Although, before he can even open his mouth to respond first, the stranger continues with what has to be a cheeky grin.

     “Hello, I’m Kuro and I’m completely available.”

And quickly, an embarrassing snort of a laughter follows, his hand quick to clamp itself over his mouth before he mutters;

Aryn gave him a long look through squinted eyes, really not sure what to make of it. Her voice returned much flatter. “Then maybe don’t tell them how you’d hate to be them. If it’s true, believe me… they already know.” 

❝ Hey, I’m sure people would hate to be me, too. ❞ He doesn’t quite elaborate and instead settles for turning away and resting his back against the wall beside the cell. ❝ I’d rather just have them tell me that instead of trying to play down whatever my problem is and make it seem better than it really is. ❞

“Yes, it was something you- What!? Seriously!” Her voice went a bit higher and broke from misuse, and she closed her eyes, shaking her head. This was her price for trying to have a conversation. 

“Just stop talking.” She flexed her fingers and glanced down to them with a frown. “There’s lots of other prisoners you can go have a laugh at. You’ve hit your quota here.”

Surprising nobody, Katarak is the runt of his family which results in just being generally smaller and weaker. It is the reason why he is only six foot (which he is sensitive about and does not like having it pointed it to him) and yes, the reason why his ears do not even have the strength to stand up on their own.

She didn’t actually expect him to get that close and pulled her hand back in when she realized, leaning back and stared out at him through the slot with wider eyes.

“Wow…. just, wow buddy.” Her voice changed from surprised disbelief to flat irritation in just four words and she crinkled her nose a bit as she looked out now entirely unimpressed. 

“That’s just brilliant.”

Apparently, he doesn’t seem to realize how insensitive he just came across as.
