You know, as the concept of “zombifying fungi” becomes more and more popular, I notice it still referred to everywhere as like a “brain parasite.” So I guess a lot of people overlooked or forgot how in 2019 it was discovered that cordyceps and other similar fungal parasites leave the brain and nervous system completely untouched. They only control the muscles. They use chemical signals to make the muscles flex in real time where they want to go :)
It’s funny how many people are replying “but that’s worse!” like you didn’t know that’s exactly why I put a smiley

Chibi Prehistoric Megafauna
I was working on these last month. I researched each species to get the appearance as close as possible to what recent studies reveal. I shared a quick overview of the research on my wildlife art tiktok (yes I made a tiktok account :P)

FUCK YOU MEAN MY TUMBLR WORKS NORMALLY ONLY WITH VPN RIGHT NOW?!?! IT WAS ONE OF THE ONLY TWO ‘SOCIAL MEDIA’ I ACTUALLY USE THAT WORK WITHOUT VPN
Update on the observations:
It loads images that are already in cash
It loads the first frame of a gif for some reason
artfight.. wait for me… a nap… is not too far…

“It’s easy to assume”: someone’s misconception is about to be amiably corrected
“It’s tempting to assume”: someone’s assumption is about to be criticized
“It’s comforting to assume”: someone’s assumption is going to be read for filth
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are

ARTFIGHT!!
I need to make, like. An umbrella quiver.
Like a quiver that holds arrows. But for holding an umbrella. And also it would be worn to the front/side.
It's REALLY annoying walking around with a cane and a big umbrella, and I've. Forgotten umbrellas. And the little fordable umbrellas barely do ANYTHING. But it's a bit ridiculous bringing my raincoat for a 1 minute walk through rain.
It needs to be made in a way that I can sit down with it, though when on the train I could probably just take it off like I do with my bag... hm... much to think about.
I normally just loop the strap around my wrist but umbrella quiver sounds AWESOME.
Googled something about quick hydration and it suggested big jug of water, couple tbsp pickle juice, dash of lime juice.
Its surprisingly tasty????
Pleased to report that after a day of this i am not longer craving caper brine and my mouth is not dry as usual. There's some good suggestions in the notes too that I want to try.
-ancient roman posca: water, red or white wine vinegar, honey, salt, herbs (coriander, mint, thyme)
-switchel: water, ginger, vinegar, sweetener, lemon, salt
-ayran: yogurt, water, salt, mint
-Agua pepino: water, cucumbers, lime, sugar, optional mint.
I have been reminded of:
-shrub: vinegar, sida water, elderberry (or other berry), sugar.
I have now been informed of
-sekanjabin: honey, vinegar, mint, water.
"Wow, I wonder why this post was popular this week."
-sees the reports of the heatwave in Europe-
"... ah."
tired of cannibalism as a metaphor for love or sex. can we get into cannibalism as a metaphor for colonization.
1. Europeans using Egyptian mummies as medicine
2. The Delectable Negro: Human Consumption and Homoeroticism Within US Slave Culture by Vincent Woodard
3. "Abolitionists turned the tables on Europeans by accusing them of being cannibals when they ate sugar tainted with the flesh and blood of slaves."
4. Zombies (which I would class as cannibals, since they were human and need to eat humans to live) have a root in Haitian folklore and represented enslavement.
adding that, if you can find it, cannibal culture by deborah root is about exactly this. the way the white western world is a hungry, destructive force that cannibalizes non-white cultures and creates wealth and status through the cannibal colonization of those cultures.
here's the intro
i almost think there's an essay in bell hooks' black looks about this too? yes! just checked, there's an essay called "eating the other"
dyou think you'll join artfight this year? 👀👀👀
I’m not sure, I wasn’t even thinking about preparing character refs. But I’ll probably spend some time to draw a landscape I was itching to start for a week and will do something barebones on the account later
Slow burn writers who take 50 chapters to get them to warm up to each other, may your pillow be cold. May your tea always be at the right temp. May your mornings be beautiful. May love find you in every breath you take.
reading slow burns is so good. It’s like having a 18 hour road trip back home and thinking “my bed will be so comfy and i have ice cream in the freezer”.
