i just think a whole season arc should have been dean and cas reckoning with the fact they never hug aside from life n death situations. also cas learning about human emotions and trauma from baby books

one really important (to me) early deancas interaction is when sam is like "wait would making me die or preventing my birth stop lucifer?" and dean and cas share a Look and cas is like. "no she's. uh. glenn close." castiel knows that if they were able to properly and permanently destroy lucifer's body, michael could probably take any vessel and kill him while lucifer is inhabiting nick's body. and YET!!! he wont even acknowledge it as an option. like he cares about sam obv but dean says "not an option" and he listens!

this is not /that/ long after he just almost assassinated a child too.

Literally the thing that makes me absolutely bugfuck insane about Destiel is these silent conversations they have, starting from so goddamn early on.

Like, as early as 04.07, when they've had all of three conversations, they're standing there staring deeply into each others' eyes while Sam and Uriel bitch at each other, sizing each other up and figuring each other out and working out what's gonna happen next.

And as you said, by season five Cas and Dean will have these tiny eye contact exchanges where they can communicate silently stuff like "yeah Anna's probably right, preventing Sam from being born would probably save the world" "yeah okay but also that's fucking insane and I'm not erasing my brother from existence tho" "fair enough, I will lie to Sam about the viability of Anna's plan because I do not want you to suffer"

And it all advances to the point that by season 12, Dean and Mary can be arguing about whether or not she should storm the proverbial castle with Dean to rescue Sam, and Dean will just look at Cas for help and Cas immediately just steps in to ask Mary to stay back with him to strengthen Dean's argument like???

Anyway it's the most married behavior ever and it starts SO soon into their friendship.

anyway. case where once they start investigating it they realized all the victims are parents that lost children and sam doesn’t even realize dean would be a target bc of emma until it’s almost too late

As much as I despise what I know about the finale, it is ridiculously funny to picture Dean and Cas having a loud, furious reunion in heaven where Dean chews him out for using a love confession to kill himself and Cas chews Dean out for not being able to live in peace for five goddamned minutes despite his sacrifice. And their argument is so ridiculous and full of shoving and weird doomed attempts at hugging or kissing it out, that Jack banishes them from heaven for everyone else's peace of mind.
