day three. bait. i had this whole thought about an underwater food chain and was planning a whole composition but then i got stuck thinking about krill?? and i’m tired, so. here’s the krill.
inktober day two. is my brain even doing a good job piloting this body? maybe i should give it up and let my skeleton take the wheel. she’s ready for it.
it’s inktober y’all 🌿🌱

finally wrapped up this lil sketchbook by filling the last spread with studies of Amber. (the sample size is small but, it is pretty much 80% sleeping and 20% staring at me with murder in her eyes)

these are my ducks. i love them. at least as far back as high school, they’ve come every year in the spring to hang out for a while to eat the tasty tasty algae and junk out of our pool cover. this year they’ve stayed for a particularly long time and i just love hearing their little quacks in the morning. don’t bother looking up the lifespan of ducks, they have absolutely been the same ducks every year the whole time this entire fifteen or so years.
the other day, i looked out my window and in my backyard i saw the most wonderfully spherical bird that immediately flew away as soon as i saw it. our moments together were so fleeting yet so inspiring.
over the treetops and mountains, over the blackened ravines. then softly it falls by a house near a stream, and over the garden wall, to thee.
“When I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court] and I say, 'When there are nine,' people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that.”

“um, so like, the constellations, I don't believe there's a whale out there, but I, uh, believe the stars exist and that people put the whale up there. like, I dunno, we're good at drawing lines through the space between stars. like we're pattern finders, and we'll find patterns, and we like really put our hearts and minds into it even if we don't mean to. so I believe in a universe that doesn't care and people who do.”
