Post-Saturn return thoughts
Oh, so I really didn't know shit about shit?
I think when I hit 27, i made my mind up that anyone below this age doesn't know as much as they think they do ~ and I don't mean this in a I'm older, I know better way, but more in a way where we think while we are aging through our 20s we will reach a point where we feel like an embodied adult.
Then Saturn begins his return and it's like, OH 🙂🚬 everything I thought I knew makes zero sense, and I must start again.
Wherever Saturn return happens in your chart will determine how your return goes
*taking into consideration the sign on the house cusp, aspects to Saturn, the sign ruler, and the houses the Saturn archetype is associated to (10th and 11th or Capricorn and Aquarius).
~ mine happened in my Pisces 12th house.
Saturn passed over my mercury, moon, mars, then conjunct my natal Saturn, before going over my sun and finally leaving Pisces.
These are some themes that occurred while Saturn transited the house of its return in my birth chart:
☆ i had a crisis of faith ~ Saturn transiting my 12th house made me completely question my beliefs/faith and if I was really capable of "believing" in anything at all. I have never been religious but always considered myself loosely spiritually oriented (i am also indigenous so have separate belief systems) but this all really came to a head during this transit.
☆ i went through long periods of celibacy and abstinence/sobriety ~ as a 12th houser I have had my own struggles in this area, but I got more serious than ever about getting my addiction issues under control, and really put in the effort to feel more integrated with my subconscious mind instead of drowning it out.
☆ i felt extremely isolated and I lost friends i'd had for 10+ years during this time period. I feel that Saturn gave me the reality check to become more aligned with what I needed versus what I wanted. Some people simply could not come with me.
☆ I actually met my current partner nearing the end of my final return (I had multiple due to retrogrades). I had been single for a number of years and this relationship has felt like a blessing from Saturn. That is not to say it is easy because there is serious responsibility and a kind of reciprocal exchange i have never experienced before required.
So Saturn really said "if you think you can do this, you can have it ~ how far are you willing to go?"
☆ my career path changed ~ I was literally forced into taking a career path I had not initially planned for. Now I am in it, I can see why this may have happened. I chose to believe that the closing out of my dreams was more about the fact that i am more sure of myself now to know ~ to know more, to know better, to know how to make decisions in my best interests.
☆ my identity feels more secure and solid ~ I am more sure of myself with less need for external validation. Even as someone that has chart markers for going against the grain (my aries ac/Aqua mc conjunct uranus), how i felt inside my own mind was plagued with anxiety and insecurity. Saturn return has marked a period of more self trust and surety.
I will give my takes on the themes that may arise during a Saturn return through the houses;
☆ 1st house Saturn return ~ Saturn in the 1st house individuals may have had a more serious and reserved disposition since childhood. As the 1st house is a cardinal house, and one of initiation, Saturn here slows, it restricts, it can give lessons early on. A person with Saturn here may have felt overwhelmed and burdened frequently as a child, needing to take on more responsibility than others. This shapes how the individual sees themselves as they begin to age. They may see themselves as having to endure, as though their burdens and suffering are theirs to carry on their own, thus they may be very stoic, and a source of great reliance and strength for those around them.
As this is on the axis of the self and others (1st/7th house), Saturn in the 1H could mean they have struggled in interpersonal relationships due to their own insecurities, harshness, and authoritative nature. Either attracting those seeking security in someone else but unable to provide it themselves to the Saturn individual, or as burdening the Saturn individual with their own issues.
When Saturn return happens in the 1st house, they mature into themselves. What once felt like burdens become the recognition that their life circumstances have shaped them into rigidness ~ often holding themselves back rather than being held back by anything weighted enough to keep them from self growth.
They can experience the most growth by learning moderation of boundaries in their interpersonal relationships ~ recognising that they alone have closed themselves off from others because their circumstances required more maturity of them than they were willing to give. Once Saturn returns, they can gain perspective that allows them to loosen the reigns on their self expression. Instead of keeping themselves in the serious box they called boundaries they realise they were huge, thick, concrete walls that became impenetrable.

☆ 2nd house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 2nd house may have had to work hard from a young age to feel they had a sense of security. They may have learnt early on that feelings of security (especially materially and financially) were directly correlated with ones ethics, values, and moral worth. If an individual with Saturn in the 2nd house was taught that working hard early on is a form of investment, and they have not lived up to this, they can feel this is a moral failing.
Saturn in the 2nd house individuals usually have stringent value systems and beliefs surrounding ones worth. They also may have struggled with needing to share resources with other family members, or had generational inheritance that created a binding effect leaving them feeling responsible to, or for, something or someone else.
When Saturn return occurs in the 2nd house, one may begin to seperate their own values and moral compass from that of their family members.
They must learn to use discernment, particularly in any matters that can make them feel powerless to the will of family. As they are naturally driven toward material and financial security they may gain more independence in this area. They may be able to build more material security on their own terms. Their investments may become focused more on long term goals over short term gain.

