This is so important. As a good person, you may choose to stick around to prove to someone that you’re not a bad person. You have nothing to prove to a bad person. You cannot help everyone. You cannot fix everyone. It’s not your fault.

i feel like i need to explain this. You shouldn’t apologize to other people by insulting yourself. “I’m so sorry, i’m so stupid i suck” is not an apology. It’s a guilt trip. You make the person stop focusing on why they’re hurt and focus on helping you instead. An apology combined with self deprecation is not an apology and never will be thank you for coming to my ted talk

i think one of the biggest problems i have with getting stuff done is i assume it’s easy for other people. like “she gets up at six every morning because she’s a morning person” or “yeah, he can run five miles every day but he likes running” or “she knows five languages, her brains just wired differently than mine” when in reality it’s all about discipline for everyone. like yeah, some people have natural aptitudes for some things but anyone that’s accomplishing anything is putting in the work. achievements don’t come easy, and i think if i start acknowledging that it’s like that for everyone i can stop making excuses

When you see someone doing something that looks easy, know that you are witnessing the end result of untold hours of labor to achieve that end result. 

You will need to put in similar amounts of work to achieve a similar end result of making something look easy. 

Don’t expect yourself to achieve it immediately or soon after your first attempt. It will only happen eventually, and when it does Nike, the Goddess of Victory, is celebrating with you.
