15 year-old Kayla Reed was last seen at her family’s home in Livermore, California on December 2nd, 2005. According to her mother Angel Sheets, Kayla was a habitual runaway— and on the evening of December 2nd, Kayla allegedly was last seen with a full face of makeup on right before she told her mother she was going sleep. Due to this, Angel suspected that Kayla was going to sneak out to meet her friends that night. The following morning, Angel called the police around 10:30am to report that Kayla was gone.

Detectives showed up at Angel’s home shortly after she called to report Kayla missing, but when they knocked on the door, Angel did not answer. She later stated that she fell asleep and did not hear the detectives knocking on the door. Angel waited two more days before contacting the police again on December 5th, 2005. This time, she successfully filed a missing persons report for Kayla. However, Angel told detectives about her suspicions about Kayla sneaking out the night she vanished; due to this, Kayla was classified as a runaway.

Detectives initially focused on Kayla’s Myspace page in the early stages of the investigation, as it was theorized that Kayla might have met up with somebody she met on the site. That theory never panned out, as investigators could not find any evidence that Kayla was corresponding with somebody she did not know on Myspace. Then, on January 10th, 2006, the investigation took an unexpected turn: Kayla’s body was found floating in the Delta Mendota Canal. An autopsy was unable to determine her cause of death, but it was reportedly clear that she had been murdered. Additionally, the autopsy revealed that Kayla had been dead for over a month by the time she was found—the same amount of time she had been missing. 

A year and a half after Kayla’s body was found, investigators announced that Kayla’s mother, Angel, was a person of interest in Kayla’s murder. Angel’s friend, Dennis Murphy, was also declared a person of interest. Throughout the investigation, detectives learned that Angel and Dennis were the last known people to have seen Kayla alive. Both Angel and Dennis also gave conflicting stories to detectives as well. Angel originally stated that she was the only other person in the house on the evening of December 2nd. Later, she admitted that Dennis had come over that night to do meth. Angel said that before she went to bed that night, she asked Dennis to keep an eye on Kayla in case she tried to sneak out. When Angel woke up the next morning, she said that both Kayla and Dennis were gone. Dennis, on the other hand, admitted to going to Angel’s house on the evening of December 2nd, but he told police that he left when Angel and Kayla began to argue. He said that he returned to Angel’s house the following morning, and at that time, Kayla was gone and Angel seemed upset.

Despite their conflicting statements, neither Angel nor Dennis have been charged with anything related to Kayla’s death. Many of Kayla’s other family members believe that Angel knows exactly what happened to Kayla and that her “lifestyle” is likely what lead to Kayla’s death. Seven Unsettling Jeffrey Dahmer Facts

Before he was a serial murderer, Dahmer was a serial rapist, going to bathhouses and giving men drinks laced with sleeping pills and then having sex with them once they fell unconscious.  Eventually, he was banned when men began to complain and a few of his victims became seriously ill.  Dahmer later explained his actions to officers as attempts to satisfy his urges to dominate other men “without hurting anyone.”

Ate Thanksgiving dinner with his family at his grandmother’s house as the corpse of his second victim Steven Toumi lay stuffed in a suitcase in the basement.  As soon as his family left the next day, Dahmer dismembered and disposed of the remains.

Told would-be last victim Tracy Edwards that he was going to cut his heart out and eat it.  Dahmer did consume the heart of one victim and described it as “kind of spongy,” and unappetizing.  Nevertheless, he found the experience erotic, getting an erection as he consumed the fried organ.

When officers entered Dahmer’s apartment to investigate what they assumed was a domestic incident after victim Konerak Sinthasomphone escaped into the streets, they noticed a strange odor.  It was the corpse of previous victim Tony Hughes decomposing in the bedroom, which one of the officers just barely glanced into before leaving.

On the night Dahmer was captured, officers found boxes of Soilex in his apartment.  Dahmer confessed that since he was being evicted, he’d been planning on dissolving all of the “mementos” he kept from his victims in the Soilex, effectively eradicating any physical trace of his crimes.  This means that if he hadn’t been arrested and managed to go on with his life without committing another murder, the rest of the world would have had no idea about the men who’d perished at his hands.

Was aroused by the sight of his victims’ viscera and would cut open their chests to ejaculate into their abdominal cavity.  In addition, he used the severed heads of his victims as masturbatory devices and sucked on their detached penises, one of which he painted white with foundation makeup.

In their last conversation before Dahmer left the army for alcoholism, acquaintance David Goss told him that the only thing he was proving with his discharge was that he was a loser.  The usually soft-spoken Dahmer immediately flew into a rage, advancing towards Goss and declaring in a raised voice, “That’s one thing I’ll tell you, Goss, is that I’m not a loser.  Someday you’ll hear from me.  You’ll see me again or you’ll read about me, but someday you will hear about me and you’ll know that I’m not a loser.”   It is unclear if Dahmer meant that he was going to actually make something of himself or if he was referring to the later murders he perhaps already envisioned himself committing.

On February 14th, 2000, nearly a year after the Columbine High School Massacre, two Columbine students Nick Kunselman and Stephanie Hart-Grizzell were shot and killed in the Subway where Nick worked; just a few blocks south of Columbine High School. The employee that found their bodies drove past the restaurant and noticed that the lights were on; thinking it was odd, the employee went to go check, only to find Nick and Stephanie’s lifeless bodies on the floor of the sandwich shop.

This crime still remains unsolved.

Isaiah Shoels:

Finally, Shoels recalls that even Isaiah possibly had a premonition of his death. ‘’My son told me and my wife, ‘Daddy, what would you do if someone gunned us down?’ Me and my wife asked him why he was talking like that. He said, ‘I’m just asking you a hypothetical question. What would you all do if someone gunned us down; would you gun them down?’ And, ‘would we go kill them?’ I said, ‘No son, you can’t fight hate with hate. But if you or any one of your other siblings get killed over foul play, whatever that foul play was, I will fight it until the day I die.’ And it just so happened to be racism and hate and I mean that, I’m going to fight it until the day I die.”

Kyle Velasquez:

“Al was home mowing the grass when a neighbor told him about the shootings. He picked up Phyllis from her job at Mervyn’s department store. When Al told his wife about the shooting, she had a terrible premonition. ‘I just knew right then I was never seeing Kyle again. It was one of those mom things.“

“‘P.S. Honestly, I want to live completely for God. It’s hard and scary, but totally worth it.”

She was sharing with John about some problems she was having with one of her friends. As their conversation wound down and they were close to saying goodbye, Michelle recalls that John said the strangest thing. He said, ‘Michelle, I know you’re going through some tough times in your relationship with your friend, but even if I am not around to help, remember you can always turn to God”.

Rachel Scott:

"Over her last three weeks she knew that time was short… she felt it in her gut. Rachel’s Diary… which is a whole other Christian Story in itself, describes in detail that she didn’t understand what was going to happen, but that something was up and she wouldn’t be around for long. She told her friends and wrote in the diary that some kind of sacrifice was going to have to be made and she said "she was ready to make it.” On the year of her death she wrote in her diary “Lord this is my last year… I’ve gotten what I can.”

“I’m dying,” she wrote weeks before she was murdered. “I consider it homicide. The world you have created for me has led to my death.”

Lauren Townsend:

“She had a keen premonition of her own early death. Amazingly, she left a four-page will and, shortly before the shooting, wrote in her diary that she had "Learned and done everything God wanted me to do here”