☆ 3rd house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 3rd house may have been late bloomers. They could have graduated late, been held back in school, needed extra assistance, or faced difficulties in communication and the ability to be understood.
This placement is the methodical thinker, they are naturally reserved, skeptical, and cautious in matters of the mind.
The 3rd house as archetypal Gemini (Mercury) energy can get overwhelmed by their mutable, adaptable, receptive disposition when it comes to learning ~ Saturn here (taking into account the sign on the house cusp) can slow these processes right down. Instead of being naturally curious and information seeking, the individual may be more reserved and have difficulty learning through their immediate environment ~ their community, neighbours, and siblings.
When Saturn return happens in the 3rd house, the individual may actively seek out remedies to the restrictions they've faced. They may go back to school, use any tools required to help them learn and advance, and interact with the environment around them to advance their own position socially and academically. This can lead to clearer career development and specialization. Though they may be required to take a longer path, if they remain dedicated they can expect lasting rewards in their pursuits.

☆ 4th house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 4th house may feel restricted by their family, resulting in feelings of isolation or resentment toward the environment they were raised in. Even if they do not feel resentful early on, they may realize as they age that they were forced to conform to rigid familial traditions or structures that repressed something about them. They may have had a very authoritative father figure who placed a lot of responsibility on them from a young age.
As this is also a cardinal angle of initiation, the 4th house acts as the foundation for the realm of our professional lives (also the archetype of Saturn). Those with Saturn here may have also been forced to grow up fast resulting in a disposition that makes them a dedicated worker or employee through parental pressure or even lack of involvement or guidance from parents.
When Saturn return occurs in the 4th house, the individual may begin to understand how they have internalised family dynamics, and how this also may play out in their career. They may have taken on professional roles that echo similarities to roles they have played throughout their childhood.
They may be required to dig deeper into family dynamics or ancestral karma and fully realise their own power and independence. This placement can often indicate the individual will always feel a sense of responsibility to their family, but they must learn during their Saturn return to balance heavy responsibilities with their professional aspirations.

☆ 5th house Saturn return ~ when Saturn resides in the house of joy, that joy becomes structured and internalised. Saturn scrutinises themselves through a lens of seriousness ~ often meaning that individuals with this natal placements struggle to completely embody a carefree or joyful nature.
This can make art creation less of a hobby and more of a responsibility or part of a schedule rather than unburdened, raw expression of the self. They can find it very difficult to relax.
When it comes to dating, they may be late to the game or tend to reserve themselves for more serious endeavors rather that engaging in light hearted flirting. They may prefer to date older people.
When Saturn return occurs in the 5th house, they may be required to recognise their inability to embody carefree joy is linked to worries of being average. As Saturn always strives for more and places pressure on the individual to hold themselves to higher standards (that are usually unattainable), in the 5th house Saturn must learn to be okay with being perceived outside of this. They must develop the ability to laugh at themselves rather than feeling that everyone else is going to laugh at them.
When it comes to children and the 5th house, Saturn return may bring a more embodied perspective on the realities of parenthood. Usually Saturn here can indicate that one feels parenting is too heavy a burden, during their return, if they can lean into unstructured joy and self expression, they may feel differently. Viewing this responsibility as requiring they maturity they have rather than feeling it would become a burden.

~ 6th house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 6th house are the conscientious workers. As a house of service, they may have lived their lives feeling obligated to others ~ whether as a caretaker, a mentor, or a teacher of humanity.
Here Saturn gives the individual a cool demeanor, an ability to structure tasks and routines for efficient time management, and the ability to shoulder hard responsibilities.
Unfortunately for individuals with this placement this can lead them to neglect their own health, sometimes resulting in neglect and debility.
As workers, they need to be careful not to come across as scrutinizing of how others go about doing something. They have a tendency to think their way is the supreme way and everyone else needs to follow suit. So they can either be interpreted as a reliable authority or an overburdening colleague unable to delegate.
They move through life with a sense of duty to all things living, and will often dedicate themselves to preservation and advancement.
When Saturn returns through the 6th house they individual may need to reevaluate their daily routines and schedules. They may be required to undertake more responsibility if it means they overcome any health obstacles, or move into a career field with healthier work/life balance.
As Saturn will return across the 6th/12th house axis, themes found in the 12th house can be materialised in the 6th house ~ individuals with this transit may experience the reality check of suppressed emotions that are causing health issues (particularly to the nervous system or mind).

