See that shady guy over there? Yeah, that one â his nameâs Luis Ramos. They say he looks like Lin-Manuel Miranda and works for DreamWorks Animation, but he denies all of it. Rumor has it that heâs 35 years old and currently taken.
â optimistic, creative, friendly
â private, brash, headstrong
For many artists, working at one of the top animation studios in the industry might seem like dream come true. Not only could they make a living out of something they loved, but they would also be given the chance to work on some of the next big creations within the animation world. However, for those fortunate enough to work their way up the ranks, there came a catch. And a rather peculiar one, at that. Within each major studio, a select few were privy to information about the magical history of Meridian, California â a seemingly normal beach town that was secretly home to countless reincarnations of beloved, animated characters. There were talks of the characters one day figuring out who they were in their past lives or unlocking the magic theyâd previously possessed in their respective movies and films. So those who knew of Meridian were often the ones instructed to keep an eye on the town any way they possibly could, that way these sorts of things wouldnât happen. For some, that meant keeping a distance and checking up on the inhabitants once in a blue moon. For others, that meant packing up and moving to Meridian themselves, that way they could always be one step ahead of the characters and stop any problems before they arose.Â
Among DreamWorks employees, it was common knowledge that Walt Disney Animation Studios was to blame for the entire Meridian mishap. The higher-ups didnât see the point in trying to keep this under wraps and wanted nothing more than to see Disney exposed to the general public for what theyâd done. Thatâs where Luis came in; he was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed employee whoâd never lost his passion and drive for what he did, even after working for DreamWorks for nearly a decade. He pointed out that if their creations were popping up around Meridian, it was their job to ensure these characters remained anonymous, that way DreamWorks would avoid being dragged through the mud alongside Disney. Thus, he agreed to take up the responsibility of compiling his own little group of âagents,â who would live inconspicuously among the residents of Meridian and report back to the studio if any suspicious activity occurred.Â
With his special group of agents, Luis now works from his home in Meridian, but keeps such information secret. As far as anyone in town knows, his one and only job is as an art teacher at the local high school. In his spare time, he checks up on the other DreamWorks agents and makes sure everyone is keeping their cover. And above all else, he always makes sure to keep an eye on each and every DreamWorks character, discreetly helping them out whenever he possibly can. Even if his higher-ups donât consider them to be real people, Luis does â theyâre just as real as he and the other agents, which is why he treats them as such. Unlike some of the other agents scattered throughout the city, Luis prefers to be cordial and friendly with those from opposing studios, even those from Disney. The way he sees it, theyâre all better off getting along and working together than trying to accomplish their common goal while divided.Â
