Summary: when your friends set you up on a blind date <3
Warnings: kissing, alcohol
"To the left, to the left!" You yelled out in frustration as the claw snagged the ear of the plushie Jin had been aiming for before ultimately falling back into the soft, squishy pile of toys.
"If you're so good then you try it!" Jin huffed beside you. It was strange to think that the two of you had barely known each other before today. You had ran into each other a couple of times at parties but had never exchanged more than a couple words. Now you were making your way around a random arcade in Seoul together, determined to win each game.
"Fine, I'll show you how it's done!" You laughed, putting a coin into the machine before expertly directing the claw into exactly the right position. The two of you watched intently as it lowered, reaching for the pig plushie, wrapping its arms round its back and finally picking it up. You instantly whooped triumphantly, jumping up and down while Jin, open mouthed, gawked at you.
"You must have cheated, you can't have got it on your first go."
"I'm not! And I'll win you one as well, as long as you let me see it next time."
"Next time? Are you asking me out on another date?"
When your friend told you that she had found you a date this was not exactly what you had in mind. You had pictured a nice restaurant, a bar maybe. You could only imagine your surprise when she had suggested that you meet at a cat cafe. It didn't seem the most typical of places, not very romantic or making room for something more steamy. But here you were and the second you locked eyes with your date you knew exactly why she had sent the two of you here. You smiled lightly at him as you greeted each other, the cats already beginning to wind their way around his legs.
Yoongi, the name which you had been given, seemed shy to say the least. He watched as you stroked a small white cat's head, how your fingers moved over its soft ears and how they flattened under your touch. Eventually you began to open up to each other, realising you had more in common than just a love for the furry (and one not so furry) animals you were surrounded with.
It had been a long time since you had been on a real date. Sure you had a drink with a few people over the past year or so but it had never gone any further than that. Your friends had finally had enough. That's what had brought you here; in a nice outfit, your hair done and your expectations low. The cafe was quiet. Very quiet. In fact you could only see one other person sitting at a table without a drink. He was hunched over, hair styled to the heavens and his toned arms on display.
Only when he looked up did you realise who it was. Oh god. You knew exactly who it was. Your first year at university you had shared a class and you had silently pined over him, not managing to pluck up the courage to say anything. First year came and went and you had never seen him again. Until this very moment. He smiled up at you when he noticed you standing there, mouth agape and brows furrowed.
"Hey, y/n is it? I remember you. We shared a class first year!" Thank god for your friends.
The park was so pretty this time of year. This was why when Hoseok had given you his friend's number you weren't overly shocked when he had suggested you go out there. As you strolled next to each other, giggling at something he had said you took in the beauty of your surroundings. The flowers had come into bloom perfectly, their delicate petals presenting themselves to you as if to say 'look at me!'. Soon, however, you grew bored of nature and began to fixate on the man to your left. He was just as pretty as the park, if not more so. Your eyes darted between his perfectly sculpted face, to his clothes, back to meet his eyes.
Namjoon was bolder than you however, because when you broke the eye contact, nervously looking back to the grass, he only took your hand in his own.
"I was getting cold," he reasoned, the both of you knowing that he was bending the truth. "Hey look at these, you know that they breath through their skin?" He remarked, using his free hand to point to the frogs which were shading themselves under a bush. You simply shook your head in response, leaning into his arm to look at him some more.
You wobbled along the ice, clinging for dear life onto the bannister. This was perhaps not the best idea for a date you had ever had. In your head it had been romantic. In your head. You hadn't taken into account the fact that you hadn't been to an ice rink since you were fourteen, however, meaning that you were set up perfectly for failure.
"Can you not skate?" Your dates voice piped up from beside you. "Here, I'll help you, take my hands." You looked him up and down for a moment before wearily unlatching one arm from the side of the rink. His hands were surprisingly warm considering you were literally in a room which vowed to never turn the heating on. He pulled you towards him, and you waddled after him, like a penguin learning to walk for the first time.
You shrieked as you were suddenly span around, Jimin's hair flying in the gust of wind you had created. And he was laughing at you. No, he was laughing with you. With you. Perhaps you could get behind this whole skating thing. You had just needed to find the right partner.
Anxiously you tapped your foot against the floor. This wasn't the first time you had been sent on a blind date by one of your friends but you hoped it would be the last. This one looked promising. You were waiting outside the arts centre, you had gotten there far too early so no one else was there. The crunching of gravel let you know that someone else had arrived.
You had seen pictures of your date to be. Blurry, grainy and extremely zoomed in from group photos. Maybe that was why you were more optimistic about this one.
Your forth glass of wine had perhaps been one too many. Maybe that was why you were here, with paint covered hands, while Taehyung's were raking their way through your hair. The wine was probably just an excuse you decided as you pushed yourself further into his grip, your lips melding together more and more by the second. You were sure if you stayed like this for a second longer you would be permanently glued like that. Or you would just get a lot more paint on your clothes than you expected you would tonight.
Jungkook was supposedly the perfect man. This is was Lia had been telling you while you got ready in your shared apartment. You wondered how he could possibly be as handsome and funny as she had claimed and you were almost certain that she would make a better pair with him than you, seeing as she was so infatuated with him.
But when Jungkook's car drives up to your flat all your worries go out the window and it all makes sense. He definitely looks the part. When he jumps out the car with a grin on his face to open the car door for you you realise that he's acting the part too. When you greet him with a hug and a brief introduction you are suddenly overly aware of everything happening around you. His scent overwhelms you, his arms ever present at your back, his voice like music to your ears.
The embrace ends all too soon and you're sitting in the car. You're worried it will be awkward but Jungkook has put music on and the two of you are singing along playfully to the words. You're not even surprised that he has the voice of angel. Perhaps he is one. You're sure of it when an hour later his lips are on yours.
