HOLLERS NO U DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!! Disney hired teenagers in the 60’s to literally be mermaids they held open auditions and the only requirements were that you had long hair and were a strong swimmer and they gave them mirrors and other props and they literally spent their days swimming and waving I heard a story once about sailors visiting the park and one of them jumped in with the mermaids THIS WAS JUST„ SO COOL I WANT TO BE A MERMAID! “you’re a virgin, so obviously you know nothing about sex”
I know a lot of people have been screaming over this scene with the sparklers because of how intimate and cute it was.
But from the moment I saw the gifs being posted this morning all I could think about was the symbolism.
I mean, just think about it:
In the opening Haru thrashes around after being pushed down by Rin. He proceeds to sink to the bottom and closes his eyes in defeat.
But then Makoto reaches down into the depths of the darkness and pulls Haru up.
This is what the opening is symbolic of. The light in his eyes has died.
But then, in the midst of all that anguish and darkness, Makoto says just the right words and it’s like a flip is switched inside of him.
This is what makes the sparkler scene all the more poignant.
It’s the fact that it is Makoto whose sparkler manages to reignite the flame extinguished by years of guilt. Makoto has put the light back in his eyes. And that’s what really matters.
Ah, yes. I think you have officially broke me.

I recently read an interview from a local celebrity and she claimed that she likes Victorian era stuff. However, upon further reading, she said that she really likes those 18th century stuff including Marie Antoinette and her fashion. And I was like… girl, Marie Antoinette is NOT Victorian. In fact, she was already dead (d.1793) before the Victorian era started (1837-1901).
For further clarifications, I’d suggest you go check out That’s Not Victorian. The blog master’s doing a good job on identifying mislabeled posts :)
AMEN TO THIS
