captured it in a better light before i sent it away. i’ll probably fix it up when i get it back in a few weeks
