It’s been awhile since I’ve put any real content on this here blog. I’ve been busy as of late with work and getting distracted by other things that I forget to update Tunafish. So, other than this being an avenue in which I vomit my thoughts (pardon my diction) I will use this to update what’s been happening in my life lately. Also because I can’t wait for Sunday for ‘Sunday Currently’ and I haven’t quite exactly thought out how to do the ‘Life Lately’ portion, haha. So, let’s do this!
Warning: this post might be hefty.
For the past two weeks I’ve been working on the first real ‘officially adult’ thing in my life: a job. Or at least the pre-employment phase. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been working for three years now despite just having graduated last year. There was even a time when I had three jobs with some freelance work on the side. But the thing with all my past jobs is that they were all very relaxed and on the unorthodox side of the work spectrum. Most were freelance and even when I was working as a graphic designer in a small design studio or for a start-up company, even their set-up mimicked that of the freelance lifestyle: no set hours, work from home, report to work 1-3 days a week, etc. I’ve never really had that “real” 8-hour job where you have to wake up early, do documents and all that government shit, have company events like Christmas parties and summer outings and all that corporate jazz. So, last week I applied for the Graphic Designer opening at Team Manila Studio through PortfolioMNL.com. I got an email to come in for the interview last Thursday. Prior to that I worked on updating my resume and my portfolio. The interview process spanned 2 hours, waiting included. I was interviewed by the HR and one of the co-owners and I actually thought it went well! I was asked to send them a more comprehensive portfolio and have it done over the weekend. And that’s pretty much what I did over the weekend. Come Monday, they gave me a Pre-employment requirements checklist for me to do before April 1. It’s a really long list. Seriously long. Since then that’s what I’ve been working on. Trying to tick them boxes off that list. I'm definitely starting to feel the changes already. I'm not even in the company yet! #grownupbutnotsogrownupproblems.
UPDATE: I GOT THE JOB! WOOO! At April 6 I shall officially be a Graphic Designer of Team Manila Studio! *pat’s myself at the back*
I’ve been sleeping terribly late these past few weeks. But then again when have I not? I’ve been sleeping between 3 and 5am and waking up at 12pm. Not good. Especially since I’m about to enter the world of the 9am work time. Not good. But luckily for me earlier this week I’ve been working on submitting all these documents to government offices which require me to wake up insanely early so as not to get caught in insane lines. And waking up early (hello, 5am!) means I sleep earlier. So, it’s not much but I have leveled up to the 1-2am sleep time. *high fives myself*
Pinterest is evil. PURE EVIL.
So, the photo above is a new creative project I’ve started and I’m pretty damn excited about it! It’s a travel binder inspired by Kelly Purkey and I’ll be making one post just for that :3 it’s a great way to spurt out some small bubbles of creativity while getting that rush of nostalgia! I can’t wait to finish it and show it to you guys :>
It’s April 2 and Holy Week is on it’s way here in the Philippines. It’s extremely hot. Melting. Scorching. Hello Summer~
As Pinterest is pure evil, so is Instagram. I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at picture upon picture upon picture. I’ve been getting a lot of creative inspiration out of it lately and it’s spurning this desire in me to paint. I’m hoping I’ll get some painting action in before Holy Week ends and before I start working. Let’s do ths!
I plan to start exercising again this April. I really want to be stronger! Let’s just hope I stick to it long enough for it to be routine this time around.
As I usually am, I’ve been dreaming of travel but I still remain rooted to where stand. As much as I feel extremely sad that it’s four months into the new year and I haven’t travelled nor done art, I’m still positive that I’ll do both this year. I just need to jump.
Just baked a batch of chocolate ship cookies this fine afternoon :3
I had my underarms waxed yesterday. This may be TMI but just in case it isn’t, I’m laying it out there~ *lays*
I’ve been thinking a lot of the future and the person I want to be. Getting this new job will change things but I actually think it’ll push me in the right direction. I think it’ll fix things that I’ve been trying to remedy for ages, like sleeping early, waking up early, gaining weight, and the like. And even if I have less free time I actually think it’ll teach me to make the most of the free time I get. Maybe it’ll push me to travel in the weekend or make art after work? I dunno. But I will do everything in my power to make that happen.
We’re going to Bolinao tomorrow with my family but i’m not sure it’s pushing through just yet because there’s an incoming storm. Crossing my fingers it goes another direction or dissipates!
I’m kinda obsessing over diy videos and articles. I want to do em all!
I want a great butt. I said it. I want it. Butt.
I wanna learn how to surf! Another thing to add to my list of to-do’s for this year.
Bikinis, bikinis, bikinis.
I got an undercut last week and I love it! It’s the first time getting any part of my head shaved and I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting something a little more bare the next time I sit in the salon ;)
I’ve been planning to take a solo trip on my birthday. Maybe for four days? I’m thinking either Palawan or Surigao del Sur. Because of my new job It’s not entirely sure as of yet. But I really want it to happen. Until then though I want to sprinkle my weekends with trips to places near the metro! Maybe join a group tour like Travel Factor or FlipTrip. I may not have travelled a lot yet, but it’s not to late to start!
Going to start reading Quiet again. I stopped and never got back to it. I think Holy Week is the perfect time to get back into it.
OH MY LORD. DID YOU WATCH WALKING DEAD?? I DID. I TOTALLY DID *_*
The fact that I got a job earlier than I expected this year, it looks as if my plan to move out next year will be well on its way! I’m quite excited by the prospect of having my own place and gaining a renewed sense of freedom. I can’t wait!
So I had my 3rd driving class last Saturday and I sucked. I stalled 5 times! Terrible.
Star World channel has been showing two episodes of Sex and the City every night and I’ve actually been religiously watching it. Well, not religiously but enough to say that I watch it a couple of times a week. I quite like it actually! Not for the sex but more for the commentary! I think the script writers do a fantastic job in creating new trains of thought and just making people think and question certain things, like the question on whether or not gender was becoming obsolete with the emergence of the bisexual. I just think it’s all quite interesting! Nothing like good writing to keep the conversation alive, ei?
I’ve been playing The Sims and Sim City on my iPhone. OBSESSED.
I’m planning on getting back to doing my waxing myself again. As much as I love not doing it myself, the price tag piles up. Back to trusty ol-diy then! I’ll put my recipe for the wax on here for your viewing pleasure~ and yes, I diy that too.
That’s all for now folks! ‘Til next time!
