Honestly, it doesn't surprise me but it does piss me off how comfortable straight people are about using queer stories (or illusions of them) to make people watch their shows.
The fact that will byers is canonically a gay character and they made him come out in the worst possible way is so disgusting and low-key homophobic. Like he had to come out in order to face his abuser, and in front of strangers? And he couldn't even say the word gay? Or that he likes boys?
"I don't like girls" is so bullshit honestly
It would have been more impactful if he only came out to his mom, and Jonathan, hell even Mike. But more than that is just stupid and rushed
And they really made it and said "you'll be ha-satisfied" so fucking dumb. I'm so tired of this game of them making us believe we are finally having proper representation and an actual happy queer couple, instead we only get a "lesson" and a ass coming out scene.
I really hate straight white men and I hate queerbaiting.
They are cowards for making it this way and making us believe we were going to have it. And before anyone comes and say is delusional and that we made it up in our heads. NO. Is called queerbaiting for a reason
They give hints and they imply that it's going to happen so that we watch it, and they give enough scenes so that we have hope. But they are never going to give it to us, because they don't care.
And that's literally it, they don't care. And it's really sad, because it is clear they started this show to give the outcasts a safe space and to have them represented.
But at the end of the day, for them, an outcast is a nerd, not a queer person. For them gays, lesbians, trans, all of us are quite literally something that must be unsaid, hidden. They couldn't even have their only queer characters say "lesbian" or "gay". It's so fkcing stupid and I'm so angry
