@typha-latifolia
don't mind if i do op i love her sm
thinking about the japanese racehorse who was such a failgirl she became a folk hero for losers
legitimately everything 2 me
Y'all will literally say Dante is someone cool and awesome who can fight (which we know they CANNOT, they are a weakling who the others keep saying needs to be taught how to fight, and they could not defend themself even BEFORE losing their memories, with Don Quixote who also lost her memories still keeping her combat abilities) before you'll look at them and go "...that's Ayin, actually."
gonna add it to this one too tbh. tapping my sign
once again i must reiterate
people will literally fucking make up the most incorrect theories with full confidence solely bc they don't want to admit dante is probably ayin
like. i've seen some fully in depth takes that are like okay but this is cherry picking and seeing what YOU PERSONALLY want to see rather than taking things at face value i have a 175 page and counting word document pointing everything out solely using screenshots of the game itself
seriously what does kim jihoon need to do at this point beyond just saying it out loud, he keeps on being less and less subtle as it is
once more i must reiterate
if playing limbus company has taught me anything, if thats if a tiny little sub-50 team member indie company loves their fans enough, they can make a gacha game so much more accessible and fun to play and sincerely enjoyable then a AAA gaming studio can
when i can just open up a mirror dungeon, walk in with 6 fucking randos that just happen to do the same status effect, and 5 floors later with a handful of dungeon items and some upgrades i am literally exploding everything mostly by clicking auto-battle
and when i can clear story content with just 6 of my favorite units that are level 50 and max upgraded not needing to worry about much more than keeping track of the boss mechanics
when all you need to DO to fully level and upgrade a unit is spend two forms of easily auto-grindable currency and that's pretty much it, and their upgradable equips (egos) use one of the same currencies for their one upgrade method
when you're capable of soloing a story chapter's final boss with a 00/4* unit with relative ease
when if you want a 000/5* unit off a limited banner and never manage to pull them, you can simply save up currency from failed pulls and buy them out of the store any time you want, even event units
when the most i ever spend on the game is the $10 season pass that lasts for at least 4-5 months if not longer and gives much more than $10 worth of all currency and pull tickets and unique character equips
when you get a good amount of banner currency not just weekly for the weekly updates and maintenances (repeat: weekly updates/maint) but every single time the game has even the slightest of inconvenient bugs or errors or the devs mess something up with balancing - which they'll happily admit to as they constantly work to make the game better with weekly dev notes and feedback
i am having a fantastic time even if i still struggle with some of the battle system's minutiae
this game is made by 40ish people and a dream, funded by one tiny little restaurant in seoul and whatever we give them, and it is one of the best gacha games i've ever played in my life, i love it so much
one of my personal favorite things is how there's new content all the time and therefore different team comps are almost constantly changing.
i'm a mod for the limbus company speedrunning boards on speedrun.com and last week i approved two separate mirror dungeon runs using burn teams that dated 1-2 months ago. since then, two new units that utilize burn mechanics have been added to the game, and it leaves me thinking, "would a burn team be optimized by adding these units? would they be more useful on the front lines as main damage dealers or on the back for their support passives? who would any new front-line members replace, and would their ids change to optimize their use on the back line?"
teambuilding is one of my absolute favorite things in this game, especially from a speedrunning standpoint, but also just in general
not to mention you're not required to use the new, "meta" units to clear content. people do base id/ego challenge runs of the main story and can actually clear it unlike a lot of other gacha games
coming out of my hole momentarily to post this bc i'm so tired of seeing arguments against the dantayin theory having nothing holding them up except "i don't want ayin to be dante" or "it doesn't fit what i think" like please. sometimes the truth is uncomfortable and we don't like it. i will take the haters seriously once they step up holding some cold hard objective facts in their hands instead of "that's what i want"
HEY SO MY LOOK WHAT MY BF DID GO BOTHER THE OLD MAN
Every so often I just get [angrily screaming into void] because NO unless you're going full AU, your Japanese characters with a Japanese koseki (family register, AKA where all the birth/death/marriage certificates go) will NOT have double-barrel or hyphenated names!
It isn't just a cultural thing. It's simply not legal within the Japanese system as it currently is.
So, realistically, someone can marry into someone else's koseki (family) but not not be part of (effectively) two families at once.
I know that it's often a thing of "I'm just trying to write cute ideas! I don't want to care about real world laws and politics!" but this is easily looked up, and it makes me twitch every time I see it, and if you're seeing this, then now you know!
Also, the old thing of "who gets whose name/whose koseki do we use" can create some fun, ficcable drama too! I've used it once or twice myself.
