One thing about not having a car is that even when there is public transit, it can leave you housebound.
It's insanely hot where I am right now, and it is actually dangerous for me to go buy groceries. It's a 15 minute walk, but it's over 100 degrees.
If I had a car, I could drive. I could turn the AC on, park near the grocery store, go buy groceries, and drive back home.
As it is, I didn't leave the house yesterday, I'm not leaving the house today or tomorrow, because I genuinely think it would be dangerous for me.
When I had a museum membership, I noticed that on days with bad weather- rain, storms, high heat- the museum would be crowded. People want to get out of the weather!
But without transportation, it gets a lot harder. It can get genuinely dangerous.
On the third day stuck at home, that's really hammered home.
whenever the conversation about difficulty and accessibility in games come up i want to slam my head into a wall because noone thats speaking has anything more than a surface level understanding of what "difficulty" even is
your game should have accessibility options, but if your only accessibility options are "turn off central game mechanics" then you have made shit accessibility options.
you know what accessibility option doesnt completely fucking butcher your game while allowing almost everyone to play it? an option that is not available in 99.99% of all games ever made? easy:
bonus points: if you put a game speed slider in your game you can also allow Absolute Fucking Freaks to turn it higher than 100%
i don't care what those tiktok and instagram influencers tell you, have three meals a day!!! have a snack!! have that sweet treat!! have food that makes you feel good!!! especially if you're a woman!! starving yourself to look "desirable" will only make you desirable to people who want you to stay malnourished forever. it's a cycle of misery!!
web weave finds that made me want to claw my eyes out
It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.
i dislike the weird jump to blame suicide victims for their suicides and call them selfish. suicide is very frequently in some way a social murder. i think instead of blaming someone who was in such a dark place that they saw no other way out we should maybe be blaming the people who threw gas on the fire, such as those with a lot of power to make that person's life that bad or those who abused them into it. is that really that unreasonable
not once has being told i was being selfish- or seeing people talk about how selfish suicide is- EVER made me feel less suicidal. it creates shame. it makes me shut down and never want to disclose feeling this way because oh, g-d, doesn't that make me a bad person? oh, g-d, they'll think i'm a monster, they'll think i'm guilt tripping them, they'll think, they'll think, they'll think (....)
and worse still, nearly every time i've been pushed this far- and, indeed, a lot of my mental health problems to begin with- often stem from the idea that i am less important than anyone else. my thoughts, my feelings, my safety, my life are less important. so to hear people essentially say to me, "but how would everyone else feel!?"?? it doesn't help at all. it makes it so much worse. once more, i am not the important one. even at my lowest, i have to be the one to make compromises and consider how everyone else feels. how could that ever help me? how could you say that to someone?
i think it is important to recognize the ways in which your favorite thing sucks. i think it keeps u normal
prev im so sorry to put you on blast like this but please know this had me in hysterics
if you tell trans men to kill themselves and they get upset and your response to that is “you’re a man, you by default perpetuate the conditions that lead to my abuse, you deserve this!!!” then you clearly have no damn idea what the fuck you’re talking about or what it’s like to be a trans man
I think people who don't want phallo or any other bottom surgery should shut up sometimes.
Like all you have to say, is like: I don't think any off the available options are suitable for me, it's too expensive for me, I am not comfortable with the surgery, I have medical restrictions, I am fine with what I have, or like the million other completely valid reasons. But the moment it goes into hating on the results, or surgery, or calling it ugly etc, that's when I get mad.
Like I have seen so much of like calling it ugly or like a swollen sausage. Like my horrible summer child, a fucking sausage and two easter eggs painted by a four year old, would be better then what I have there right now.
Like yes it isn't and never will be perfect, but it is constantly evolving and getting better. Also it is a procedure real people get and are so happy. It saves lives and improves quality off life. Please shut up about your unsavory opinions on it.
I hope fifty good things happen to you within the next 30 seconds. I love you so much
isolating will fix me this time
