no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.

see i started watching supernatural about 10 years before i had my own car and while i loved the impala i always felt like dean went a bit overboard in calling her “baby” and using she/her for her and talking to her and now i have my own car and her name is ophelia and when i go to get my oil changed i have to make a conscious effort not to use she/her for the entirety of the conversations with the mechanic because i sound so strange talking about my car as if she’s a person like yeah okay i get it now you win this round dean winchester

Including (sigh) the em dash.
There are other victims here (RIP tapestry and delve 🫠), but the appropriation of the em dash—a punctuation mark beloved by writers everywhere—feels especially personal.
A kind of low-grade panic is ensuing. Writers who once memed their own em dash overuse—the greatest punctuation mark ever to grace the control-freak’s lexicon, frankly—are suddenly backing away to avoid accusations.
No. More. We have centuries of dash-abusing writers behind us. We will not sit quietly while AI repurposes our beloved stilted aside—or the just-one-more clarification the sentence demands—or the dramatic pause your comma could never—etc.
You don’t write like AI—AI writes like you.

But then I remembered: it was my birthday.
A smile formed on my face before my eyes were even fully open. I love birthdays — not for gifts or big celebrations, but for being remembered. For that effortless “happy birthday” in the hallway, a silly message on my phone, a tiny gesture that said: “you matter.”
I got up excitedly, turned on my favorite playlist, and made the best breakfast I’d had in weeks: pancakes with fruit, strong coffee, and fresh juice. I even put a little artificial flower on the table just to make the day feel extra special.

— I really thought… I really did… — my voice cracked. My chin trembled. — Sorry. I’m being silly. Just ignore me.
I started to step away, but he gently caught my arm.
— Hey. Don’t do that. You don’t have to bottle this up. Nothing you feel is silly. Talk to me. Did you not like the party?
— No… I loved it. I really did. I just… I thought you all forgot.
— I thought you forgot.
— It was awful, Tim. The whole day… waiting for someone to say it. I felt invisible. Like I didn’t matter.
He frowned, visibly hurt. Took my hand and led me to a quieter corner of the room.
— I’m sorry. That was never the plan. I wanted to surprise you, not hurt you. — he said, pain in his expression like my words had actually struck him.
— I know… but it did hurt. A lot.
— I’m sorry if I’m overreacting—
— You don’t need to be sorry. — he interrupted gently. — I know you. You feel things deeply. And that’s never a flaw.
He rested his forehead against mine, slowly.
— You’ve never been invisible to me. Not for one second.
— If I knew this would hurt you… I would’ve done it all differently.
— I just wanted you to feel special. Loved. The way you deserve to be.
— I know… — I whispered. — But even a simple “happy birthday” during the day would’ve been enough.
— I just felt so... small.
He pulled me into a strong hug, not caring who saw.
— Let me make it up to you. Even if it takes all night. — he whispered.
— You can start… by giving me the biggest piece of cake. — I mumbled into his chest.
He chuckled, clearly relieved, and kissed the top of my head.

There’s someone who has been harassing me and my friends for weeks now using over 50 different accounts. Despite trying to ignore it, this person continues to send abusive, sexually explicit messages and memes directed at me, my friends, including my sister and parents. It has become mentally exhausting and emotionally harmful.
I’d like to admit that I mistakenly copied a post from his account. To be honest, that post wasn’t originally his either, it was by Kafka, or possibly another famous writer (I’m not sure of the exact author). When he noticed, he started sending abusive asks, targeting not just me but my mother as well, accusing me of stealing his post. As soon as I realized my mistake, I deleted the post immediately. Despite that, he has continued to abuse me every day since. Now, enough is enough, I won’t tolerate it anymore. I’ve already reported his account, so let’s see what happens next.
He also keeps making false reports against my blog in an attempt to get it taken down. His behavior is cruel, obsessive, and disturbing. I’m reaching out because I can’t deal with this alone anymore.
His real name is YASIR, he lives in India and he is using several fake accounts to harass and target me daily. Not just me but my friends too. I’ll list the known accounts below. Please help me by reporting them so that Tumblr can take action and remove him from the platform. No one should be allowed to use this site to abuse or harm others.

My heart goes out to her and everyone being targeted. No one should have to deal with this kind of abuse. Please take a moment to report these accounts. Even one report can make a difference. We stand with you. 💖 You’re not alone.
You're not alone, sister. This person has been sending me abusive asks daily too, using different accounts every time. And it's not just me, he’s been targeting some of my mutuals as well. Did you say 50 accounts? Nah. I’ve personally blocked more than 50 of his fake accounts already. I’ll be attaching screenshots at the end. From all those accounts, he’s sent me sexually harassing asks every single day.
I honestly don’t know if my mutuals have noticed, but I had to turn off both replies and anon asks completely, not because I wanted to, but because I was tired of opening my inbox to disgusting, hateful, and abusive messages. Tomorrow, he’ll probably send me another nasty ask, and I’ll keep posting his abusive messages under this post every day, so my followers can report all of his accounts. 🙏
It’s absolutely disgusting. I feel deeply for all the women affected. Please report every one of his accounts, this has to end. We cannot, and will not, normalize sexual abuse or harassment on this platform.
