just found out about premarital sex. i think im gonna be sick
As much as I do love the āSpaceX is just burning money for no reason, Elon Musk is personally designing these rockets badly, the whole company is a joke, Elonās going to blow up on his way to Marsā banter, I think itās important to reckon with the actual reality of SpaceX as a military contractor.
Their āStarshipā is not, and never was designed to fly to Mars - thatās a marketing scheme, and it makes no sense if you actually look at the vehicle. SpaceX is able to throw money at this project because theyāve got a military contract to produce it as a military cargo drone. Their āStarshipā is designed to deliver a C-130ā²s load of US military cargo to anywhere in the world within an hour.
SpaceX, from before its first ever launch, has been partnered with the US military - as noted in the incident where the company stranded its workers without food on an island owned by the US Army. SpaceXās constant failures with their rocket come from a simple calculation - cost versus time. To slowly and methodically design a rocket such that, by your first test flight, youāre confident in it, is just that: slow. Blowing up rocket after rocket and iterating is fast, but expensive - but when you have military contractor money, itās worth it.
This is far from SpaceXās only time contracting for the military, having launched military payloads with their Falcon rockets, and even designed satellites for the military. Thereās a reason only USAmerican citizens are allowed to work at SpaceX.
The image of SpaceX as an eccentric billionaireās quest to colonise Mars serves as a marketing ploy which distracts from the companyās real existence as part of the US military industrial complex, beholden not to the Reddit-fueled whims of an egocentric moron, but to the massive economic and structural forces of modern capitalism.

It's so sexy when Tumblr deletes my gofundme link and I only now just realize that it was gone :)))))
Back to square one I guess, anyway thank you for all help I received last year and in January. I now have a plan to get out as soon as possible, and for it I will need to stay at a bnb type place for two months while I find a permanent place of residency , which will use up every pen I have but , I don't really have a choice in the matter.
I'm trying to stay positive though despite everything going on in my life right now , and I hope you are all doing the same šāØ
I know we're all struggling but if you have anything that you can spare , it would be immensely appreciated ā„ļø

Salt of the Earth (1954), dir. Herbert J. Biberman
Damn, son.
EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH SALT OF THE EARTH
Salt of the Earth actually has a crazy interesting history- OP already said it was made in 1954, but that was in the middle of the Red Scare (communism scary cold war hysteria)
Congressās anti-communism target fell hard on Hollywood, and those in the industry who were suspected of communism at all were blacklisted from all jobs, because studioās didnāt want to face backlash from Congress
Salt of the Earth was made nearly 100% with blacklisted crew members from Hollywood, and had such difficulty finding actors that they hired local citizens and miners from the actual strike the plot is based on. There were only 5 trained actors involved, and one of them (Rosaura Revueltas, the woman in the gif) was deported to Mexico before they finished filming on accusations of communism, with no proof and no substance. The filming was plagued with police harassment and threats (according to my professor they were shot at more than once), and the local union hall was burned down.
The movie itself not only covers a real 1950ā²s labor strike demanding safer and more equal labor conditions for Mexican-American employees, but after the miners were facing arrest, their wives and children took up the strike in their place. The movieās combination of blacklisted crew, civil rights and feminist message, and pro-union plot (during the red scare) got the movie blacklisted and only 12 theaters in the entire United States would show the movie- it was successful in Europe, but didnāt actually achieve viewership in the US until the 60ā²s