(Note that this is the same across the board for m/f and same sex relationships.)
A growing list of funny anecdotes about uma musume
1. One of the characters is a youtuber, with an actual youtube channel
2. The yakuza anti-porn rumor
3. One of the characters who was named after the movie top gun was used to promote top gun maverick in japan
4. While the obtainable horsegirls are based off real horses, the in-game scenario rivals were not. but the scenario rivals ended up having racehorses named after them, ironically upholding the canon
5. The numerous acknowledgments of the horses quirks outside of racing (hishi miracles dislike of water, tanino gimlet: fence destroyer god, meisho dotos cat, oguri caps voracious appetite)
6. Twin turbos adaptation as a whole
7. Haru Urara, the notorious horse that never won a single race, being included amongst the large cast of legendary and historically famous horses to be adapted
8. When Samson Big was introduced and so many people searched this little known horse that he became the top searched horse of that day, but had no official racing photo. So the number 1 horse of the day was just a blank no image horse
9. One of the horsegirls is like. Whatever you'd call a fujoshi but instead of yaoi its horsegirls
10. They wear horseshoes???
11. There is a horsegirl equivalent of instagram
12. The kanji for horse having two "legs" instead of the usual four in all depictions of the word
OH BOY I DO HAVE A LOT. LIKE LOTS.
Uma Musume are canonically just all female superhumans (the writers had once referred to them as something like elves in fantasy setting). They live among the humans and is known to be much, MUCH stronger physically than normal humans. I think it had been revealed in Hishi Akebono's story that before their growth spurt they have humanly strength and physique but it suddenly sparked when they had teen-like figures.
Before Season 3, Duramente was not licensed for the series, which takes people by surprise when they actually refer her with name in s3 episode one. In Kitasan Black's scenario (released before s3), there was a 'mob' girl named Bridsman (?) who took her place instead as Kita's rival. Led to people joking about her being beta!Duramente.
Yamanin Zephyr's scenario revealed that there's a trend among Uma Musumes who are dating each others to joint their tails together, known as 'Shippo Hug' (Tail hug).
The old guy who tend to cameo around Golshi's presence was an animefication of Golshi's caretaker irl who irl Golshi loves so much, Imanami. Funny thing, in Golshi's spinoff gag manga, PisuGoru, that takes place in Golshi's childhood, the teacher in charge of Golshi was a woman named Manami-sensei, obviously referencing Imanami.
TALKING ABOUT IMANAMI-SAN.... He's a genuine huge fan of Golshi, as he had referred to him (irl Golshi) lovingly as if he was his own son. Obviously, he collects Umamusume Golshi merches and even trained Golshi in Uma Musume game. No other Golshi fans can come close to him. He is always first in line in updating his Golshi shrine.
Do you guys knew that popular ship with Seiun Sky and Nishino Flower, also known as Furaunsu? In their fandom, it's pretty much established that the daughter of Seiun Sky and Nishino Flower's owner who is known online as Tarou, is their Biggest Shipper. Furaunsu fans had called her the 'head of Furaunsu village'. Heck, in fact, the reason why Seiun Sky and Nishino Flower's Uma Musume design got accepted rather easily was her. She literally told her dad she finds their design cute and thus Dad had no reason to refuse.
i need to update this where the fuck is samson big now
(dusting off my acct to add to this bc boy howdy do i love uma musume)
one of my favorite things about this series, especially the animation, is that a decent chunk of the major races that they animate are truthful to their real life counterparts. even the famous autumn tenno sho where silence suzuka fractured his leg is accurate (the only real-life divergence being that silence suzuka didn't have to be euthanized after breaking her leg).
but that real-life divergence and the thoughts of "what-if" sorts of situations is part of what makes the game (and the anime to a slightly lesser extent) so enjoyable to me. what if i raised this haru urara, who never won a single race in real life, to be an unstoppable powerhouse UG rank? what if i raised this silence suzuka to be able to actually win that autumn tenno sho? the possibilities are endless

SUMMONING 10000 PROJECT MOON FANS
Okay this is gonna be a long post but I figured why the hell not throw my absolute fucking lunatic conspiracy board Limbus Company theory out there, because I’ve had four people tell me it makes sense when I’ve brought it up to them, so! Here we go. Theory: I believe that Dante is Ayin (a main character of the first ProjMoon game, Lobotomy Corp, for those who don’t know). There’s a metric asston of evidence in just the first few chapters alone that keeps making me lie on the floor and scream, so let me document it!
We’re going under a cut for length, let’s get started! Heavy spoilers for Lobotomy Corporation and Ruina under here, be warned.
