“What’s with that look? Oh c’mon, Razor’s a good name.” To be named after ‘The bad guy’ was a blessing more than it is a curse, however she even asked if he had names for a girl. A sort of proof that he’s okay with a girl. “I’ve had names for girls too: Kairi or Iyo.”Yet again, the source of these names was the same as the first two names that he’d first given her.

Gently, he’d put her into the passenger’s seat before he’d enter the vehicle himself. Then with the push of a button and his foot on the gas the truck roars to life. “There we go, soo what’d ya think?? I told ya I’d be happy with either girl or a boy.”

Haruko huffed. "Well. Kairi is cute. We could consider it I suppose..."

Still. The suspect he'd prefer a boy was still strong. She had to inquire where those two girl names came from...

Once they arrived at the clinic, Haruko carefully slipped down the truck and walked inside. There were a couple of women waiting before her. She took a seat and a magazine and sat down in turn, waiting to be called.

"Ah, look," she said, turning the pages. "It lists all the trendiest names of the year. Maybe we can find something nice?"

... Something better than Razor for sure.

"Oh..apparently I'm invited t' a reunion..it's gonna be in Tokyo too. That's an hour away. Apparently the kids I coached years ago are kinda grown up now. Koichi..the rich kid in the team's hostin' a party for the team at a hotel and apparently accordin' t' the message they jus' found me after all these years and I'm invited. Hrmmm..I guess now they would be...fifteen-sixteen. Interested babe? We jus' have t' keep you away from the booze."

"Puu..." His spirit beast cheers contentedly.

"Oh? Kids?" Haruko tried to recall anything. Kids... Maybe Yusuke took care of some sport team at some point? He did so many things through his life, sometimes it was hard to keep track of them all.

"But sure, sounds fun. They'll be happy to see you, and I can still fit in one of my dresses without looking like a watermelon. We can afford a night out."

He'd gently brush her knuckles with his thumb , it was his own silent way of trying to eliminate her anxieties. "Yer gonna make me a father, believe when I say boy or girl I'll be thrilled either way. Scared as all hell but still determined t' not end up like my own old man. 'Sides, I've got pops (her father) as a role model so when I'm stuck I'll ask him for advice."

After the doggies were greeted and hailed it was time to walk her toward the food truck. "Me I'm thinkin' Lex or Razor." (Real wrestlers) it's no surprise where Yusuke's head went the moment he needed to think up names..after all the dogs were living proof. "I'll also be exclusively working as a food vendor during your last few months and the first year of our baby being born. Crap, that reminds me I'll need t' shop for Lumber so I can make the crib."

Haruko frowned at the suggestions. The idea of a baby named Razor was bad enough, and the idea of it passing between her legs was even worse, she thought with a shiver.

"You say you'd be happy with anything and yet you only come up with name for boys" she complained with a pout. "We're hot gonna name out baby Razor. I refuse. Let's hear your ideas for a girl, then."

At this current time his girlfriend (for two months) should be enjoying her little break. Yusuke has been away from home for four days because of a major haunting in Shinjuku. But the case was handled and the detective could finally come back home.

THE MINUTE SHE returns home from school and opens the door she would find Yusuke passed out on the couch, he was filthy of course, tattered shirt, blushed torso beneath the shirt and cuts over his cheek, but he was asleep soundly with little Taijiri on his chest and Puu with one of his ears coiled around Yusuke's neck like a scarf as his little body act as a pillow.

He did not make that lunch.

When she walked inside the house, there was no usual delicious smell welcoming her back home. That worried her more than it should have; Haruko glanced around with an anxious frown.

"Yusuke?" She called softly.

A quick whine caught her attention. Haruko headed to the couch to find Yusuke snoring alound on it, still messy from his mission. He hadn't even taken a shower yet, as hinted by his scent... Stronger than usual.

"Oh, Yusuke," Haruko sighed with a smile. "I'll have to wash the couch cover." With that, she took Taijiri from his chest, gave Puu a caress on the head and Yusuke a quick peck on the forehead before covering him with a blanket.

"No worries," she whispered. "I'll take care of dinner tonight."

