WAIT I WANNA KNOW ABOUT FAIRY SEASONS ๐๐๐
hehe okkkkkk, but just a warning, they're pretty similar to normal seasons, just a little softer. I also changed up the calendar a bit to make it make a little more sense to me. I'll explain that in a bit, bc tbh, I'm gonna be ever so slightly lazy and copy paste a bit of what I already have in the script lol. so lets get into it...
๐ฐ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐,
Sidhe runs on a ten-month calendar, with each month lasting exactly thirty days. A full year is three hundred days long, and the cycle begins on the first day of spring, when the world begins to awaken again.
๐๐๐๐๐๐
Spring lasts for two months and marks the beginning of the year. It starts cool and damp, then gradually warms, usually sitting somewhere between 50 and 70 degrees. Rain becomes more frequent, dew collects in greater abundance, and the whole world begins stirring itself awake. Flowers uncurl, animals and insects begin to emerge, birds start nesting, and mermaids rise from their winter sleep as ponds and streams fully thaw. Fairies come out of wintering too, shaking off the seasonโs drowsiness and returning to their usual rhythms with a kind of collective brightness. This is one of the busiest times for Bloomkeepers especially, who help coax open new blossoms, tend fragile early growth, and work closely with bees to keep pollination moving smoothly across the meadows.
๐๐๐๐๐๐
Summer lasts for three months and is the longest, warmest season of the year, usually ranging from 70 to 85 degrees. By this point Lunaeria is in full bloom: flowers are lush and open everywhere, grasses are high, leaves are rich and thick, fruits and berries ripen in abundance, and the air grows heavy with sweetness, sunlight, and the hum of busy life. Rain becomes less frequent, though wind and storms still roll through now and then, and increased human activity makes the season a little livelierโand occasionally more dangerousโat the edges of the forest. Berries, melons, and all sorts of summer fruits are harvested during this time, and villages become especially lively with gathering, preserving, drying, and feasting. The ice stored during colder months begins to be used more carefully for cooling drinks, preserving delicate ingredients, and easing the worst of the heat.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Asterfel lasts for two months and is one of Lunaeriaโs most unusual and magical seasons. The air turns humid and softly cool, usually hovering between 65 and 55 degrees, and the winds tend to be either wonderfully gentle or strangely strong, with very little in between. At night, the skies fill more often with shooting stars and meteor showers, sometimes two or three times a week. What makes Asterfel truly special, though, is the fine layer of mythrilite dust left behind by these frequent showers. This shimmering dust settles lightly over leaves, bark, petals, and water, and fairies carefully gather itโoften mixing it with water to nourish certain flowers into rare star-variants whose petals often gleam, glow faintly, or take on unusual colors. During this season, leaves tint slightly blue, some tree trunks, depending on the type of tree, grow pale, and even ordinary blossoms seem to shimmer just a little more than they should, as though the whole world has been brushed with starlight. The whole world takes on a dreamlike cast, as though moonlight has sunk into the roots of everything. Some years asterfel arrives more gently than others, especially if the previous one was particularly intense, but it is always a season watched closely with wonder.
๐๐๐๐๐๐
Autumn lasts for two months and carries Lunaeria from fullness into preparation. The air cools steadily, usually falling between 60 and 40 degrees, and the world begins to turn rich with reds, oranges, yellows, golds, and deep purples. Leaves change and start to fall, autumn flowers bloom in warm, dramatic shades, and mushrooms begin appearing everywhere in sudden abundance. Wind and storms pick up more often during this season, and many mornings arrive wrapped in thick, pearly fog that makes the whole forest feel hushed and secretive. Foragers are especially busy in autumn, gathering mushrooms in great quantities and harvesting all the rich foods needed to prepare for winter: chestnuts, acorns, apples, pears, cranberries, grapes, persimmons, figs, pomegranates, and anything else the land is willing to give before the frost comes.
๐๐๐๐๐๐
Winter is the shortest season, lasting only one month, but it changes daily life more than any other. Temperatures drop sharply, usually settling somewhere between 20 and 30 degrees, and Lunaeria becomes a place of frost, ice, and soft, powdery snow. The snowfall here is usually light rather than harshโfine, fluffy, and gentle enough to settle in thick, sparkling layers over branches, rooftops, and sleeping gardens instead of coming down in heavy drifts. Days shorten dramatically, with only eight to ten hours of daylight, while nights stretch long and cold beneath a sky lit every evening by the aurora borealis. Ponds freeze over, sending mermaids fully into hibernation, and fairies begin wintering, where life slows, sleep deepens, and most of the village turns inward toward nests, warmth, and communal rest. Though much of the world appears asleep, winter is not without beauty of its own. Certain rare flowers and plants bloom only in the coldest weather, including pale blossoms that look almost translucent, like petals made of frost.
also, we haven't quite finished naming the months yet, but so far we know that the spring months will be Ionia and Aurell, two of the summer months will be Soet and Juven, one of the asterfel months will be Taustos, and one of the autumn months will be Palia. we still need to figure out names for the four other months tho.
but yeah! I think that's just about everything I got on the seasons (with one slight exception, I got a fuck ton of extra stuff on how fairies handle winter, since they're much better suited to warmer and sunnier months, so I'll probably post that soon!!!
anyways, let me know if you have any questions!!!
