and then you go in to look and you find it had a sample size of 40

Reblogging this, since the arrival of @doginprogress ’s wire Ibizan puppy has blown people’s minds.

Ibizans come in smooth and wire. Neither coat type is preferred over the other. You can breed the two coat types together with no issues. There is a huge range in wire lengths, including “genetic wires” that are technically wire but appear smooth.

Even in the smooths, there is a range in coat length. Seren has a lot of fringe, which is a common Amberlithe hallmark. Dawn, on the other hand, has hardly any fringe.

Jadis is smooth, but she has a lot of wire in her pedigree. You can feel it in her coat… it’s different than dogs with pure (or predominantly) smooth pedigrees.