BANG! BANG! BANG! ZZZZHHT! ZZZZHT! Hammering and sawing could be heard coming from the back of the yard. It had been Yusuke of course working on their child's crib. "Oh..Sunflower." Yusuke quickly vanishes from the ground and appears behind his beloved before his tools even have the chance to thud against the floor. "I told ya t' give me a call when you were ready t' get outta bed. Are ya hungry?? Thirsty? Got a weird cravin'??"

Haruko barely had the time to steal a glance at Yusuke's project that he had already appeared at her shoulders. She casted another quick look to it, distractedly shaking her head.

"No, I... Got woken up by all those noises," she muttered, confused. "What are you doing exactly?"

"Hey Sunflower..we've been together for...about two months. So when do I get t' meet mom n' dad? Think it's about time they meet the guy you talk about....er..you did tell them you were datin' right?"

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhh..."

The long, dragged answer left Haruko's throat while her face slowly morphed in an embarrassed grimace. Cheeks ablaze, she glanced to the side and shook her head.

"No, I haven't," she groaned. "I was too shy. My mom would ask so many questions! And-- Why do you need to meet them?? We're not engaged or anything!" She flailed anxiously. "It can wait! My family is nothing special, I promise!"

“I guess I can still do that with a daughter.” He spoke softly as he’s getting dressed within their shared room. “I’m jus’ happy that we’re this step closer t’ realizing my dream.” He could remember it like it was yesterday, they’d have one of their..quiet nights together, where he’d spill his heart and soul and express that if he had at least one dream then it wasn’t riches, fame or any form of glory. His dream was to have a family.

Yusuke came out dressed in his usual ensemble: Green jacket, white shirt and blue jeans. “Tell me about it. Yer definitely right about the weird weather. Alright, I’m ready and I think we can still make our four o’clock appointment.” His words were soft and took hold of her hand. “Let’s head t’ the truck. Excited??”

Holding onto Yusuke's hand, Haruko carefully slipped down the bed with a huff and a smile.

"More like anxious," she admitted with a quick laugh. "Whatever the baby is going to be, I hope you're not disappointed."

They made their way to the main door, and Haruko greeted their pups before putting on her jacket -- Yusuke's old brown one, the same one he had gifted her a long time ago. Being a couple of sizes larger than her, it managed to fit her new body shape quite well.

"We haven't discussed names yet," she commented as she stepped onto their vehicle. "Want to wait until we know the actual gender?"

“H’oh yeah, that is t’day isn’t it.” In that case, he opens the bottom half of his kitchen door and steps in and slowly removes his shirt. “I’ll hit a quick bath and then we’ll get t’ the doc. But I’m tellin’ ya. Mazoku have great psychic connection with their kids. I can tell this is a boy. Our own little boy, who I can introduce t’ wrestling.”

From there he makes his way into the bathroom, minutes later, and Yusuke was out, fresh as a daisy with his towel over his bare shoulders, now he takes a step towards the closet. “Alright honey, what’d ya think..shirt n’ jacket combo..or jus’ a shirt?”

Haruko answered a grumble at the comment, one hand instinctively rubbing her belly in concern. "What if it's not though," she muttered with a pout as Yusuke went to the bathroom. "I wouldn't mind a girl. You're all boys here," she whined, giving their two large puppies a sigh. "It'd be nice to have another girl around..."

She took her time resting on the bed with her feet prepped up on a couple of pillows as Yusuke got ready. Once he returned to get dressed, she peeked at the options with a pondering hum.

"I don't think you need to get all fancy," she smiled, amused by the effort. "It's a quick visit. Pick whateber's comfortable," she reassured him. "But I would bring a jacket to be sure. The weather is a bit odd these days..." She glanced outside with a concerned look. "It's been a bit of a wild spring so far."

"Thanks alot, whenever yer done with work, stop by my food cart when I'm back. I'll make ya meals on the house." He gave her a smile as puu enthusiastically hopped into her arms to nuzzle against her chest.