☆ 7th house Saturn return ~ those with Saturn in the 7th house may be overly cautious in their relational dealings. They can be perceived as aligning with values that are traditional and aligned with institutional moral and value systems. This can make them quite polarising ~ they may be someone of great integrity, possessing the interpersonal skills of someone twice their age.
They may be professional, well spoken, and present themselves respectfully.
They may have more conservative approaches to relationships and business dealings which can aid in their pursuits.
On the other hand, they may be perceived as ruthless, callous, and lacking tolerance. They can be quite cynical toward the idea of relationships and partnerships. They may have learnt early on that they can never fully rely on others, making it hard to trust.
When Saturn returns here, they may realize their inability to trust others is a result of the lack of trust they have in themselves. If they have relied on maintaining rigid approaches to relationships, they may realise interconnectedness requires integration of the true self with others.
They are serious in love, often seeking relationships with other serious or older companions. If they have been single up to their Saturn return, they may finally partner. If they are in a relationship, they may question if what they are building is structurally sound and sustainable. They must redefine what they will and won't tolerate in partnerships.

☆ 8th house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 8th house are profoundly aware of power dynamics. They may have experienced or witnessed early on in their life how power, resources, intimacy, and vulnerability interplay.
This may have been in relation to inheritance or money and material security. This can make them averse to vulnerability, depth, and emotional intensity because fear is their primary driver.
With Saturn here there is much to be afraid of, to be anxious about, and to be kept hidden.
Across the 2nd/8th house axis there is usually a need to merge the self with the other, and often this comes with great risk to the 8th house Saturn.
When Saturn returns here, the individual must learn to discern between what is theirs and what is the others, and when to merge these and when not to (stronger boundaries may be required).
As the 8th house archetypally is associated to sex and intimacy, natal Saturn can restrict this aspect of shared reality. Saturn return may test this ~ requiring them to loosen restrictions on intimacy in order to safely practice the depth required in the 8th to let go without it resulting in self abandonment.

☆ 9th house Saturn return ~ those with Natal Saturn here may be masters of discernment. An individual with this placement may view truth as something to be analysed and tested. They may have felt early on that they lacked belief or faith in the world or others.
They may be curious but often in a pessimistic fashion ~ instead of questioning with the intention of learning more, they may be inclined to question with the intention of uncovering an objective truth in search of realism as they can be prone to black and white thinking.
They may either have great respect for authority systems or institutions, but still be skeptical of them.
As this house is associated to higher learning they may have fears of being wrong and carry immense pressure to be correct as opposed to philosophical. There is a risk of rigid thinking with this placement ~ with individuals carrying a deep sense of authority over their own thought processes. In this way they are incapable of being the blind follower stereotype.
When Saturn returns here, the individual may find themselves returning to higher learning and education. They may have taken a while to figure out what they align with, and what makes sense to them and their own worldviews. The individual may develop their own principles they wish to live by, thus they become their own authority.
As the Saturn return in general can feel like a crisis, in this house the individual may be required to find meaning for their suffering in order to move forward in a less dogmatic way ~ they build more trust in their internal moral compass and beliefs this way.

~ 10th house Saturn return ~ those with natal Saturn in the 10th house may have been raised with a strict parental figure that required of them a level of discipline, drive, committment, and responsibility beyond their years.
They can be very preoccupied with success, and they usually are very successful. They have earned respect in the public eye, and may get promoted easily or work for themselves/own their own business. Others may view them as pragmatic and persistent. They usually have deep respect for, and a stringent moral compass, when it comes to authority figures in their life. They can often relate, and predominantly take on the role of authority themselves.
When Saturn returns in this house, the individual must act consistently to achieve their goals. During this time they may encounter reality checks on their ability to sustain the level of commitment and hard work they put into their careers.
They must understand this position as being one where they are publicly accountable ~ what they do matters to their reputation, and how they go about doing it matters too.
They may also become concerned with their own legacy ~ what they will leave behind and how this influences others (including family and the legacy they will leave when they become an ancestor).

~ 11th house Saturn return: those with natal Saturn in the 11th house could struggle with connecting to groups of people, and often feel like outsiders. When they were younger they may have felt like a loner due to having a more serious disposition, or mature and astute attitude to relationships that those around your age group could not relate to. They may have made friends with older people or gotten along well with mentors and teachers.
The 11th house archetype is associated to Aquarius whose ruler is Saturn, and with this comes the humanitarian aspect of duty to others. This is different from service in the 6th house, as Saturn in the 11th house is concerned with a structured approach to reciprocal engagement.
When Saturn returns through the 11th house, the individual may experience shifts in their social circle. Whilst they are prone to keeping a small number of friends for a very long time, Saturn return brings focus to restructuring of goals, and alignment with sustainable networking. If a relationship or friendship is one they have kept purely because of longevity, they may be required to reevaluate if their ideals still align. This is still a collaborative placement that requires contribution is equal and earned.
