Where do you find your inspriation for your projects? Nature? other creatives? magazines? books? your own mind as you open it wide?
What about today? waht will you do to fill your time while at home? Try new things? get creative with whats available? reach out to someone?
Appreciating the beauty of the garden was not lost on us this season. We had flowers galore and enough vegetables to freeze, can make jams and pickle.
Visiting the mid coast of Maine is alwasy a treat. Each time we find something new and fun to do and see. The scenery alone is worth the trip!
What are your unfinished projects- surely you have some around- a sweater that isn't finished, laudry that isn't folded, garden that's not weeded.
Short blog- short on time!
You have to be tough to live in Maine
You have to be tough to live in Maine
Well, it has been snowing and snowing and snowing… Today though- there are bright blue skies and WIND- lots and lots of wind. The windchill is hovering around -18. Gracie isn’t bothered by it at all- so getting her to come in out of the cold is a challenge. She is a good Maine dog.
Snow-covered trees
Mt Washingtoncan be seen from my area. It is about a 1 hour car drive over and through the…

Gracie in training
Who is training who? I’d like to think that we are training Gracie, but in fact, she may have equal billing right now.
Gracie the “lap dog”
We started puppy training classes- we are going into week 4 now. Art joined me last week for the first time and now is on board with the lingo. Our traineris very skilled and good with both dogs and horses. She seems to really enjoy Gracie but does…

OOOOh it's cold outside!
OOOOh it’s cold outside!
OOOOh, it’s cold outside! Wow, taking Gracie out, who has to find “her spot” before she does her business, is quite a challenge today. I think that , according to my weather ap, the air temperature feels like -28 degrees right now. BRRRRRRRR
So- I have been doing what I had promised for some time. It takes quite a while to get things listed in my ETSY shop. Don’t even talk to me about the…

I feel "healthy, happy and terrific"
I feel “healthy, happy and terrific”
“I feel healthy, happy and terrific”. While at a celebration milestone birthday breakfast I asked the vibrant 90 year old about her secret. She thanked everyone for coming and made this announcement of her daily ritual. “Every morning before my feet hit the floor I say, I feel healthy, happy and terrific”. When asked how long she has been doing this she responded…

Fire Cider and Elderberry syrup
Fire Cider and Elderberry syrup are helping me stay healthy this winter - at least so far they seem to be helping!
Do you think you might need a spoonful of sugar- (you know like the Mary Poppins song)to make the fire cider and elderberry syrup go down? Well, I say you don’t.
Fire Cider beverage
Adding 1 teaspoon of fire cider vinegar in water a day is a part of the daily routine. Then a teaspoon of Maine Medicinals Elderberrysyrup straight from the bottle for good measure. Both have a unique favor and…

Thank goodness for dogs
Thank goodness for dogs
Thank goodness for dogs. I have a puppy and sometimes she can be a real joy, and sometimes , well… a real challenge.
The joys:
Having a dog lets you see the sunrise each day. Getting up before the first light in the winter can be absolutely stunning. Without a puppy, I would rarely see this time of day.
Having a dog lets you see the stars at night. Sure you go out at night but do you…

Plastic wars getting better; meet the Vejibag
Plastic wars getting better; meet the Vejibag
If you remember, a while back I wrote a blog post about my love affair with zip loc bags. Well, I have just received a very promising gift this holiday season and am very excited about the prospects! Let me introduce you to the Vejibag.
This organic cotton bag claims to be able to keep your produce fresh for 2 weeks instead of using plastic bags. What? really?? I have struggled with this…

Fresh start again
A walk in the woods
Each year we all think that we have a fresh start, a new beginning when the calendar turns to January. Here we are, January of 2019! Can we really start fresh- do we need to? or do we just need a moment to step back, think about the year that has just passed, remember the good, let go of the bad and allow ourselves to forge ahead with new ideals, thoughts, ambitions, hopes…

I almost hit a moose today
I almost hit a moose today
100,00 miles and going strong
On my way back from town today I almost hit a moose – I could see the whites of her eyes, or rather the surprised look on her face as she and I veered off in different directions. I say it was a she since she had the good sense not to keep running straight at me. If I had been a few moments later there would have been a large van in the opposite lane and I would…

My love affair with Ziploc bags
My love affair with Ziploc bags
My love affair with ziploc bags goes way back. They have always felt like a necessary part of my life. Have a few random bits and bobs? throw them in a ziploc. Need a place for a left over onion? ziploc. How about those leftover worms from a hooking project? yup, a ziploc- They work for everything! Don’t believe me? although I imagine you do- look all of the wonderful uses ziplock have.

The rug that began it all-Welcome Home
The rug that began it all-Welcome Home
This rug may have been the beginning of my business as it is now – the rug that began it all . My “Welcome Home” rug.
I was hooking my own rug years ago at a studio. “oh I love that” how much would you sell it for??
It was mine- I wasn’t sure I wanted to sell it, in fact, I didn’t- but I could possibly make the pattern available for her. I went home and thought long and hard about it- was I…

Old Faithful
My first new car-
Old Faithful- that’s what I should have named this wonderful car. This was the first new car I had ever owned. It was a family car, but I say “I” since I was the one who put nearly 275,000 miles on her over the span of 18 years.
This car brought new puppies home and brought them on their final ride at the end of their long lives. This car traveled to see colleges, see what…