"Huh...hard t'say. Maybe two months?? Ya really can't tell. I heard they made special new rules tweed out the weaklings..so who knows how long I'd be away. Not t'mention just one fight between strong demons can last up t' three days..sometimes even longer. Soooyeah, it's gonna be awhile before you'd see me again but that's why you'll have Puu." In his mind who is probably the superior presence that brought the brighter smiles on her face.

"Wha-- Two months?!"

Haruko almost squeezes Puu too hard for the surprise. She stared at Yusuke, baffled. Sure, she knew tournaments could take their time, but... Months? And matches lasting for days?!

"But... Do you have to be away the whole time?" She asked, an unexpected anxiety rising in her chest. "Can't you like... Pop by between a match and the other or something? J-Just to check on the house!" She was quick to specify. "I mean, taking care of it for two months it's... Quite the responsibility..."

Awww… “Ya should jus’ stay in bed. I’d glady bring things for ya.” He spoke softly as he had gotten up from playing with the dogs, leaning downward and capturing her lips in a soft kiss. “I missed ya too..” Then he’d pull away from her lips and embrace her gently. “C’mon I’ll start on dinner..hopefully we’ll get a little peace for the rest of the day.” Granted it isn’t the first time their little time of peace was interrupted because a surprise case.

"Can't stay in bed," Haruko muttered against Yusuke's lips. "Got things to do when the husband is away for a long job. And I have to pee. A lot." She frowned at her belly. "This baby keeps sending me to the toilet."

"Which reminds me," she was quick to add, excitedly tapping a hand on Yusuke's chest, "we have the visit to the doctor today. We will finally know if it's gonna be a boy of a girl!"

"Who's my good boys huh?? Who's daddy's good boys??" He asked the two large dogs as they barked, yelped..so happy to see Yusuke was home for the afternoon. Gosh, they've grown so much over the few years..and to think had it not been for Haruko's persuasion, he would have given them both away to shelters as pups. "What about you babe? Ya happy t' see me too??"

"I am," Haruko laughed as she observed the scene, "though I'm not really going to show it by drooling all over you as they do. Plus, bending over is a bit difficult lately," she admitted, gently caressing her belly which had grown a bit bigger in the last five months, "so I'm just going to kiss you a 'welcome back home' as soon as you stand up."

The day…was something that seemed natural. It started with her waking up to him giving her breakfast, although he did emphasize the egg by giving her a heart-shaped omelet, and made her little kitten onigiri. Even the fruit salad he had made her held fruits cut up to look like stars. Yusuke wanted to hammer home the effort he had put into her meal for the day.

Then, after that day, he took her over to the countryside; from Yokohama a plane ride would have taken them over an hour; however, on Puu’s back, they’ve made it there in a manner of minutes (10). They spent a glorious afternoon taking in the sights of Onomichi’s harbor area before attending a little family-owned restaurant..then after lunch, he flew them back to Tokyo where they enjoyed a nice lunch until the sun began to set, and of course he stopped right in front of her (old?) job.

“Hoof, today was a great adventure, speakin’ of which..that adventure all started here. We might not have known it then, but we were gonna be important people in each other’s lives. I’m not particularly good at this part, but what I’m gettin’ at is that through this adventure you’re literally the only person who’s made me happy..helped me grow past my own bullshit..and it’s because of you, I actually look forward t’ the future.” 

Then he pauses as he has gotten down on one knee, and Puu chirps happily, nesting atop her head. “Tsukushima Haruko…would ya marry me?? I promise that I’d make ya happy..jus’ as ya make me.” Then he pulls out a little black box, and within it, a silver ring with a small yet brilliant amber stone embedded into it.

It had been a great day, maybe even greater than usual despite being very ordinary in its greatness. It was about the small details Yusuke had taken care of. The cute onigiri, the star-shaped salad, the cute dinner by the countryside... It had been a while since they had taken a full day to themselves like that, inbetween Yusuke's many missions. Haruko never complained about his job, she was proud of him, but she had to admit it was nice being spoiled like that now and then.

