The BEST trope is when a character tells another “let’s run away together, we can leave all of this behind and start a new life somewhere” and gets rejected. And then the rest of the tragedy unfolds

and my problem is. when I draw lis characters, they're gonna look a liiiittle off cause if I see an opportunity to throw in a feature I've seen on people around me, I'm throwing it in every time

The spring before Kris goes to college, Victoria’s getting a ride home from her and watches tangerine waves of sunset ripple over Kris’s face and fondness wells in her heart and in a burst of thoughtless affection she tries telling Kris how she feels.

Vic feels time slow down and frost over as Kris pulls to the side of the road and shuts her down firmly, and Vic can tell Kris is trying to be gentle and minimize damage to Vic’s self-esteem but Vic is like twelve and that moment haunts her for almost the entirety of her teens. She’ll be at a Vortex Club party or breezing through an exam and feeling on top of the world until she remembers Kris telling her you’re like the baby sister I always wanted and Vic has to stare into the void for a moment until she shakes off the urge to drown herself in the nearest water source.

really love a corruption arc where the character is trying way too hard to make it work but they're in over their head and it's uncomfortable and embarrassing and they're swallowing their own puke every time they do something awful and damp with sweat and trembling but insistent that they can do this, they want it, they're not a child, but it's like they're playing dressup in clothes that are too big for them and trying to convince their own reflection in the mirror that they fit and it's just no fun to watch at all
