i dislike the world cup because it turns people here in england into animals. huge increase in violence, racism, domestic abuse, noise at ungodly hours, leftover trash in the parks and streets. but that all gets a pass because it’s the beautiful game, it’s coming home, the boys done good.
not to mention the online discourse is the most toxic shit you can read. men get angry over the little ball and somehow equate that to everyone’s respective historical atrocities, or in lower iq instances just attacking any vague cultural reference to hand.
the whole time the world cup is airing my mental health has a consistent debuff, i am glad we lost and i am glad it is nearly over.