The day was almost over when they landed by the Coffee Bean. Haruko stared at it with a fond look, giving a light giggle at Yusuke's comment. Yeah, it seemed like yesterday and yet a lifetime ago, when she had just casually accepted to help this casual boy who had nonchalantly asked her for help with something she wasn't expecting to be a bigger deal than she could ever imagine. Back then, Yusuke's tasks seemed incredible. Now, talking about and seeing ghosts was almost ordinary.

"I know right?" She laughed. "Who would have guessed we'd end up here... On a legendary bird," she added, giving Puu a wink.

But then Yusuke kept talking, and all Haruko could do was staring at him with a confused look. Good at which part? Grow past his bullshit-- which ones? Looking forward to the future...?

Oh no, is he leaving for another dangerous mission again?! She wondered anxiously. For how long now??

But then Yusuke knelt, and everything fell into place in Haruko's mind, so quickly she gasped at her own stupidity. Her cheeks blazed and her eyes became bleary as Yusuke pulled out the ring, the stone of it exactly the colour of a sunflower. Before Yusuke was done asking the question, she was already nodding eagerly, chocking on her tears, and the moment he was done, she had thrown herself towards him in a squeal, arms thrown around his neck as she hugged him and kissed him inbetween sobs.

"What are you talking about?" She laughed amidst tears. "I think you did this perfectly. Of course I will!"

"You're really not making me do anything," he agreed with a light laugh, already thoroughly enjoying what he'd tried so far. "I'll try any of it." He blew on the takoyaki a bit more and managed another bite, but the one after it was a mistake.

With a small "mm!" of surprise, he covered his mouth and tried to blow off some of the steam. She'd had a point about burning his tongue on these, but they were delicious enough that it was hard not to eat them too fast. He was more careful about eating the rest.

As she led him around the festival, his eyes followed her finger toward everything she pointed to, pausing curiously to watch how anyone could catch a fish in a paper net. But a boy who looked to be about seven or eight managed to do it, much to Alfons's wonder. "The paper doesn't rip in the water?" he mused aloud, but it couldn't have been impossible if both the boy and Haruko had done it.

He was still lingering looking in wonder at the fish game when he noticed Haruko hurrying off to another stall, and he quickly turned to follow her. Cold cucumbers? Another thing he hadn't expected, but he may as well give it a try. With a word of thanks, he accepted the one she offered him and bit into the cold, crisp cucumber with a loud crunch.

"That's...actually refreshing," he admitted despite never having really thought of having a plain cucumber as a snack. "Though you were right about the takoyaki. Maybe something cooler is a good idea after that."

He paused for a moment for a few bites. After a moment, he turned the conversation back to a point she's touched on earlier. "And after all of this is hana- What did you call it again? That's part of the tradition?" He was already looking forward to the fireworks. He'd tried to make one himself once, but he'd been caught pretty quickly, and the project was put to an end before he could accidentally blow something up. Still, it would be fun to watch other people set them off. Maybe he'd try again someday under more controlled conditions.

"Hana-bi!" Haruko scanned. "Hana means flower," she explained, spreading her fingers to mimick an opening blossom, "and bi is fire," she concluded, pointing at one of the torches decorating the edges of the closest stand. "It's the big finale! Everyone goes by the river to watch it," she explained, pointing at the end of the road, "but we still have time."

She eyed a vibrant blue banner ahead of them and once again, grabbed Alfons by the wrist and dragged him along. "You said you wanted something cool?" She said. "I have an idea!"

The stand was selling cups of shaved ice with different options of syrups as a topping. Haruko stopped in front of it and pointed at a kid who was just receiving a cup at the top of the line.

"It's called kakigori," she explained. "It's ice! It's very refreshing," she smiled, "exactly what you need if you burn your tongue!"

"Out of obligation-" Yusuke spoke as he held up a box of condoms and left it on her drawer. "If my mother ever ask us if we're still bangin'let the record show that I came prepared with protection if it ever happens again. Now, did I squeal or anything? No, she just says 'a mother knows when her son is active'."

"What--"

She was so shocked by the request she did nothing but stare at the box placed on her drawer. Did it help that they were just done with a messy round of improvised very physical activity? No. Did it help that she was still naked, clutching her blanket against her chest as Yusuke spoke. Nope, not even that.

