i’ve learned not to trust tumblr without solid resources, so i took the time to fact-check this and do the math for you guys:
mark zuckerberg didn’t lose $119 billion dollars. facebook stock dropped over $119 billion dollars.
mark zuckerberg’s personal net worth dropped by $16.7 billion dollars- still a HUGE chunk of money, and yet it was only an 11% loss on his total net worth.
his net worth is now $67 billion, putting him in 6th place (from 4th) in Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires.
if i were to work for $15 an hour, 50 hours a week, for 60 years, i would make a total of $2,340,000- before taxes and benefits.
($15/hour x 50 hrs/week x 52 weeks/yr x 60 yrs = $2,340,000)
now divide that by mark zuckerberg’s stock losses ($2,340,000 total life earnings/$16,700,000,000 mark zuckerberg’s stock loss)
as you can see, that amounts to .00014%, simply put, my entire life earnings would fit almost 7,136 times into just his losses.
[($16.7 billion/$15 per hour = 1,113,333,333 total hours of work) divided by (50 hrs/week x 52 weeks/yr x 60 years = 156,000 hrs work in one lifetime) = 7,136.7]
i would have to work 7,137 lifetimes to make the same amount of money that he lost.
this is still huge, not to mention that his compensation is over 37 times higher than that of the average facebook employee.
