🎬 Bi The Way I Am 🎬
This pride month I’m happy to share that I recently worked on a full-colour slice-of-life comic written by Mae Grenade as part of Lifeline Comics’ latest LGBT+ comic anthology, "Bi Bi Bi"; which features more than 20 stories by queer authors covering all corners of the Bi experience! 🥳🎉 The Kickstarter is live until July 3 2026 and has a bunch of bonus perks to peruse including digital editions, print editions, pins, bundles, and more!
💙💜🩷 Go show the Kickstarter some love! 🩷💜💙
two characters who understand each other like no one else does and therefore hurt each other like no one else can
i'm being so fucking normal about the imaginary people that i made up in my head
These posts are sisters
[Image IDs: Image #1: Tweet from bitchyByers reading: i fear everyone on this app needs to read this
Tumblr post from jesncin reading: my high school english teacher would often critique our literature analysis work by pointing out: "you're treating these characters like they're real people. They're not. They're characters." And it took me a long time to understand what he meant by that. Because I always thought "isn't that the point? That writers want to write characters to be so three dimensional that they act and feel like real people?" but that's not it.
Characters are tools a writer uses in service of a story. Of course characters can be written with depth to the point the feel real to us, but they exist in service of their narrative. Something real people aren't beholden to at all. When discussing characters, I think it's easy to accidentally see these characters as "real people" and not extensions of the author's beliefs. Tools for a narrative. Means of storytelling.
Quote tweet from Inkfy (@/ inkfyCreates) reading: People have developed unhealthy attachments to fictional characters. "A character can't be a narrative tool, they make you Feel things so therefore they are Real to me" is a major problem for literature nowadays. People can't engage with what's actually being showcased.
Image #2: Tweet and reply from rea (bubbles emoji) (@/ lyfjiaberg) reading: Half the reason why we cannot get genuine readings of characters anymore is because people project too heavily on them and treat them as extensions of themselves so when the character is criticized it feels like a personal attack on their own personhood
No matter how strongly you relate to a character you are not them you are not the one anyone is ever talking about. Who are you. We don't know who you are. /End IDs]
Shout out to trans women who aren’t computer scientists or musicians or avant-garde artists or whatever.
Shout-out to tgirls who work at Taco Bell. Thank u queen, society would collapse without you
Over twenty years ago my big brother got me a job at a Taco Bell in the St. Louis suburbs-West County. He warned me that it was the “gay Taco Bell”, but since I was coming from the “gay Howard Johnson’s” I wasn’t shocked. It turns out it was the black trans women Taco Bell complete with black trans women in management. And they’d worked out an arrangement with the local teen Narcotics Anonymous group so that twice a week we would shut down the drive thru and the dining room and exclusively serve 60+ teens in various stages of recovery. And many of the women I worked with were in various stages of being out or transitioning and they were from all generations from teens to over 50. One woman I worked with had a regular corporate job presenting as a man 9-5 Mon-Fri and then came to Taco Bell and worked 6pm -2am Friday and Saturday night so she could be herself surrounded by other black transwomen in those stolen weekends. And we had customers come from all over the metro area because they knew they could be themselves in the dining room. I only worked there from 1999-2001 but for young me, this was a vital, formative experience. Some of the girls came from north city all the way out to the “gay Taco Bell” on Manchester in west county because they heard it was safe to work there. Like- I know times have changed but they haven’t changed much in 20 years. I’m still convinced that for lgbt youth, finding a job at your city’s version of the “gay Taco Bell” is key to survival.
Thank u for sharing this with us
something I haven't seen people mention about The Hunger Games trilogy and movies is how it genuinely revolutionized the Minecraft server scene
I do think the post that's like "when they torture you to insanity and then torture you for being insane 😂🤣" is one of the most succinct and foundational analyses of interpersonal violence and conflict that had ever been written
Apparently someone got their car stuck on the light rail tracks at Mt. Baker. For those unfamiliar this is 35 feet up in the air
First test flight of a flying car by Mazda partially a success
I feel like the Arizona license plate should take some place in our analysis of whatever in the goddam fuck we’re looking at here
INCREDIBLE to exchange feedback with someone in a mature way. To give and receive critique when there’s mutual respect and both parties’ first desire is not pride but improvement of the project, the skill, the product, the art.
When someone is EXCITED to hear your feedback EVEN if it’s critical. When you get excited to hear critique because you know it’s going to push you to improve.
*we are both giggling and kicking our feet but instead of drawing hearts we are dashing aggressive red pen marks all over the paper*
I told a director “hey I think the way this event is planned is haphazard. I know it’s too late now but I have some ideas about how it could flow a lot better next time.”
And he said “it’s not too late, I’ll send out an email and correct it.”
Rescheduling the way an event was run when somebody pointed out that it could be done better — no pride and no hemming and hawing. It could be better so let’s do it better.
And that’s why this is somebody I’m able to TAKE criticism from. I know this is a reasonable person who can focus on a goal before personal feelings.
the other day i showed my friend this tweet:
and they were like "it's kind of sad that it's just cosmetic and your miis can't interact with it" and i went "wait but what if the miis were the checkers... OR going back to the original idea, making miis based off of chess pieces" and they were like "omg an entire chessboard island?!" and at that moment i had to be like. okay we need to stop because this is homestuck now. we're reinventing homestuck
just because a concept happened once in a large piece of media doesn’t mean that piece of media owns that concept
homestuck owns every concept ever
the polyamorous sadist would like you all to organize yourselves into a wack-a-mole type arrangement

yk its actually very chic and avant garde to start on tuesday the second
many claim theres nothing more subversive and revolutionary than starting on wednesday the third

@hellsite-hall-of-fame
so, uh. i've read soul eater for first time in my life and i feel like i'm going to explode... how do i even tag it????
project hail mary is a touching and poignant film that leaves you asking questions about humanity like, "wow what if all mainstream media was genuinely good" and "what if book adaptions actually gave a shit about the book in question" and "what if studios hired actors that could actually act, and then let them get a lil wacky with it"