"I... Okay," she answered with a meek pipsqueak, eyes still giving the box a baffled look. The reason why Yusuke's mom would ever ask her such an intimate thing, or how she'd do it while at her apartment so Haruko would show her the evidence of their responsible approach is still completely unknown to her. She probably doesn't want to think about it either.

"You're the best. It's nice t'have someone that I can tru-" hold on...wait a minute. "No I don't mean come with me, I meant look after my apartment while I'm gone. I covered rent but I might be getting clients so I'd just need ya to give them my number. And water that annoying plant my mother gave me."

He spoke, rubbing the back of his head. "The place is too dangerous for me t'have you tag along." Some other yokai might try to eat her. She's far too import- Eh, it's best that he doesn't get too deep in his own head right now.

Look after his apartment...?

Haruko's answer came with an unenthusiastic pout. She sighed and gave a reluctant nod, handing over her hand to him.

"Okay fine... I'll do it," she grumbled. "I need the key. Is Puu staying too? You know I can't be without him for too long," she added with a smile, reaching with her finger above Yusuke's head to scratch the little bird's fluffy belly. "How long will you be gone for this time? A week?"

“Demon world.” He moved himself from atop her bed now that she came back. Oh she noticed the gi he’s wearing..not his usual ensemble whenever he’s in her home. “There’s gonna be a big tournament, somethin’ that happens every four years.” That’s when his hands were at his side.

“This keikogi represents the country I’m representin’ in demon world. Someone I respected wore these colors and it’s jus’ my way of honorin’ him. Soo, can I count on ya princess?”

Haruko blinked, confused. A tournament? Every four years? She gave a baffled smile; looked like the Demon World had its own forms of entertainment somehow...

"And you're already changed into this?" She asked, casting the gi a curious look. "Well, you must be pretty eager to go..."

Then, Yusuke's question stole her attention once more. Count on her...? For what-- Oh!

"Yeah! Yeah sure!" She nodded eagerly. "I must admit I'm a bit surprised you asked but... I'm flattered! Yes," she grinned, patting her hands with a quick bow of her head. "I'd be happy to come and root for you!"

The campus hasn't changed nearly as much as Natsuya expected. Students still hurried between lectures with coffee gripped in one hand and panic in the other, the vending machine outside Block B still rattled ominously whenever someone slotted coins into it, and, really, only a year had passed since he first departed for Australia.

A familiar figure catches his eye across the courtyard then, and before he can think twice, he's already breaking into a jog towards it. "Haruko?" He calls out, grins splitting across his lips as he hikes a hand up high enough to be seen over the crowd. By the time Natsuya reaches her, he already has one arm outstretched, ready to administer a big old buddy old pal pat against her shoulder.

 "Surprise….!"

No he hadn't mentioned in their last dms that he was due back in Japan today.

She was just crossing the campus on her way to the next lecture, her books and notes under one arm, her coffee mug in the other hand, and her teeth closed on an egg sandwich she had managed to buy at the closest konbini last minute, when someone called her.

A familiar voice...? But no, she probably had dreamt of it -- it had happened so many times over the course of the last year she had gotten used to ignoring it...

But then a hand landed energetically on her shoulder, the touch so sudden and familiar she yelped of surprise, dropping her sandwich to the ground and dropping her mug with a start. Before she could groan a curse, she turned around, annoyed, ready to reproach whoever had given her such a scare...

But her jaw dropped for the second time in a span of a few seconds when she met a pair of vermillion eyes, their warm hue so well-known she couldn't help but gasp aloud.

"Y-You...?" She stammered, a shiver running from the hand over her shoulder along her arms, as if a ghost had just touched her. But it wasn't a ghost at all. And so her heart started racing, her empty fingers tightened in a fist. "You...!"

Any coherent thought left her brain as her fist began to repetitively pound Natusya's chest.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU EVER ANSWER ME?!" She exclaimed, cheeks burning. "I ASKED YOU WHEN YOU'D BE BACK AT LEAST A HUNDRED TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH! YOU IDIOT!"
