Mika was vaguely aware of falling. And even more vaguely aware of the hard stop of the crash. His steel, the large ship he was usually in, was still in orbit far beyond any place they could track it, and he had been using one of the small shuttles to investigate, but it was not his intent to crash. He’d had it on autopilot, while he did his prayers, but a near-miss from a comet blinded it and by the time he had regained control there was little he could do but return to his prayers and wait for the inevitable.
The air was thin, he’d turned it down a long time ago, so that he could save what little air he had left. The gravity hadn’t been turned on for ages, because he’d scavenged those parts to keep the heat on.
So falling or controlled crashing as it really was, wasn’t hard. he just set the breaking thrusters to fire in time to kick him flat before he came down.
There were fragments of memory. Hands grabbing at him, dense air, and heaviness, and then a cold, chemical room, bright lights, scratchy sheets, but still heavy and heavy air.
talking, endless talking, it seemed like they were always talking, to him, about him, it didn’t matter.
By his count it had been a terran month, about thirty days before he started understanding the language. It was OLD, older than him, and that said a lot. Terran, maybe older thann that, maybe from the time before it was the first world.
He refuses to let us touch it. He’ll let us work with him, but the minute we touch the collar, he shuts down. And the last person to make him angry got thrown across the room. We still aren’t sure how he did it.
He seems to have a pattern to his eating, certain days he refuses any meat, or anything he even THINKS is meat. His breathing has eased some and his movement is easier. Some of his muscles have atrophied but not as much as I would expect from someone who obviously spent long term in space. And His DNA is not human.”
Things went on like this for almost another month. Eventually they let him get up and walk around, and soon they would find him back at his prayers.”
“You are not like the others.”
If Stanton hadn’t been involved in such matters, he probably wouldn’t have believed it outright, only giving a brief thought otherwise. But here it was, actual and hardcore proof of alien life. ....For some reason, it felt like his life suddenly turned into a certain TV show.
For the black haired man, he handled the legal proceedings and such with such projects-- yet, it still gained him access to their findings and such.
He could learn as much as he wanted to, as long as he kept his mouth shut-- and secrecy was quite important in a matter like this, of course.
It was utterly fascinating-- yet again said.
He hadn’t interacted much with the alien, yet he observed from afar most of time. Deep down.. while seemingly in a trace over what had happened, he couldn’;t have helped to feel a bit... empty. Here was an innocent individual suffering at the hands of men that wan ted to study him... pick him apart. It almost made Stanton’d stomach turn inside out.
He gad developed a strong, yet twisted sense of justice due to his past...
It almost startled him when the alien spoke up towards him. He had to snap out of his thoughts, as he jolted his head towards Mika.
