Zuko - c.=. Turtle Blog
Hello new followers ! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I hopefully will be able to more often now.
I'm Zuko :) almost 2 Mississippi Map turtle. On this blog, you'll see a lot of pictures of me, but other turtles as well, and you might just learn something !
~ I also tend to follow summer/tropical blogs or related.
Update on Zuko:
I started to notice Zuko rubbing and blinking his left eye a lot. After 2 days I brought him to the vet and because I caught it quick, we actually couldn't tell if he just scratched it, but there was definitely swelling under the eye. The vet set it could possibly be a vitamin a deficiency. He got a shot of vitamin a and within hours he was looking better, I was so excited.
After about 3 days though, he started blinking weird again, the 4th day his one eye was closed, by the 5th day he was swimming around with both eyes closed, I was so sad. We couldn't give him another shot because too much vitamin a could kill him. I brought him back to the vet on the 7th day and the vet did say he looked a lot worse than when he first came in. I was soo upset. Instead of giving him a shot in case he did over dose, she put it on his mouth and slowly pushed some in. We hoped that at least a bit got in his mouth but he was being very fussy.
After 3 days of trying to force feed him carrots for more natural vitamin a, he finally opened his right eye ! I finally saw him go up to bask, something he hadn't done in awhile (or at least I hadn't seen). The next day both eyes were open, he was eating and basking normally, and everything seemed fine. I was finally able to get him to the vet and even she said that he looks sooo much better, that he looks wayy healthier than the first time he came in. He didn't even need another shot.
He's still doing great, I've been giving him a lot of calcium bone (all that weird white stuff at the bottom of his tank). He's eating normal, basking all the time. I've been getting so many cute pictures of him, I can't wait to share.
I'm so thankful he's healthy and I get to see his cute face everyday :)
