I like Gina Gnosia so much because she has a backbone of titanium and integrity instead of blood. When she's Gnosia there is a chance she'll reveal herself so that she can be put into cold sleep – not because she dislikes eliminating people, but because she hates lying. If she is caught as a Gnosia after being declared 'definite enemy', she apologizes for lying. Gina wants to be kind to others, and as Gnosia, does not see sending people to Gnos as contradictory. But lying? Lying is always unkind, and she acts accordingly.

Then there is of course the Big Scene. Gina, as Gnosia, learns the crew is heading to the Allocosia System. As a space traffic controller, she knows ships regularly disappear in that system; she also knows that, due to Gnosia containment protocols, LeVi will not be able to perform emergency repairs should she ship be damaged. Her choices are to protect herself, or protect the crew. Despite being Gnosia she chooses the latter, prepares for a potential hit, and then when the ship takes damage, immediately goes outside to perform emergency repairs. And then, knowing LeVi won't be able to properly repair the ship as long as there are Gnosia onboard, she outs herself as one and lets go of the ship.

She could've asked to be put into cold sleep. It would have required her to come back inside and go through the procedure, during which her emergency repairs could've given out. The most secure way to save the crew was to remove herself from the ship entirely, even if that meant condemning herself tto a slow, painful, lonely death. So that's what she chose to do, even acting as a supposed enemy of humanity. As we learn later, she saved Setsu's life doing so. In Setsu's first loop, where Gina wasn't Gnosia, the collision in the Allocosia System caused them to be crushed.

Gina acts to help others, using the tools at her disposal. When she is Gnosia, this is another tool. If her best way to help others is to send them to Gnos, she will; but if there is a better way, she will do that instead. All this while having the lowest stats among the crew and few special skills at her disposal. I hope everyone spontaneously regains their memory of the loops and crowdfunds a monument for Gina.

yuri is a person whose existence is shaped by the silver key. they can only exist because of the loops. their personality is nurtured by them, and grows to conform around them. they become a curious, emotionally intelligent person, who is often reckless in pursuit of their goals - sometimes selfishly, sometimes selflessly.

setsu is a person whose life was only saved because of the silver key. their loops are an extension of their life. looping forces setsu to confront parts of themself, and to be a more proactive person. to address how emotionally disconnected they are, to grapple with making hard decisions, and to bend the rules when needed. they care deeply about protecting others, and the loops challenge that.

whereas yuri's loops mostly teach them to understand others, setsu's teach them to understand themselves. both of them come to care for the rest of the crew and for each other, to the point of making great sacrifices, even if done recklessly.

kukrushka is a contradictory existence, a confusing, inconsistent person who acts on her whims and does not try to understand them. she doesn't always care about consequences; her concern for them is unpredictable. she is a person half numb, ignorant to the well-being of others, someone who simply follows the tide of her loops. she does not try to escape them or to fill her key, she just rides, forever and ever, surrendering herself to time.

in each instance, the line between the person they were before the loops and the person they become because of them is fuzzy. for kukrushka, it's especially unclear.

Self improvement is great but ultimately? you have to accept your self. Yes you can eat better, exercise more, read more, set boundaries, love your self, but it all comes down to this. Some days you won’t have the energy to do any of these things. And you’ll look in the mirror and think that this is not enough. That’s a lie. The biggest love for self is to live slowly. To rest. To really rest. Have a nap. Eat what makes you feel good. Read if you want to. Embrace yourself and accept that you cannot and will not be ever be perfect. Accept that you are good enough. You don’t need to keep busy all the time. you don’t need to go out all the time and post on instagram. You don’t need to journal if you don’t want to. You don’t need to make art if you don’t want to. Breathe, give yourself grace and compassion. Give yourself the love and tenderness you so badly need. Be gentle with yourself. You are trying and it is good enough. You are good enough.

I'm not sure if some of Tumbler's user-base knows this, but you do know that if there is something you want to add to a post that's related to what they're talking about, you can do that without insulting them in the process.

I keep seeing comments and reblogs around Tumblr along the lines of "wow, all of those words and you didn't even bother to mention x 🙄".

The thing about replies like this that there's a strong insinuation that either x was left out intentionally and maliciously, or that the person writing the post is an idiot for not already knowing about and including x, or both. Either way wording it this way is an insult and a put-down to whoever wrote the post.

Maybe sometimes people didn't mention x for malicious reasons, but 9 times out of 10 that's not the case. Most of the time people either generally didn't know or weren't fully aware. Or maybe just genuinely forgot. Either way, it's not called for to insult and attack people who are total strangers to you on the internet.

And there really needs to be more emphasis on the whole "people on Tumblr are strangers to you", it's rarely called for to attack or insult strangers unprovoked. Say some of your new co-workers or classmates you haven't really gotten to know yet are talking about how your city is going to be getting rid of some of the bike paths, and one of them is talking about how this is bad for the environment. You (hopefully) wouldn't butt in and say "wow, all those words and you didn't even bother to mention how this affects lower class people who can't afford cars 🙄😒" and if you would actually do that, you seriously need to work on your boundaries because it's really inappropriate to just attack and insult people unprovoked like that.

Of course you could say something like "oh it's not just an environmental issue, this is really going to hurt lower class people who can't afford a car!". You can actually just add it in a neutral way like that without attacking or insulting anyone in the process for not already saying it.

People become more closed off and less receptive when you attack and insult them, btw. Even when you're saying something they'd otherwise agree with. In many cases I wouldn't count it against someone for attacking and insulting someone who is genuinely being cruel and malicious, sometimes it is called for and can be a form of self defense. But just over someone not knowing something or forgetting to mention something? What do you actually gain from that?

i think we need to normalize playing video games on “easy” difficulties

it is kind of stupid that content creators have to justify playing games on “easy mode”. hell im tired of having to justify why I am playing on easy. its because i like to have fun. its because i like enjoying games instead of struggling with them and being stressed out. so obviously when a video game gives me the choice for a stress-free gameplay experience of course i’m going to fucking play the stress free gameplay experience are you stupid?
